Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 8-2-2026 — Taxi Driver

8th February, 2026: Taxi Driver.

Poo!

My toaster’s broken!

Or, at least, the slider that lowers the bread into the slots has gone.

The clicky little mechanism that holds the thing in place has gone, I should say.

Drat, double drat, and dang.

That means I’m going to have to use the oven to make toast: until I can afford a new one.

Ho … hum … !

~≈🍞≈~

One thing I DID manage to do, yesterday … ?

Was order various repeat medications.

Although there may be an issue with 75mg aspirin I take for my heart.

My chemists, Brentwood’s ever reliable PharmChoice, have told me they will be putting in for That repeat: but there is a problem with the aspirin, as there’s a national shortage of the stuff.

However?

I’ve just enough — I hope! — to last me until my next doctor’s appointment.

Hopefully, we should be able to arrange alternatives, if needed.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 8-2-2025 — The Birth of a Nation.

8th February, 2025: The Birth of a Nation.

Right, then: it’s a drab, rainy, Saturday morning.

Or, at least, the weather look’s as bad as it did, last night.

Frankly, I’m glad I stayed in to watch a film.

I’ll have that review up, later!

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 8th February 2024.

8th February, 2024.

Yes!

It’s officially official.

It’s, officially, raining out!

Frankly?

I was thinking of picking up a bag of vegetables.

But, on the other hand?

The monsoon we’ve got out there, is putting me off!

Heigh-ho!

~≈∑≈~

It has to be said, I’m glad it wasn’t this damp, yesterday.

That’s when I had to have more blood taken: for more testing.

Remind me — next time I have to do these — to ask what some of them are: they took seven whole pits!

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 8th February 2023.

8th February, 2023.

Yes: it’s official.

I managed to buy a replacement set of blinds, yesterday: as well as host my nephew, Jude.

Chicken strips, potato wedges and a video were the order of the day.

If someone could hit the Like button — or teach Grandma how to share it from YouTube — he’d appreciate it.

At any rate, I mentioned the blinds … ?

I bought some, yesterday: but I’m going to have to take it back.

There’s a couple of plastic rings on Wilko’s-brand blinds: that are supposed to be near the bottom of the string pulleys that let you operate the thing.

The ones on this?   Are jammed up against the top.

And preventing the blinds from dropping.

Frankly?

Back up Warley Hill I go: if I can’t get it replaced, I’d like my money back.

Antlers — A Review

8th February, 2022.

Can I make a quick confession?

I’ve started writing this post on Tuesday, 8th February: hence the dateline at the top of the article.

And back when I only had an idea I wanted to sit in and watch a film: without necessarily having made up my mind about what I wanted to see.

Little Joe, Godzilla vs Kong, Last Night in Soho … ?

All look good.

However?

I’ve pretty much got my mind set on Antlers.

Purely because the trailer looks interesting.

By the time you read this, I will have written my review, recorded its video equivalent …

And be able to tell you.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 8th February, 2022.

8th February, 2022.

Yes: I think I’ve overused the word, ‘official,’ there!

But … ?

I think I’ve made my point.

I’ve got a meeting with my Job Centre case worker, today.

Hopefully, she’ll be phoning on time: we had a hairy few minutes, last week!

~≈Ÿ≈~

If you’re following the news in the UK?

You’ll know the government is planning an Online Harms Bill.

And that, as part of that … ?

Planning on introducing age verification, in order to access porn sites.

Possibly a good thing.

Possibly a bad thing.

But definitely something that’s easy to get around.

Especially if you can find a VPN: or something like TorBrowser.

Both of which allow you to you to browse the ’Net … as if you were in another country.

I get the impression my eleven-year-old nephew, Jude, might not be able to figure that out, now.

But it shouldn’t take long, given the right incentive.

~≈Ÿ≈~

Talking of Jude?

He’s done another video!

I know video football games aren’t everyone’s cuppa, but would you mind hitting Like or Subscribe?

You’d really be boosting his confidence.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 8th February, 2021

8th February, 2021.

Right …

I think I can safely say I spent a lot of time, indoors, yesterday.

We had snow … !

From what I’ve learnt from Old Peculiar regular, Edith, over the past few days?

Not as much as in Pennsylvania.

Nor, I suspect, as in Maryland: home state to Debbi.

But … ?

