Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 19th September 2024.

19th September, 2024.

What happened there … ?

Yesterday, I was complaining that — using the updated version of Safari, Safari 18 — I was having trouble uploading video and photos: specifically to my Blogger-powered blog.

The one you’re reading now, in other words.

Today … ?

I had no problem.

Quite what happened, there?

Bar me, cleaning Safari’s caches?

And bar suspecting it had something to do with the update from Sonoma to Sequoia*?

I don’t know!

~≈💰≈~

In other news … ?

You and I are both aware the Middle East is a … …

Well, disaster seems the right word.

A couple of days ago?

A lot of booby-trapped pagers went off in Lebanon: ones own by members of Hezbollah.

Followed by exploding walkie-talkies, a day later.

My thoughts are with those killed and injured.

But?

My curious side has come out to play.

And is wondering:
  • How who-ever did this managed to carry out those attacks.
  • Does anyone else know how to do it?
That’s the worrying bit …

~≈💣≈~

Just as a last thought about macOS Sequoia?

The new window tiling feature that’s been introduced looks useful, already.

It’s letting me arrange the template I use to write these Teaser posts.

That’s handy: it makes dragging and dropping from one file to another, a lot easier.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 19-9-2023 — Talk Like A Pirate Day.

19th September, 2023: Talk Like A Pirate Day.

Hm …

It’s Tuesday: you’d noticed, hadn’t you … ?

So?

Well, I’ve got my nephew, this afternoon: videos may well be made.

But it’s also the day after my weight management group.

I’ve lost some weight: which is all to the good.

Especially as I’d gained, in previous weeks.

That’s something good, I think.

~≈Â≈~

I’m on Twitter.

Or X, as it now is.

And … ?

Noticed a piece in the news that tells us Elon Musk is planning to introduces a charge for those of us who have a free account.

Frankly?

I hope it doesn’t: that’s money I can ill afford.

But just so you know?

I’m on Mastodon, Facebook, YouTube and Instagram, in case you’re wondering!

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 19th August 2023.

19th August, 2023.

Right … I’ve officially had to turn on Music.app!

Why?

Because I’ve woken up with another earworm!

Jain’s “Makeba”, again!

Hopefully?

Hopefully, by putting “Forbidden Colours” on repeat!

~≈¥≈~

Just as a quick extra point?

It seems X — the site formerly known as Twitter — is going to be removing the ability to block people.

You can still mute people: and block them from sending you a message.

But?

I really don’t like the idea: I can see it causing problems.

As can this user on Mastodon:

I can only hope Elon reverses that.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 19-9-2022 — Talk Like A Pirate Day

19th September, 2022.

It’s the 19th September, 2022.

And?

And it’s Talk Like A Pirate Day.

A day that’s incredibly light hearted.

At least, it’s meant to be.

As ever, I’ve got the radio on and tuned to BBC Radio Four.

And am listening to the coverage of Elizabeth 2nd’s funeral.

The Today* show’s doing it’s usually good job, I should add.

Including present a very nice piece from Canadian Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau: who first met the Queen when he was seven, during his father’s term as PM.

At any rate … ?

This year’s Talk Like A Pirate Day is going to be a sad one.

It’s the only time I’ve had to include a message about a State Funeral to the relevant Teaser video …

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 19-9-2021: Talk Like A Pirate

19th September, 2021.

Right … It’s day whatever it is of self-isolation …

And … ?

With a little bit of help, I’ve done some online shopper … that’s not on Amazon.

Forty quid’s worth of bits and bobs, for the most part.

Including a loaf, and some milk.

Oh, and some carrots.

Somehow, my version of goulash needs carrots …

~≈🥕≈~

Oh, FINALLY … !

I saw a film on Friday.

The 2021 version of Candyman: which is quite something.

I could carry on raving about it.

But … ?

I’ll play you the soundtrack … and show you my video review …

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 19-9-2020: Talk Like a Pirate Day.

19th September, 2020.

Right …

I know that introductory video’s fairly subdued: but today is Talk Like a Pirate Day.

Just in case you didn’t know?

It’s a minor Pastafarian holiday.

Apparently?   The decline in Golden Age Pirates is responsible for global warming: therefore, talking like one will make the world cooler.

Much — I’d assume — like the Fonz.

Hey ho!

~≈¥≈~

I mentioned news, as well, didn’t I … ?

According to this piece from the BBC, a woman in a German hospital has apparently died … as a result of a ransomware attack on the hospital she was in.

