Star Trek Discovery — Series 4 Episode 11 — Rosetta — A Review

3rd June, 2022.

Right at the moment … ?

The Jubilee — for me, anyway — is something of a damp squib.

Congratulations to Her Majesty: she’s done an incredible job, these past few years.

But … ?

I’m going to be watching another episode of Star Trek Discovery’s fourth season, tonight, rather than hit a street party.

To me, Rosetta looks looks far more relevant than a party, or the repeated BBC news interview with Rod Stewart!

At any rate?   As always, I’ve started writing this review on Friday: the night I’m actually watching the episode: in the hope that it’s going to be a little pacier than the past few week’s episode.

We’ll have to see, won’t we?

Star Trek Discovery — Series 3 Episode 11 — Su’Kal — A Review

16th January, 2021.

I have to admit, I’m getting the hang of a couple of things.

The first?

Those introduction videos.

Saying that … ?

I may need to do them slightly differently.

Just a straight “I’m having dinner, then I’m going to watch TV,” seems to be … well …

Not quite doing myself justice.

At any rate?

Yes: I’ve had dinner.

Pasta: with home made bolognese sauce: with added spring onions, as I had some begging.

It was certainly fragrant, cooking.

And yes: I’ve seen episode eleven of Star Trek Discovery’s third series.

El Ministerio del Tiempo/The Ministry of Time — Series 3: Episode 11 — Tiempo de verbena/Time of Verbena — A Review

8th June, 2019.

Right …

Tea, drunk …

Chocolate … ?

Eaten.

Although I’m not sure that’s necessarily a good thing.

At any rate, right now?

I have to confess to the strangest thing.

I’ve got one of Spotify’s ambient playlist’s on in the background.

Weirdly?

Their Train Sounds list.

Weird … because the front window’s open: and I live next to a train line … !

Weird, yes.

But also soothing.

Sue me, already.

~≈§≈~

At any rate: it’s another night off.

Which, given I’m unemployed?   Is possibly unsurprising.

What’s equally unsurprising … ?

Is that I’ve managed to keep myself occupied, these past few weeks, watching TV shows.

The current favourite … ?

And yes …

It’s looking good, tonight …

Star Trek Discovery — Series 2 Episode 11: Perpetual Infinity — A Review

29th March, 2019.

Yep: my health is a mess.

If you’ve been following me for a while, you’ll possibly know — or have guessed from my videos — that I’m over weight.

You’ll possibly also realise I’ve suffered mild depression for many years.

And have what my GP’s tentatively diagnosed as Irritable Bowel Syndrome.

The list could go on.

Today, though?

I’ve received a letter from them, after a recent batch of blood tests: relating to my underachieve thyroid.

It turns out I’ve got a vitamin D deficiency.

More than probably relating to my weight.

Hmmm …

Sunshine and oily fish it is, then: along side cod liver oil.

On a more serious note … ?

From what I can see of the symptoms?

It does makes sense of the depression, AND tiredness that’s plagued me for many years …

We’ll have to see, when any treatment starts …

~≈§≈~

At ANY rate … ?

Battling tiredness is …

Well, a good thing.

Especially if you have something you want to watch of an evening.

Yes: it’s Friday.

Yes, that means it’s time for another epode of Star Trek: Discovery, Series two …

American Horror Story — Series 7: Cult — Episode 9, 10 And 11: Drink the Kool-Aid, Charles (Manson) in Charge and Great Again.

26th September, 2018.

Right …

You’ve possible may or may not know it … but I’m having trouble at work …

Basically, the amount of shifts, next week … ?

Are down to one.

Too long for Dick and too short for Richard.

After seeking VARIOUS bits of advise … ?

In in a situation where — with the way the benefit systems works — I can’t walk out or hand in my notice.

I have to be sacked or laid off: in order to not have problems, claiming.

It’s … frustrating.

~≈§≈~

On the up-side?

For starters, the time I invested in upgrading from macOS High Sierra to Mojave is … time well spent, I think.

Dark mode is bloody distracting … but the dynamic wallpaper — that slowly changes from day to night — is rather nice.

As is the handle bar: the one that lets you adjust the screens in split screen mode?

Strikes me that’ll be useful.

