Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Series 3 Episode 7 — “What Is Starfleet?” — A Review

21st August, 2025: “What is Starfleet?”.
The Intro.

Right, then: once again, we reach a Thursday!

Which means … ?

Yes: you’re right.   I’m cooking dinner, again.

A burger, if you’re curious: with home made chips, and vegetables.

Once I’ve eaten … ?

I’ll be doing what I’ve done for the past few weeks, and watching the next few episodes of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, then telling you about it by Saturday, 23rd August.

If “What Is Starfleet?” is anything like last weeks episode?

There’s a possibility of time machines …

Doctor Who — Series 15/Season 2 - Episode 7 — “Wish World” — A Review

23rd May, 2025: “Wish World”.

Right at the moment?

I’m in a position to afford a take out.

I don’t fancy cooking: and … ?

I’m feeling mildly celebratory.

As the electro-cardiogram the nurse did, has come up clear.

I’ve just got off the phone to the GP, about it.

So … I’m both reassured, and happy …

And thinking a takeaway would be nice.

That aside … ?

It’s Friday.

So?

I’m setting up my review of “Wish World”, now: and will be finishing it, tomorrow.

Going by the little that’s been released?

“Wish World” looks interesting.

We’ll have to see, won’t we?

Doctor Who — Series 14/Season 1 - Episode 7 — “The Legend of Ruby Sunday” — A Review

*Spoilers*

15th May, 2024: an introduction.

Right …

It’s Saturday!

And, yes: I’ve got the theme tune to Tiswas banging around my head.

It’s that “Saturday is Tiswas Day” line!

Argh!

~≈👨🏿‍⚕️≈~

At any rate … ?

It’s Saturday.

And?

That means I’ll be watching “The Legend of Ruby Sunday”: the seventh episode of this current series of Doctor Who, today.

The BBC iPlayer version, rather than the broadcast one.

I’ll let you know what I though, by tomorrow night at the latest.

I’ll see you then.

For All Mankind — Series 4 Episode 7 — “Crossing the Line” — A Review

23rd December, 2023: an introduction.

Right … it’s Saturday night as I write this.

And?

Once again, I’m using the back-up laptop to do so.

It’s not a nice experience: but will do for now.

Until my iMac gets back from the repair shop.

I’ve spoken to the shop: and it could well be ready, tomorrow.

The place is a short train journey away.

On a day when the trains aren’t running!

Heigh-ho!

~≈🛸≈~

At any rate?

It’s Saturday.

And ... ?

As I’m going to be watching Dr Who on Monday, I’m going to be watching “Crossing the Line”, the next episode of For All Mankind, tonight.

Then telling you about it, tomorrow evening!

Hopefully, I'll see you then!

Star Trek Strange New Worlds Episode 7 — “Those Old Scientists” — A Review

23rd July, 2023: the Intro.

Yes: it’s Sunday.

You know that as well as I do.

And … ?

Frankly, I’ve done my usual thing of having Sunday dinner with my family.

And … ?

Gone into something of a scheduling panic.

As Paramount+ have released “Those Old Scientists” yesterday: rather than this coming Thursday!

Quite why, I don’t know.

At any rate?

I’m at home early on a Sunday evening: and intent on watching “Those Old Scientists” with a nice cup of tea, and a metaphorical bun.

Here’s hoping the unexpected shift works for me!

The Mandalorian — Series 3 Episode 7 — Chapter 23 “The Spies” — A Review

10th July, 2023.   The Introduction.

Yes: it’s true.

You’ll be very aware it’s Monday, that I’m going to be having dinner — a burger, so you know — and will be watching the next episode of The Mandalorian, once I’ve had that.

While I’m writing this intro, though?

I’m listening to the opening episode of the new series of I’m Sorry, I Haven’t a Clue.

Right now?

Pippa Evans is singing the words of The Teddy Bears Picnic … to the tune of Leonard Cohen’s Hallelujah!

I would seriously give that show a listen: especially if you’ve never heard it!

~≈👽≈~

At any rate … ?

It’s Monday: so … ?

I’m going to be having dinner, watching an old friend’s comic book video … then watching “The Spies” …

I’ll be seeing you, tomorrow … !

Star Trek Picard — Series 3 Episode 7 — Dominion — A Review

31st March, 2023: ‘Dominion’.

It’s Friday, again.

You can tell, can’t you … ?

The eternal mystery of why we’re supposed to have fish on a Friday is playing itself in front of me — or, at least, to my immediate right — as I write.

Or, at least, I’ve got fish and chips — and some vegetables — on the go as I speak.

Why … ?

Why not?

~≈🖖≈~

At any rate, there’s something else I’ll be thinking about.

Yesterday?

I had a one hour appeal hearing: about whether I qualified for extra financial help from the Department of Work and Pensions.

Hopefully, I will: but … ?

Until I hear — by post, by the 7th April — I won’t know for sure.

