It’s got to be said: I’ve got the Today programme on, in the background.

And?

They’ve had an especially snotty interview with a police representative.

Lot’s of cross-purpose talking, denials, accusations.

What have you.

I keep hoping the interviewee is going to get especially snotty at the interviewer.

In those circumstances?   I always think of this scene from Good Omens: where a spokesperson for a nuclear power plant gets seriously snotty with a BBC journalist.

And?

I think Sir Terry outlined that scene … after encountering a really aggressive BBC journalist, when he was the press spokesmen for the Central Electricity Generating Board, a spokesman for at least three nuclear power plants.

He was on record as saying he’d like to write about his time working for them … if he thought anyone would believe it … 

I suspect he was sorely tempted, sometimes: or, at least, tempted enough to write that one passage …

Right … it’s official Tuesday!

Which possibly means a lot of things: chief amongst them … ?

The amount of iPhone 16* analysis, after the Apple event, yesterday: including from Radio 4’s Today programme.

Personally?

I’m just disappointed the company didn’t announce a new Mac mini: I’d be interested in hearing how true some of the gossip is!

The day after I’ve received a letter from the Department of Work and Pensions: telling me that I’m not going to be receiving Personal Independence Payment, that the Mandatory Reconsideration has not gone my way.

And the day before I can phone them — or use the website — to start the appeal process.

I’m … 

Well … 

Not exactly happy!

Right … 

I think we can say things are starting to quieten down.

Or, at least, the news channels are moving more from the Queen’s death: and more to the King’s ascension to the throne.

And occasional bits of news from else where.

I’m not especially a royalist: nor a republican.

But Charles taking office is the more interesting part: as it’s not something I’ve seen happen.

I think many of us haven’t seen happen.

It’s possibly going to be interesting.

And quite probably going to be on the iPlayer for months.

Either way?

The BBC’s coverage is getting … mildly excessive.

There’s other stuff happening in the world: and I’d appreciate hearing about it.

About the only thing I can say I’ve learnt?

Is that Parliament will reconvene on the 21st September.

I look forward to it.

The sooner life can go on — and the government start helping people — the better.

I’ve finally got  date for a diabetic eye test, this afternoon: up in Warley.

And have to pick up a Fit note from my surgery, this morning.

AND order some a repeat prescription along the way.

Right, it’a officially the case: I have an official eye check-up, today*.

I’m diabetes, if you didn’t know: which means I have to have my eyes checked on a regular basis.

Diabetes can turn you blind, if you’re not careful.

Frankly?   I’m not looking forward to it.

But, considering how important it is?

Well, needs much, an’ all that.

The first episode of Chernobyl, so you know.

Well, it looks rather good: and will do me good, until my favourites re-start.

Or El Ministerio del Tiempo’s fourth season turns up!

As for Parliament?   At least the House of Commons?

Well … ?

I know my usual position is the PMQs — Prime Minister’s Questions —is possibly the most entertaining thing on TV: especially given the Brexit situation.

It turns out that — in watching Chernobyl? — I managed to get to bed early.

The parliamentary rioting didn’t finish until about two in the morning.

To top everything else?

I have a meeting at the Job Centre on Friday: quite why, I don’t know.

The problem?

Is that the central office tell me it’s at the office around the corner from me.

Of course … the the actual office … have told me the Job centre’s moved to the Town Hall.

I think the word is Hmmm …

Which is not something to confess to, if, like me, you write blogposts themed around what day it is.

As a quick thought … ?

I noticed this piece on the BBC’s new site, the other day.

It explains how researchers have found that using renewable energy sources — specifically, solar panels and wind farms — could alter the rainfall patterns in arid dry deserts like the Sahara: making them greener areas, that potentially could be used as valuable farmland.

Personally?

I’m no scientist, but think that could be a good thing: after all, with an increasing population, anything that lets us grow more food would be useful.

My first thought, though?

Dune fan that I am, I quietly thought the area, home of the tribal people that supposedly were the inspiration for the novel’s Fremen … 

Would get dozens of them, running over a dune, yelling ‘Muad’Dib.’

It’s a Sunday morning … and one where I’m doing my usual eleven ’til five shift.

So, of course, today … ?

I’ve got up at six: and will be getting home at six.

My points?

• I’ll probably am going to need a lot of caffeine, by the time I get home.
• I’ve got to iron some shirts, later!

Yep: it’s a fun Sunday evening, ahead!

House of Cards — Series 4: Episodes 11, 12 & 13 (Chapters 50, 51 and 52)

Recently?

Recently, you’ll have realised I’m back to job-hunting.

So there’s thing’s I’m going to be economising on.

Hopefully?

I won’t have to lose net access: what with BT’s prices changing over the years.

Although I stress hopefully, there.

One thing I do know may — depending on circumstances — will suffer?

Is my viewing habits.

As you MAY realise, I’ve been able to buy and watch the odd box-set: and write about them here.

Given the job situation?   That may slow down, if not stop.   But we’ll have to see, won’t we?

Right at the moment?

I’m aware of a few things.

I’m aware I’ve got enough iTunes credit to rent a few movies, and possibly catch up with one or two box-sets.

Should I be able to balance the budget.

After all, I’ve still not seen season three of Penny Dreadful, nor of The Strain: something I’d like to do.

But?

As I got the box set, before the job situation came crashing down around my ears, the one thing I was able to do, was see the last three episodes of season four of House of Cards.

And yes … 

I THINK the series is a good investment …

Right … 

It’s a Saturday … and the Saturday after I managed to get to Romford: trying to post copies of my CV to various places.

I think I managed that.

And managed to bump into an old neighbour: who had been planning to window shop her way around Romford’s South Street area … 

And?   And also managed to cheer up an old friend, by buying him coffee and a burger.

Which certainly made my day, I know that much.

The Daily Teaser — 10-9-2015

You know, I bought a little set-top box on Amazon.

A couple of weeks ago, now.

It’s a device that lets me view Freeview content — especially high definition Freeview content — on my TV.

Yes, I KNOW my new TV already receives — and can record —digital signals.

As the box ALSO does so … ?   It gives me an extra device to record stuff with.   A back up, device.

The only problem with that … ?

Is that the thing hooks up to the TV, with an HDMI cable: an extra one of those is ALREADY here, as I ordered it at the same time.

I ALSO ordered a cheap HDMI switch.    A little gadget that let’s me plug up to three HDMI equipped devices to my TV: and something I ordered at the same time as the set top box, and the cable.

The three-way switch isn’t.

I think that’s the last time I order from a third-party Amazon seller … who’s in Hong Kong … !

That switch is really taking it’s time … !