~≈§≈~

But I’m distracted, here, aren’t I … ?

By eye-candy!

I MEANT to tell you about the last three episodes of American Horror StoryCult.

American Horror Story — Series 5: Hotel — Episode 10 and 11: ‘She Gets Revenge’ and ‘Battle Royale’

13th May, 2018.

Yes: it’s a Sunday … AND a day off …

And just a little worrying that, on top of laundry, I’ve managed to catch an afternoon snooze.

Of quite a bit more time than I was expecting to get.

Possibly a bad thing.

Or possibly just something that’s telling me I need more sleep than I’m actually getting.

Hmmm …

The money being what it is, right now?   Means I’m looking at the ‘heating or eating’ question more frequently than I’d’ve expected, back when I started my current job.

I get help: from both family, and the government.

But still … it’s not a good place to be in …

Given that … ?

Well, sleeping a lot seems inconsequential.

Relatively speaking.

I DO know, though, that a day off?   Is a good time to be doing any extra sleeping.

AND, whilst I’m awake?

To be catching up wit more TV.

Yep: I’ve seen two more episodes of American Horror Story’s fifth series, Hotel.

Yes: I think we’re coming to a climax …

Star Trek: Discovery — Episode 11: The Wolf Inside

15th January, 2018.

Down that way … ?!

Ha … !

Or possibly even hmmm …

Did I tell you I recently managed to pick up a cheap webcam, recently?

I’ve figured out that the mic works … occasionally, it seems.

But at least enough to record some video of yours truly, actually asking quiz questions: rather than relying on slideshows.

Trust me, it’s not especially clever, or pretty.

But is starting to … you know … give me a taste for the camera.

~≈§≈~

At any rate … ?

At ANY rate, me wittering on about a new found taste for vlogging superstardom is sort of beside the point.

The actual point?

Is that both the video — and the cheesy video self portrait — is to tell you I’ve seen The Wolf Inside, this week’s episode of Star Trek: Discovery.

And, yes, the series is still looking rather good.

American Horror Story — Series 4: Freak Show — Episode 11: Magical Thinking

11th November, 2017

It’s official.

I’ve done dafter things: but staying up late isn’t one of them.

Or possibly is.

At any rate?

I’m up comparatively late: after a five o’clock start.

Working days: you have to love it.

Frankly?   I’ve another early start, tomorrow.

With, of course, another five o’clock start on the cards.

Foolishly, and if I mistime things?

That means a couple of things.

Either I’m a fool.

OR I’ve had time for just one episode of American Horror Story’s fourth season.

Yes … magical thinking seems an apt title.

Or possibly not

House of Cards — Series 5: Episodes 11, 12 & 13 — Chapters 63, 64 and 65

18th October, 2017.

There’s something of an old …

No, there’s something of a new slogan doing the rounds: over the past few years.

An advertising slogan, so you know.

“You should’ve gone to Specsavers.”

Britain’s budget optician are very reasonable, on price.

But charged me £7·50, the last time I needed a repair.

An arm dropped off my regular glasses.

That’s another few quid going their way.

Once I get paid!

~≈Â≈~

Not that it’s completely irrelevant to what I’m doing.

Ish!

Frankly, I’ve managed to buy an album: by Karlheinz Stockhausen, consisting of parts one and two of Kontakte, and a previous electronic work of his, called Gesang der Jünglinge.

I bought it on a whim, to be honest.

I’ve taken a vague — very vague — interest in eleoctronic music: having grown up on the theme tune to Dr Who, And the likes of Gary Numan, OMD and Hot Butter’s Popcorn.

The whim itself?

Got provoked by seeing today’s Google Doodle: marking the studio where a lot of Stockhausen’s electronic stuff was recorded.

Hmmm …

It’s an album worth hearing, I think: especially if the soundtrack to Forbidden Planet is up your street.

American Horror Story — Series 3: Coven — Episodes 10 and 11: The Magical Delights of Stevie Nicks & Protecting the Coven.

18th September, 2017

You know, this is possibly going To be the last post I’ll write of an evening.

Until … oooh, I don’t know …

Probably Friday, at the earliest, now I come to think of it.

Frankly?

I’ve had the weekend off.