Well, I wasn’t going too far.

Not living at the bottom of a hill!

~≈❆≈~

Hmm …

It’s a Monday: after a weekend.

Obviously.

Given Friday and Saturday involved a possible job?

I’m wondering when I’ll hear back from my Work and Health case worker: I’d hate to be tapping my feet for a week.

For All Mankind — Series 1 Episode 10 — A City Upon a Hill — A Review

8th February, 2020.

You know, I think I’ve had a quiet day, today.

Really.

Well … bar the usual jobhunting, cleaning, weight watching …

And wondering what the HELL the banging noises are, from upstairs.

One of these days?

I’ll go up there, and ask!

At any rate … ?

It’s been quiet enough that — frankly? — I’ve been bored.

And managed to more TV that I usually do.

Including The Body in the Pool, the documentary about the death of a young man called Stuart Lubbock: at the home of entertainer, Michael Barrymore.

Quite what happened, there?

I’m still not sure, either.

Although the statements made in the documentary tell us Lubbock was raped, then murdered.

I can believe that: as many of those statements came from the four pathologists.

Frankly?

We’ll never know.

~≈†≈~

At any rate … ?

That wasn’t necessarily the TV show I was going to watch.

Nope.

I was intent on finishing what I started … and watching the last episode of For All Mankind, Series 1.

Ahem!

~≈†≈~

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 8th February, 2020.

8th February, 2020.

It has to be said …

I’m spending a lot of late nights watching TV.

Or, at least, watching For All Mankind.

With last night’s episode featuring suspicious Soviets, rocket rescues and bodies in airlocks?

It was worth the effort.

~≈¥≈~

One thing that’s caught my eye?

Is Microsoft’s Xbox division announcing that Nintendo and Sony — the companies behind the Switch, and the Playstion — aren’t its main rivals.

It’s Google and Amazon.

Which seemed counter-intuitive, to me.

Until I watch a video from LinusTechTips, over on Youtube.

One that made a very good point or two.

Naming Amazon may have been a bad choice.

But naming Google’s Stadia was an idea.

After all, in North America?

Macs and Chromeboxes are the default educational machines.

Get gamers buying them when they’re kids?

And you could be on to a long term winner …

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 8th February

8th February, 2018.

Arrrggghhh!

I’ve got an earworm … !

I know I’ve mentioned the idea, before now.

But, just in case you didn’t know what an earworm is, it’s a song: it’s, more specifically, the song that — sometimes for no apparently reason — is currently, and repetitively, going through your head.

I usually get the beggars first thing in the morning.

And this morning?

It’s Madame Butterfly.

By Malcolm McLaren.

Blowed if I know why!

~≈§≈~

Just so you know … ?

And just in case you were reading me, yesterday?

Yes: I’ve had the hospital appointment: the one checking out the chest pains I’ve been getting.

Hmmm …

In the nurse’s opinion — after a whole series of questions, a stethoscope to the chest and another ECG — I’m not looking at angina …

Yet.

But she is concerned enough to want to book me up for a CT scan: to check on my coronary arteries.

It’s long and drawn out.

But all good.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 8-2-2017: Midnight at the Rue Jules Verne

Did I mention I’ve a friend and neighbour, called Faye?

Lovely woman, Faye: and usually good for a tip of two about an interesting horror movie.

Faye’s got a kid sister called Lorna, who work’s at a London-based charity called Ability Bow.

The charity’s purpose?   Is the gym it runs for the disabled: that enables those with disabilities, and serious physical health conditions to get back on their feet, sooner.

Like most charities?   Ability Bow has a website, a Facebook page, a Twitter feed …

Ands a shortage of funds.

Which is why Lorna, much to her pleasure, found herself plastered all over the BBC’s London news, yesterday.

Both at one-thirty and six-thirty.

They’re facing closure inside of eight weeks, if they don’t.

Personally?   I’ve been teasing her relentlessly: she’s now a singer, dancer, actress, model, page 3 stunna, charity campaigner, origami specialist … and doing all of this with one hand tied behind her back, whilst defeating Evil Harry Dread.

All teasing aside?

I’m thinking if a charity’s made the local news?

Especially one that someone I know’s involved with?

The least I can do is mention it: and point everyone at Ability Bow’s donation page.

Here.

You’ll be doing a good cause a favour.
