Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 13th January 2026.

13th January, 2026.

It’s official: I’ve got a case of gas.

And the trots!

Nope: it wasn’t the spaghetti sauce!

I think it’s the medication I’m on: one or two of them can be funny like that.

Either way … ?

I’m hoping that I’ll recover, quickly.

It’s always embarrassing, even if I don’t have visitors!

~≈💨≈~

Actually, talking about the last batch of spaghetti sauce?

I had some more of it, last night.

Turns out it goes better with peas and potatoes.

That’s my cookery reputation, shot!

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 13-1-2025 — The City of Saint Mungo

13th January, 2025: Saint Mungo’s City.

Right … it’s officially Monday: and?

I’m off to Brentwood, for my weight management meeting.

Given I lost about four hundred grams, last week?   About 9/10th of a pound?

I’m hoping to have lost more.

It would be nice to have a win, in the new year.

~≈⚖️≈~

Talking of weight … ?

It seems that tonight’s episode of Panorama covers weight loss drugs available on the National Health Service.

Given a recent report that says supplying the drugs could well bankrupt the NHS?

I’d be interested in seeing that … !

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 13th January 2024.

13th January, 2024.

It’s officially: stuff will no doubt be occurring, today!

Of course it will: that’s the nature of the universe.

Things happen, one after the other.

On thing I do know will happen?

Is a review.

I caught a film, last night: and will have my review up, later!

~≈¥≈~

One rather sad thing I know happened, yesterday?

The death of Radio 1 DJ, Annie Nightingale, was announced.

The station’s first female DJ was both a pioneer for women in the industry, and the station’s longest serving presenter: celebrating her fiftieth year with the station in 2020.

Her Sunday night show introduced me to a host of songs.

Her’s was the first show I can remember talking about a musician dying of, or contracting, HIV/AIDS: when she announced that Ricky Wilson of the B52s had died from complications of AIDS.

She even replied to one of my tweets, many moons ago!

Annie will be much missed.

West Side Story (2021) — A Review

12th January, 2023.

Right.

It’s a Thursday night.

And, frankly?

I have a quandary.

Or possibly a problem.

I’m writing this on an evening with little to do.

Bar fret.

And wonder what to watch.

Frankly?   I’m thinking the Spielberg cut of West Side Story looks attractive.

As does the documentary about 1996 made for TV, Dr Who movie: imaginatively named Dr Who Am I.

Or do I start watching the third season of Apple TV+’s For All Mankind?

Before the start of Picard’s third series, in February?

At any rate?

I’m going to watch something, tonight: and tell you about it, tomorrow night.

Here’s hoping I make my mind up.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 13th January 2023.

13th January, 2023.

Right … it’s now officially Friday the 13th.

Am I worried?

Nope: things are currently going well.

Wellish, at any rate.

I got an email, yesterday: from the Court service dealing my appeal for extra help from the Job Centre.

In responce to a letter I’d sent a few months ago.

Apparently?   The case had been duplicated: and they’re waiting for a response from the Job Centre.

Hopefully?

Some sort of decision will come through, soon … !

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 13th January, 2022.

13th January, 2022.

Right …

I’m actually up, early.

As I’ve got a phone appointment, with another weight management programme: one that includes a psychiatric element.

And will be carried out over Microsoft Teams.

Here’s hoping it goes well.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 13th January, 2021.

13th January, 2021.

Right … it’s got to be said …

One?

I work up this morning, with Cabaret Voltaire’s No Escape banging through my head.

Quite why, I don’t know.

I’m also feeling slightly rushed.

My sister, Ruth, is giving me a lift, at eleven.

To a local (ish) foodbank in Shenfield.

Heigh ho!

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 13-1-2020: Unlucky for Some.

13th January, 2020.

Right …

I’m due to have an interview, today.

And?   And, you say … ?

Well, in theory — and as ever in these circumstances — I’m relying on the Job Centre to pay for my train ticket.

I’m a little concerned, having just checked my bank account.

I’ve got a penny.

Rather than the train fare I was expecting.

Understandably?

I’m going to be checking agin, later.

Equally understandably?

I’m just a little concerned.

~≈¥≈~

Oh, JUST as a thought … ?

Microsoft will be ending support for Windows 7, tomorrow.

I know it’s possibly strange.   But can I leave you with a thought, if you’re using it?

You’ll need to replace it: as the ageing OS won’t be getting security updates from tomorrow.

I’d like to make a suggestion, if I may?

I’m going to suggest that — instead of spending money on a new PC, or a Windows 10 license — you back up your machine, copy you important files to a USB stick.

And plonk a version of Linux on there*.

Just to see what a different operating system looks like.

You can always return to Windows, later: if you don’t like what you see.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 13th January, 2019.

13th January, 2019

Yes, it’s a nice quiet, Sunday morning: and, frankly?

I’ll be having dinner with my family, later.

But, for the rest of it … ?

It’s probably going to be nicely quiet.

~≈§≈~

Of course, I’ve got Radio 4 on, while I’m writing this.

As I do most mornings.

One thing that got a mention in the news?

Was simply that — after meetings with President Vladimir Putin, over the past few years — President Trump has had records of those meetings either not made, not held … or destroyed.

Contrary to a practise of the preceding presidents.

At least, according to the Washington Post.

If true … ?

I’d have to ask why he’s done that.

As I’m assuming that the various branches of the USA’s many layered government are like the government here in the UK.

That anything said or done by key federal officials, like anything said or done by ministers here in the UK, has to be recorded.

If true, that fact the President hasn’t … is …

Iffy, at best …

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 13-1-2017

Right at the moment … ?

I’m alive … and living in a town called Brentwood.

A Brentwood that — over the last night —got snowed on.

Which certainly looked pretty.

Unless, of course, you have to commute home from Chelmsford in that sort of weather.

In that sort of case?

You end up feeling the cold.

Especially if you’d been seriously soaked, on the way to work: and hadn’t managed to dry your coat out, effectively.

Frankly?

I’m grateful I didn’t go need over end on an icy patch.

Cold, soaked and hurt wouldn’t be good.

Either way?

I’m planning to shop, today: and pay bills.

And am VERY aware those icy patches?

Will make walking up the hill into a death trap … !

The Daily Teaser — 13-1-2016

Arrrrgh … !

I HATE doing that … !

I forgot to put my alarm on … !

OK, I’m not up too late …

But doing on you first day back at work, AND when you’ve got to post up the Gazette Teaser … ?

Arrrrgh … !