And today.

Which — if you’re sharp — means you’d work out I’m back At work, tomorrow.

I’m … feeling as ambiguous as one normally does in these situations.

But … ?

I felt I should spend the evening typing, after watching more American Horror Story.

The album in the background?

The Age of Plastic, by the  Buggles.

Although I seriously wish I could find Nicky Moore’s version of Heartbreak Hotel on Spotify!

The episodes, though?

Episodes ten and eleven of American Horror Story’s third series.

American Horror Story — Series 2: Asylum — Episodes 10 and 11: The Name Game and Spilt Milk

18th July, 2017

Right …

I can officially say it’s just a little bit toasty, around here.

19º … and cloudy: although I’m told it’s been warmer, today.

I’m ALSO told … ?

That we’re expecting thunderstorms.

Although, right now?   I’m finding that hard to believe.

Either way … ?

Either way, I’ve had time off, today.

And … ?

Felt that, frankly, I need to catch up with Asylum: season two of American Horror Story.

Another two episodes seemed just the thing.

Although I wasn’t expecting The Singing Detective … !

American Horror Story — Series 1: Murder House — Episodes 11 & 12 Birth and Afterbirth

5th July, 2017

Oh, right …

I think that’s sort of what I had in mind, possibly.

Right now?

I’ve got Machine Age Voodoo, by Australian noise band, SPK.

Mostly because I can remember seeing one song — Metal Dance — on The Tube, many years ago.

Top of the Tops, the BBC’s long running music show?

Was relatively mainstream: featuring whatever happened to be in the charts, mimed by the artists.

The Tube?   Could be really way out: live

Which is why Metal Dance stuck in my my mind.

The band did it live, looked like they walked straight off the set of a Mad Max film, were decidedly odd …

And had live angle-grinders as part of the gig!

Odd doesn’t even start!

Dr Who — Series 10: Episode 11 — World Enough and Time

25th June, 2017

*Spoilers*

It’s late …

At least, it’s late … for an ageing blogger with poor health, worse dental hygiene, and a tendency to fart.

And who’s got back home from work to a Marmite sandwich, and a bag of crisps.

You’d think that maybe heading for bed would be a sensible idea, wouldn’t you?

You might think so.

I couldn’t possibly comment.

Actually?

Yes, I could.

It would make sense: if I wasn’t a Dr Who fan who missed this weeks episode when it was originally broadcast, last night.

From where I’m sitting?

I’ve just seen World Enough and Time.

And?

I’m thinking it’s an absolutely delicious nightmare of an episode.

Mr Robot — Series 2: Episodes 11 and 12 — eps2.9_pyth0n-pt1.p7z and eps2.9_pyth0n-pt2.p7z

31st May, 2017.

Right …

That’s that done …

Hmmm …

I supposed I’d better tell you what I’m talking about, hadn’t I … ?

Jus in case you’re not one of my regular readers, my name’s Paul, I work in a call centre in Chelmsford — we take calls for social landlord tenants who need emergency repairs — and live in Brentwood.

I’m an ex-pub-quiz-master who writes the hopefully entertainingly Daily Teaser.

I’m someone getting annoyed by the amount of calls from the kind of call centres telling me I’m entitled to a PPI compensation, or compensation for an accident I had, or that I’ve won a Morrison’s voucher.

I’ve had about five, already, today.

With one or two?   I’ve answered the phone, but just not talked to them.   They get bored and hang up.

But I’m thinking I should get a football referee’s whistle.   I’ve had half a dozen calls like that: one of them is going to get a headache …

At ANY rate … ?

At any rate, one thing I do, when I have time off — along with sweeping, laundry and washing up — is catching a film, or a TV show.

Tonight?

Tonight was a TV show.

Tonight was the last two episodes of series two of Mr Robot.

And yes: the techno-geeky that’s my current fave?

And ended on another tense note.

House of Cards — Series 4: Episodes 11, 12 & 13 (Chapters 50, 51 and 52)

Recently?

Recently, you’ll have realised I’m back to job-hunting.

So there’s thing’s I’m going to be economising on.

Hopefully?

I won’t have to lose net access: what with BT’s prices changing over the years.

Although I stress hopefully, there.

