Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 5-9-2025 — On the Road.

5th September, 2025: On the Road.

Were you here, yesterday?

Then you’ll know two things.

I had my quarterly, HbA1c, test, yesterday.

And … ?

The bulb in the lamp sitting next to me failed.

I’m going to try and get replacement bulbs, today.

They’re needed, I think.

But … ?

And wouldn’t you know it … ?

The damn lamp switched on, this morning.

I think I’m getting a case of the hives …

~≈🐝≈~

I also had blood tests, yesterday.

And … ?

The results should come in, in about a week or so.

I have a phone appointment on the 26th: which is where I find out the results.

This morning, though … ?

I’ve got the radio on, as always: and the BBC News, and the Today programme, has told me thousands of people will need re-testing for type two diabetes.

As some 55, 000 people have been misdiagnosed with the condition, as a result of wrongly-calibrated equipment.

I don’t think I’m affected: the results from the blood sugar monitor I have, tell me that.

Along side the lack of ill effects from the medications I’m on.

But?

I did have an oddly low reading from the quarterly tests, a few months back.

And have always wondered about that …

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 5-9-2024 — The Winner Takes It All.

5th September, 2024: The Winner Takes It All.

Right … it’s officially Thursday: and … ?

I have to pick up some medications.

Great.

I have to head for the chemist: in weather that’s best described as ‘damp’!

Heigh-ho!

~≈💊≈~

Fourteen.

Fourteen.

Fourteen.

That’s not that much older than my nephew.

So the fact a fourteen-year-old has been charged with murdering an eighty-year-old dog walker in a park in Leicestershire is shocking!

As is a school shooting in the US state of Georgia, yesterday.

Committed by — you guessed it — a fourteen* years old.

Quite what’s happening in the world, when fourteen year olds are murdering people?

I don’t know!

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 5th September 2023.

5th September, 2023.

Right … it’s officially Tuesday.

And?

I’ve got Krazy Ken on, in the background: talking about dodgy TV deals.

It beats listening to the radio!

~≈¥≈~

Yes: it’s STILL Tuesday!

Which means … ?

My nephew, Jude, will be over.

There’s a good chance video will be made: and chicken bought.

If I can persuade him onto the bus!

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 5th September, 2022

5th September, 2022.

Yep: it’s now, officially a new week.

It’s Monday, after all.   What were we expecting?

At any rate, it also means I’ll be hosting my nephew, this afternoon.

Videos will no doubt be posted.

Hopefully?

He’ll have a good afternoon: he starts senior school, on Wednesday, and is a little nervous.

~≈👨🏼‍🏫≈~

It’s also Monday: the day when the Conservatives announce who their new leader is.

Whoever it is … ?   Will become the new Prime Minister.

There is, inevitable, a lot of talk about the newcomers plans.

The favourite, Liz Truss?

Has gone on the record to say she ‘doesn’t believe in handouts.’

She might need to modify that view.

There’s going to be a lot of people who need one.

~≈💷≈~

I might have to spend time, tomorrow night: listening to a radio show.

As File on 4 is doing an interesting sounding piece on the UK’s judicial system.

Or, at least, the judicial system’s IT system.

It seems it’s been misbehaving: handing out too long a sentence in some cases, reducing some in others.

It sounds like the Post Office scandal, all over again.

With a twist.

It could see some violent offenders released early.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 5th September, 2021

5th September, 2021.

Right … it’s officially official …

I’m still going off parsnips … but owe a big ‘thank you,’ to every one who’s made suggestions.

Debbi, Trevor, Olga?   Thanking you … !

At ANY rate … ?

I’ve got one last bowl left: that I might just have to de-parsnip.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 5th September, 2020

5th September, 2020.

Right … I suffer with depression: as you may or may not know.

And have to admit, I’m feeling a touch better, today.

Confession?   Is possibly good for the soul.

Either way … ?

I have to admit to watching TV, last night: the most recent episode of The Mandalorian: called The Reckoning.

You have to love an episode with a cliffhanger.

~≈¥≈~

Do you follow the news, at all?

I do: and I’m very aware the the protest movement, Extinction Rebellion, is hitting headlines.

Again.