It’s both a mystery … and a mildly frustrating case of wait and see.

~≈🖖≈~

At any rate … ?

And I’ll say it, again … it’s Friday.

Which means simply this.

Once I’ve had dinner, I’ll be watching ‘Dominion’, the next episode of Star Trek Picard’s third and final season.

I’ll have my review up, tomorrow.

See you then!

For All Mankind — Series 3 Episode 7 — Bring It Down — A Review

19th March, 2023: ‘Bring It Down’.

Right … Sundays …

Sundays are the one day of the week that I spend quality time with my family.

I did: it is Mother’s day, after all.

I think we can safely say a fun time was had by all … bar the broken water glass.

At any rate?

I’m now home: and just about to sit down with a large mug of tea: and ‘Bring It Down’, the next episode of For All Mankind.

Last week’s episode ended up with an argument.

This week’s episode?

Could go anywhere!

Star Trek Strange New Worlds — Episode 7 — The Serene Squall — A Review

4th November, 2022.

Right … I’m writing this — as I have done for the past few weeks — on a late Friday afternoon.

Or possibly an early evening.

Whatever it is at 17·30 in November.

Dinner — fish and chips, again! — is on the proverbial go.

After that … ?

Frankly, after that, I’ll be doing what I’ve been doing of the past few weeks.

I’ll be watching The Serene Squall: the next episode of Star Trek Strange New Worlds.

I hope you care to join me for the thing.

Star Trek Picard — Series 2 Episode 7 — Monsters — A Review

5th August, 2022.

It’s got to be said, it’s Friday, again!

You know that: you’ve looked at the calendar, in the same way I’ve done!

If you’ve read today’s Teaser?

You’ve possibly worked out I had a couple of phone meetings: which went well enough.

And — if you’ve been following me a while — that I like a TV show or two.

Currently?   I’m watching series four of Stranger Things on Tuesdays, and releasing my reviews on Wednesdays.

Fridays?   Today, in other words?

I’m doing my usual thing …

Watching the next episode of Star Trek Picard.

Once the chips are done!

Star Trek Discovery — Series 4 Episode 7 — …But To Connect — A Review

6th May, 2022.

Right …

It’s becoming something of a tradition for me: watching TV on a Friday evening.

The past few months have seen me watching Galaxy Four: and starting on the fourth season Star Trek Discovery.

I still want to catch The Book of Boba Fett: and the second series of Star Trek Picard.

We’ll have to see how that goes!

At any rate?

It’s a Friday.

And, once I’ve had dinner?   I’m going to watch …But To Connect.

You’ll see this post finished, tomorrow night at the latest.

Doctor Who — The Evil of the Daleks: Episode 7 — A Review

21st January, 2022.

It’s got to be said, I’ve got back from Chelmsford.

I’m unemployed: so have to do various courses, and take part in assorted programmes or be sanctioned.

Have my benefit stopped, in other words.

I was in Chelmsford to attend one of those meetings.

I think we can safely my legs hurt: all that walking from home to station, from station to office, and back … ?

Was definitely tiring!

At any rate … ?

I’m home: and going to have dinner.

Once that’s done?

I’m going to watch the last episode of The Evil of The Daleks.

If all goes well, I’ll finish my written and video reviews for you, by tomorrow night.

Here’s hoping … !

Lovecraft Country — Series 1 Episode 7 — I Am: A Review

19th October, 2021.

Right at the moment … ?

I’ve got a baked potato in the oven: ever so slowly crisping up.

And I’ve some of my famous — or possibly notorious — beef stew ready to be popped in the microwave.

I’ll be having dinner at some point in the next half an hour.

Then … ?

I’ll be watching episode 7 of Lovecraft Country: something I’ve been following these past few weeks.

I’ll be taking a set of — ha! — extensive notes, and drafting a post.

One I’ll put up tomorrow night: after I’ve had some sleep.

OK: ten years ago, I’d’ve finished the post on the evening I’d watched the episode.

But?

Getting some sleep in between now and tomorrow gets more appealing, the older I get!

For All Mankind — Series 2 Episode 7 — Don’t Be Cruel — A Review

18th May, 2021.

Any minute now … ?

I’m going to hit the sack.

Really.

I’ve got some entertaining bedtime really — A Nomad of the Time Streams — that’s just getting to the good bits.

But … ?   As is getting to be something of a tradition, I’ve watched another episode of For All Mankind, made a few rudimentary notes …

And wanted to at least get started on the post.

I’ll be back … after this snooze … !

The Mandalorian — Series 2 Episode 7 — Chapter 15 The Believer — A Review

20th March, 2021.

Yes …

This is getting to be something of a habit, by now.

Sitting in from of a screen, I should say.

Right now?   I’m sitting in front of a computer screen: having had a dinner that’s either too big, too small, or just too damn unhealthy for my own good.

An — arguably — home made cheese burger.

Or home cooked, at least.