One thing I do know may — depending on circumstances — will suffer?

Is my viewing habits.

As you MAY realise, I’ve been able to buy and watch the odd box-set: and write about them here.

Given the job situation?   That may slow down, if not stop.   But we’ll have to see, won’t we?

~≈ß≈~

Right at the moment?

I’m aware of a few things.

I’m aware I’ve got enough iTunes credit to rent a few movies, and possibly catch up with one or two box-sets.

Should I be able to balance the budget.

After all, I’ve still not seen season three of Penny Dreadful, nor of The Strain: something I’d like to do.

But?

As I got the box set, before the job situation came crashing down around my ears, the one thing I was able to do, was see the last three episodes of season four of House of Cards.

And yes …

I THINK the series is a good investment …

House of Cards — Series 3: Episode 11 (Chapter 37)

You know, I really have to work around stuff!

Or possibly not!

No, thinking about it, I’m right.

Today … ?

I’ve been frantically writing more teasers: AND  the appropriate video.

Whilst heading out, shopping.

And frankly?   Washing my socks!

As I couldn’t do all of THAT lot, tomorrow: as I’m on a long shift!

You know, if it wasn’t for the collection of TV box-sets I’ve got, sitting around?

I’d be bored, stiff!

~≈Ê≈~

Thankfully, though … ?

Thankfully, I’ve got enough TV shows banked up: to watch as and when.

Right now … ?

I’m sitting at my desk, with OMD’s Dazzle Ships playing in the background …

Having caught another episode of House of Cards third season.

And, yes: it’s looking good.

~≈Ê≈~

The Strain Series 1 — Episodes 11, 12 & 13: Third Rail, Last Rites and The Master …

You know, I’ve got into an awfully bad habit.

No, wait, scrub that: I’ve HAD some awfully bad habits.

Most of which I’m really not going to talk about, here!

But one … bad … ?

One habit I’ve fallen into, recently, is something a lot of us are doing.

Yes …

I’ve started to binge watch TV box sets.   As if you hadn’t noticed.

And, if you’ve been following on for a while … ?

You’ll know I’d’ve lined up not one, not two, but three — the last three — episodes of series one of … The Strain.

I’m easily impressed by good genre TV: and series 1 …

~≈Â≈~

House of Cards — Series 2: Episodes 10 and 11

You know, I THINK I’ve had some interesting news, tonight.

Concerning the order I’d put in, for a four terabyte internal hard drive.

Let’s just say that — with a little help from a regular reader — I’ve had something of a result.

Including a £20 gift card.

At ANY rate … ?

That’s possibly something for the morning.

~≈Ú≈~

At any rate … ?

Something I know I’ve been meaning to do since before Christmas?   And only now — with some time off — been able to do is catch up with something I’ve been watching.

Series 2 of the excellent Netflix version of House of Cards.

Given it’s been a few weeks … ?

I thought it was about time I sat down down with the next two episodes: episodes 10 and 11 …

Well, I don’t know about you, but I’d like to know what’s going in Washington …

Dr Who Series 9: Episode 11 — Heaven Sent

You know, I have to admit to having a godawful day at work.

‘Lighting Up Brentwood,’ the day MY town turns on its Christmas lights?

Is usually busy.

Frantically so.

And what’s more … ?
It usually features some truly snotty teenage punters.

Using the term ‘punter,’ very lightly, here.

At ANY rate … ?

At any Rate, Brentwood’s Christmas lights are on, for 2015.

It’s just a shame that — as ever — the lights we have … are … underwhelming …

But, after work … ?

After work held something of a treat.

You see, it’s a Saturday night.

A Saturday night when I’ve gotten home in time to catch tonight’s episode of Dr Who.

~≈Ÿ≈~

House of Cards — Series 1: Episodes 10 and 11

You know, I have to confess, I do like a good TV show.

You’ve noticed that, haven’t you … ?

After all, I’ve been writing about various TV shows for some time, now.

Just recently … ?

You’d possibly have realised I’ve caught Penny Dreadful …

And, over the past few nights, the US version of House of Cards.

At least, the first series.

Tonight, I caught episodes 10 and 11.

And … ?

I’m impressed.

~≈§≈~
