Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 23rd September 2025.

23rd September, 2025.

Phew: that’s gone!

I’m diabetic, if you didn’t know.

So I have a once a week injection of Mounjaro: and have to test my blood sugar levels at least twice a day.

So have what’s called a ‘sharps bin’: a small plastic bin that I put waste needles in.

The local council collects them: after I fill in an online form.

That collection was due, this morning: and would’ve stopped, collected the bin, and moved on.

Assuming I’d put it out last night.

I know what you’re thinking: you’re thinking “Did you put the bin out, Paul???????”

Did you, Paul?”

Yes, I did, actually!

At 5:30, this morning.

Thing was picked up at 6:30: I hear the lorry, while I was prepping up this post.

Thanks heavens for that.

The suspense was killing me!

Hmmm …

As a minor point … ?

I’ve recently upgraded from macOS Sequoia to macOS Tahoe.

And … ?

The new games app — that’s supposed to make access to games on a Mac, easier — doesn’t.

Or, at least, can’t or won’t access the two open source games I have on my machine.

There’s possibly a mix of things doing that: probably both Apple and the games’ developers are at fault, there.

But that’s inconvenient.

There’s also the new Apps app: which replaced Launchpad.

That’s still taking some getting used to.

Frankly?

I’d’ve been happier if Apple had kept that.

Apparently?

The US president’s most recent announcement tells pregnant American women to avoid Tylenol: what’s called paracetamol in the UK.

As — he says — it can cause autism.

There’s very little scientific evidence to back that up.

Given the amount of twaddle the president, and others, have peddled, twaddle about vaccinations, COVID-19, and lord knows what else … ?

I feel the president is unwise.

But I knew that, anyway …

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 23rd September, 2022

23rd September, 2022.

Yep: Thursday is now officially finished.

One that — for me — was rather long.

A weight management meeting in the morning, a meeting with my Job Centre case worker, in the afternoon.

Oh, and a ’flu jab in the evening.

My arm hasn’t fallen off, yet: thankfully.

At any rate?

Today is Friday: payday.

I — thankfully — haven’t been sanctioned after being late for a meeting, a few weeks ago.

So … it’s payday.

I’m the day after my phone bill came in: showing that I’m one hundred and twenty pounds in credits, after negotiating a new contract.

I’m thankful.

It means I can put an extra few pounds on gas and electricity meters.

The Cost of Living payment — the one that’s due in the autumn — can’t get to people soon enough.

Just as a last thought … ?

I’ve a couple of podiatrist appointments due, over the next couple of weeks.

And I have to ask, as I did in the intro video.

Is it ‘po-de-a-trist,’ or ‘po-DIE-a-trist’?

I’m blowed if I know … !

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 23rd September, 2020.

23rd September, 2020.

Yes: I’ve had a late night.

Or, at least, comparatively late: compared to late nights I had when I was a teenager.

Isn’t is always the way?

At any rate … ?

I was up, watching Watchmen.

I have to say, I was impressed with Penny Dreadful: City of Angels and The Mandalorian.

Watchman?

Is a step or two above both.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 12-2-2020: Georgia on my Mind

12th February, 2020.

Hmmm …

I follow the news, occasionally.

With an interest in technology subjects.

One piece that has caught my eye, today?

Was that Ofcom — the UK’s media regulator — now has power to police social media sites for harmful content.

Child abuse images, decapitation videos, cyber bullying, what have you.

It’s a nice idea.

But … ?

I don’t know how much clout the UK’s regulator would have.

After all, most of the tech giants concerned — Facebook, Twitter, Weibo — are based in other counties.

Primarily, the US, Russia and China.

I think … that this move would have had more clout, had we still been members of the European Union.

Being a member of an EU regulator, Ofcom would have a lot more oomph.

The Daily Teaser — 27-5-2015

Blimey, that was a mild shock …

You’ve probably realised I’m working, now: haven’t you … ?

As a cashier at a local fast food restaurant.

Last night … ?

I was happily working away — on a busy Friday — when an ex-girlfriend walked in with her date … !!

BIT of a shocker, there …

For both of us, I think.

Certainly for me: this was a relationship that was …

…

…

Yeah …

Like that … !

Like I say …

That was a mild shocker …
