Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 19-12-2025 — Here We Goa, Again

19th December, 2025: Goa.

OK: you’ve possibly realised this … but I, like many of us, get infected by the occasional earworm.

This morning … ?

It’s Joy Sarney’s only hit, 1977’s “Naughty, Naught, Naughty”.

Why on Earth I’ve woken up with the blessed thing banging around my head … ?

I really don’t know.

Answers on a postcard, please … !

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 19-12-2024 — A Bit of a Goa …

19th December, 2024: Goa.

Right … I’m at my computers …

And … ?

The boiler is quite ably humming, as it heats the room.

And the front room … ?

Warming up.

Yummy!

~≈🥵≈~

Just as a quick thought … ?

You’re possibly very aware Apple’s updated a lot of software and features: which includes a lot of improvements to Siri, the voice assistant on both the Mac, and iPhone.

The array of British voices are an improvement: I’m using one with a generic northern English accent, so you know.

The voices are an improvement.

The Dad jokes … aren’t!

Nik Nak's Daily Teaser — 19th December 2023

19th December, 2023.

Right ... it's officially Tuesday.

That means I've got my nephew over, later.

Hopefully?

We'll be able to get something done.

Which won't be easy: given my iMac's in for repair!

We'll have to see.

~≈⸸≈~

In other news?

In a piece for the BBC, former TV presenter, Esther Rantzen, has announced she has stage 4 lung cancer.

And has announced she's become a member of Dignitas: the Swiss clinic that operates an Assisted Dying facility in Zurich.

I've always felt conflicted about the idea.

I can't see myself -- as I am, today -- wanting or needing it.

But?   But always felt Terry Pratchett's arguments in favour, persuaded me that legalising it would be a good thing.

It's there: if you need it.

So?   Esther announcing this?

I think that can only be a good thing.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 19-12-2022 — Sink The Titanic.

19th November, 2022: Sink The Titanic.

Yes: it’s true.

It’s raining!

A lot more lightly than it was, this morning: but none the less, raining.

And … ?   We have predicted temperatures of some 13º.

Frankly?

That’s a lot better than the snow covered cold snap we’ve had for the past week.

And?

Will make walking to the Town Hall — for my fortnightly meeting at the Job Centre — a lot easier!

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 19th December, 2021.

19th December, 2021.

Right …

Presents have been officially wrapped.

Which is possibly a cue for a song.

Possibly, I should add!

Bar wrapping someone’s birthday present?

It’s a chore done for another year.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 19-12-2020: Édith

19th December, 2020.

It’s official: I’m having a BAD morning.

It looks like either I’ve left my freezer open, over night … or it’s popped open, over night.

Either way, the contents of my freezer have defrosted.

This far from payday … ?

I’ve not exactly got food!

~≈¥≈~

So frankly?

I’m sat here, in a mood that Orwell — or, at least a fluent speaker of Newspeak — would potentially describe as doubleplusannoyed.

What has helped?   Is the laptop saga!

Frankly, I’ve decided to hand the thing back in, and cancel the course for now.

I spent a lot of yesterday morning … ?

Trying to get the thing to work, with help from my landlord’ IT guy, so that I could do the opening test.

It turns out the course could happily be done with the online free version of MS Office: but the test I needed to do first, needed the desktop version of Office 2013 or 2016.

The laptop had Office 2010, which wouldn’t work with it.

And an unregistered version of 2016 that would … once it was registered!

To top that lot?

I’d signed up for a free Outlook email account: so I could access the web version of Office.

But, when I tried using it, yesterday?

I found I’d been locked out for violating the terms of service*.

How?

I don’t know!

I think I reached my limit, there!

And emailed both my tutor and my landlords: to cancel the course, and hand the laptop back.

My intention, right now?

Is to reapply for course, later in the year.

By then?

The COVID-19 situation will have died down, and I could do the course at the local adult education: the people running it.

Even if I DID still have to do it at home … ?

I’d know what I’d need to ask for, from my landlords.

I’d avoid a lot of palaver!

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 19-12-2019: Desmond Llewelyn

19th December, 2019.

Yes: at last!

I’ve managed to get hold of some Sellotape!

AND managed to wrap up the few presents I’ve been able to afford this year.

It’s — effectively — done and dusted.

Now all I have to do?

Is make sure my nephew does find them, when he comes over, this afternoon.

Thankfully?

There’s tucked away where he can’t find them …

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 19th December, 2018.

19th December, 2018.

Right … I’ve now officially written out my Christmas cards.

And, it has to be said: not that many of them.

I can’t afford lots: but can at least send out some.

Which is better than nothing …

~≈§≈~

Oh, just as a point?

You’ve possibly noticed I’ve been banging on about using green screen for the Teaser videos.

You film in front of a green or blue screen: and, in post-production, remove the green bits and replace them with something else.

My usual video editing app, iMovie?

I’d love to have that screen, I’d love to see what I can do with it, and iMovie.

One thing I have found, though?   Whilst putting together some Teaser videos, last night.

The slides I use to tell you what number question you’ve got to … ?

If I use a single colour background on the slide?   I can remove: to at least make an entertaining overlay.

If you can let me know what you think … ?

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 19th December, 2017

Can I make a confession?

Right now, I’ve got last night’s episode I’m Sorry, I Haven’t a Clue on.

And?

And it’s sounding as funny as it ever possibly could be: with a game of Uxbridge English Dictionary on a par with some of the best.

Personally … ?

I don’t think it’s likely, but I’m hoping a for a game of Mornington Crescent.

Here’s hoping.

~≈§≈~

Do you watch the news, at all?

I keep an eye on it: and notice that HMP Liverpool is in trouble, as according to a leaked report, it’s in a condition best described as ‘atrocious.’

Compounded by the gaol’s problems with its healthcare unit.

Frankly?

I think that’s disgusting.

We sentence people to time in gaol.

We should make sure the conditions prisoners are are good: that includes the healthcare provision, inside.

We need to do this?   Because it’s a prison.

Look, we send people to gaol as a punishment.

To me, that means those prisoners walk out alive at the end of their sentence, having done their time.   Falling physically ill as a result of unhealthy conditions or bad healthcare is an extra sentence that has not been handed out by a court.   Falling mentally ill — and potentially being a suicide — as a result of that gaol time, means that prisoner doesn’t complete their sentence is on a par.

Either way?

The state of HMP Liverpool does not serve justice.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 19-12-2016

What the hell … ?

Do you get earworms?

A song that will start playing it’s way through you head?   Sometimes, with no apparently reason?

This morning?

I’ve woken up to find Mr Big’s To Be With You floating around my head.

Why?

Well, I don’t know!

I just live in my head: I’m blowed if I know how it works!