Eaten whilst watching Star Trek Lower Decks: which I’m not going to write about.

There’s only so much time in the day, after all!

At any rate … ?

I have seen episode 7 of The Mandalorian.

And, with some Dave Brubeck in the background?

Wanted to set up my review of the episode, tonight: and finish it, tomorrow.

It gives me the chance to tell you to take … five …

Star Trek Discovery — Series 3 Episode 7 — Unification III — A Review.

19th December, 2020.

Right … it’s a Saturday night: and I’m writing this introduction: in the knowledge I’ve just seen another episode of Star Trek Discovery’s third series.

And writing it towards the end of a day that’s started badly.

Go read today’s Teaser, if you’d like to know more!

At any rate … ?

Before I hit the sack, I wanted you to know I’d seen Unification III.

And that my bedtime listening … ?

Is the complete recordings of the late Robert Johnson.

If those eighty-three years songs don’t scare the life out of you … ?

I don’t know what will … !

Watchmen — Series 1 Episode 7 — An Almost Religious Awe — A Review

3rd November, 2020.

Hmmm …

I have to admit, it’s a Tuesday evening.

You’ve possibly worked that out, looking at the date at the start of this entry.

Frankly?

It’s an evening on the day I’ve rearranged an appointment, and — currently — trying to register for the NHS eConsult service: so I can try and talk to my GP.

That’s …

Well, that could be a lot simpler, let’s put it that way.

It wants my provisional driving license, a photo, wants to scan my face, what’s my NHS number — if possible — and possibly wants to sing to me.

Don’t even mention the SatNav!

At any rate … ?

It’s a Tuesday: so, given I have time?   I’m making a start of a review: of the next episode of Watchmen, series one.

I’ll finish it, tomorrow.

~≈😶≈~

4th November, 2020.

It’s another day, and another dollar.

Which seems appropriate: as, whilst I write, the BBC’s news channel is covering the US Presidential election.

Right now, Joe Biden has 227 of the required 270 electoral college votes: versus Trump’s 213.

Quite what will happen, I don’t know.

I hope Joe Biden wins: President Trump seems to be the least presidential President I can remember seeing.

But, at this rate … ?

We’ll probably only know for sure, by the end of the week!

~≈😶≈~

As a last thought … ?

If you haven’t read today’s Teaser?

I’m making goulash, tonight: after having to go back into town, today … to get peppers.

Which, if nothing else, means I have some more Nectar points on my loyalty card.

Hay ho!

At any rate, let’s move on, shall we?

~≈😶≈~

The Mandalorian — Series 1 Chapter 7 — The Reckoning — A Review

4th September, 2020.

Right …

I’ll happily admit I was feeling decidedly glum, this morning.

I suffer with mild depression: and, after getting a funding request turned down?

Was feeling the emotional after effects.

Believe it or not?

I think telling you — yes, you, Mr, Ms or Mx Reader — seemed to help.

I’m not especially religious: certainly not Roman Catholic.

But I think that the Church may have a point: that the act of confession may have some uses.

~≈†≈~

Right at the moment?

You’re possibly aware that I’ve been blogging for many years.

Nik Nak’s Old Peculiar has been around for a while and seen a few changes.

At the moment?

I’m using the latest change to the interface that let’s me post.

I’m still unsure about it.

The Labels section — near the Publish button — seems to have been improved.

However, and as you can see in this experimental post?   The new interface cannot accept YouTube or Spotify embed codes.

Nor will it accept html tags.

Something the Legacy interface does very well.

I’m hoping that’s something Google will improve.

~≈†≈~

At any rate?

This was not — at least not completely — what I wanted to tell you.

No.

I’ve been watching TV.

Again.

And, as you’ve possibly worked out from the poster?

I’ve caught the penultimate episode of series one of The Mandalorian.

Ladies and gentlemen, we have a cliffhanger.

Penny Dreadful: City of Angels — Series 1 Episode 7 — Maria and the Beast — A Review

7th June, 2020.

Yes: I have been stuck indoors!

Waiting for a boiler repair man.

Long story: but basically?

The thermostat’s gone home!

I hate being stuck indoors … but sometimes, you can’t avoid it.

At any rate … ?

At least I could catch some TV.

You’re right.

Another episode of Penny Dreadful: City of Angels’s first series.

Star Trek Picard — Series 1 Episode 7 — Nepenthe — A Review

2nd April, 2020.

Hmmm …

I’m having a problem, here.

Or was.

I was trying to find a way to open this post.

Telling you I’m having trouble starting it?   Seems as good a way as any, to start.

At any rate, I’m in the UK: life under lockdown is …

Well, quiet: the trains are running a Sunday shrive, the traffic’s a lot quieter … and the neighbours don’t seem to be out much.

Personally?

I’m still job hunting, laundering …

And frankly?

Watching TV.

And frankly?

Watching yet another episode of Star Trek Picard, series one.

~≈Ç≈~