Just as a word of warning.   I like ER’s aims … but I’m very aware some of their tactics stink.

Late last year, one protestor tried to make a point: preventing a train leaving Canning Town station, and getting a kicking, as a result.

I normally don’t advocate violence.

But, frankly?   I’ve been a commuter.

If you’re some silly bloody idiot stopping me get to work — or, just as importantly, get home — you deserve that kicking.

Like I say, I’m sympathetic to their aims, just not necessarily their methods.

They seem to have improved, somewhat.

Today the BBC News tells us that ER protestors are blockading various News UK sites.

That I can approve of, to an extent.

But … ?

I imagine News UK will be getting its product out, via their websites.

Quite what ER are planning, there, I don’t know.

The various papers’ sites are still up.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 5-9-2019: On The Blower

5th September, 2019.

Yes … Deep thought …

I’ve got an interview pencilled in, for tomorrow.

One I’ve got to think about …

As it’s for a bookmakers I had an interview for, a couple of months ago.

Indeed, it’s with the same shop manager.

I was unsuccessful, last time.

In point of fact, the manager told me that — one way or the other — I’d be contacted on the following Monday.

I didn’t hear a thing, so assumed I was unsuccessful.

Given the branch is quite some distance away?

I’m sorely tempted to email them, and cancel: I’m convinced I’ll get the same response …

~≈§≈~

Except, of course?

My email’s are down.

As are quite a lot of BT customers.

I — and quite a few other people — are rather annoyed about that …

~≈§≈~

In the midst of all that … ?

I’ve got Radio Four’s Today programme on in the background.

In a news item, today, it seems a team at Oxford have found DNA links to left-handedness.

Something to do with cell structure: that apparently means we left-handers have brain-structures the mean we’re better with verbal skills.

Or, and — according to the version in the last Radio Four bulletin — slightly more likely to develop schizophrenia.

Not something I have a problem with, but I’ve seen that mentioned before.

Frankly?

It’s an interesting piece to see.

~≈§≈~

Oh, and JUST a quick final thought?

I had the news channel on, yesterday: watching the riot in the House of Commons.

This caught my attention …

That was one hell of a thing to see …

American Horror Story — Series 7: Cult — Episode 1 and 2: Election Night and Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark.

5th September, 2018.

Yes … we have some good news.

At least … good news if you — like me — are a fan of either Dr Who, or American Horror Story.

The BBC have announced the airdate for series eleven of Dr Who: Sunday, 7th October, this year.

Interesting choice of nights, I think: a choice made, I think, to avoid a collision with Strictly Come Dancing.

We’ll have to see how that goes!

~≈§≈~

The other good news?

Is that the airdate for American Horror Story’s eighth series — Apocalypse — will be on 12th September, this year: at least in the US.

That’s a couple of things to look forward to.

~≈§≈~

Given that … ?

Given that there’s  new series of American Horror Story on the soon to hit town horizon … ?

Given I have a night off, and that I’ve not seen American Horror Story’s seventh series, Cult, as yet?

I though I’d better get started …

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 5th September, 2018

5th September, 2018.

Yep: it’s officially sad.

Jacqueline Pearce, the woman who played Servalan in Blake’s 7, has died of lung cancer at the age of seventy-four.

She’ll be missed: by both family, and co-workers — she’d been a regular in the various Big Finish audio productions — and by fans.

She made intergalactic space villainy look good.

And oh so riveting watchable.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 5-9-2016

I’ve come to a decision.

To give my formal — back-dated — notice in at work.

Saturday night?   Saw me arguing with one of the managers about the state of the toilets.

Something I’d cleaned at the end of the night: and immediately offered to do again.

I should add at this point?   The manager concerned is good at his job.   But one I’d ALWAYS got on badly with: and felt wasn’t impressed by me.

To the point where, today?   Once I’ve been into the job centre to register, I’ll be talking to them, and the Citizen’s Advise Bureau about Constructive Dismissal.

I never wanted this.

I prefer working to not working.

I like having money in regular weekly amounts.

I like being able to pay my bills, myself: rather than rely on the state.

So, as you can imagine, this isn’t — or wasn’t — the easiest decision to make.

I just hope things go well for me.

Things are going to get … hairy …