She died in an ambulance on a way to another hospital: after being moved, as a result of the attack.

From what I understand, if shown that her death was a result of the attack?

It’s be a world first.

William Gibson once said “The future is already here — it’s just not very evenly distributed.”

I can only hope events like this don’t get more distribution …

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 19-9-2019: Talk Like A Pirate Day

19th September, 2019.

Yes: I know it’s Talk Like a Pirate Day …

But, sadly?

It’s also veteran Today presenter, John Humphrys, last showª.

That’s rather sad.

The man’s been scaring politicians for the past thirty-two years.

That’s a much needed function.

If nothing else?

He’s savaged former PM, David Cameron, about the referendum.

That’s a good thing, from where I’m sitting.

It’s just a shame Boris Johnson’s refused to appear on today’s show.

Say no more …

~≈ß≈~

JUST as a quick thought … ?

I’m a Dr Who fan: you knew that, didn’t you?

So the fact that one or two sites are reporting Stephen Fry* is rumoured is shooting for the next series of the show?

Is interesting …

But I’ll believe when I see him in an episode.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 18th September, 2019.

19th September, 2019.

Yep: I’m back at work, today.

And … vaguely looking forward to it.

If, for no other reason, than it gets me out of the house.

And, theoretically?   Fitter.

It’s all that walking!

~≈†≈~

Either way?

It means that I’ll not be watching TV, tonight.

Which is a mixed bag.

After all, I’ve now finished watching Chernobyl.

That’s a series I can’t help but recommend to you.

It’s …

Well …

Go watch the thing: the way the thing’s been shot is something else.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 19-9-2018: Talk Like A Pirate Day

19th September, 2018: ye lubbers!

Yeah, blow doing that for a long time!

He says, eyeballing the Teaser video … …

At any rate?

It’s Talk Like A Pirate Day.

So if you haven’t recorded a silly video and posted it somewhere … ?

Complete with a certain amount of corpsing?

I’ll be disappointed …

~≈§≈~

If you’re in the UK, you’ll possibly know that the British Board of Film Classification is the body that gives films a certificate: one that will permit it to play in cinemas across the country.

Something that can be changed by local councils.

And something that’s been done by a few councils: for a film called A Northern Soul.   Most of the councils concerned have given it a milder classification than the BBFC.

All well and good.

I’ll be frank, though.

It’s the first time I’ve heard of it happening in a while.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 19th September, 2017: Talk Like A Pirate Day.

Avast, ye lubbers.

Ahoy … !   Yo-ho-ho!

Yes, that’s quite enough of that, for the minute!

I’m actually now — metaphorically — back at work.

Or, at least, back at work, today.

Which is nice.

But has me thinking I should, you know …

Have booked off more days off!

It would’ve meant more chance to see Coven.

Ho … Hum … !

Penny Dreadful — Series 3 - Episodes 4 & 5: A Blade of Grass & This World Is Our Hell.

19th September, 2016.

Hmmm …

That’s …

Well, that’s an ambiguous thing to have happened.

I‘ve had a call, tonight, from my local branch of Nandos: I had an interview, there, last Thursday.

They’re not going to be hiring me.

Apparently?   They’ve someone they felt was more suitable.

Not want I want to hear, maybe: but at least I can go to tomorrow’s hiring event?

With a certain amount of clarity.

~≈fi≈~

At any rate?

At any rate, I’ve done a certain amount of reading tonight: about the company that’s holding The event, tomorrow.

Frankly?

They sound good to work for.   I can only hope I make it through the various bits and bobs they’ve set up, and bag the job.

My other bit of preparation … ?

Well …

Two more episodes of Penny Dreadful, of course …

~≈fi≈~

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 19-9-2016: Talk Like A Pirate Day … !

Ahoy!   Arrrrrr … !   Jim Lad!   Splice The Main Brace!

Right … that’s the obligatory bit, done …

Obviously, you’ll be able to guess what the theme of today’s Teaser.

I mean …

The poster’s a clue …

~≈Ê≈~

But, at any rate … ?

At any rate, I’ve got the first batch of interviews done with.

Depressingly?

I’ve got no-where with them.

After the interview I’ve got, tomorrow?

And my meeting at the Job-Centre, today?

And, having handed out my CV to as many people in Brentwood, Romford and Shenfield as possible?

I’ve got the hard drag of online hunting.

Mostly looking at various job-sites, to see what I can find.

Most of them … ?   Are easy enough to use.

About my one problem?

I put in an online application to Sainsburys, the other day: for a checkout operator.

Which, with my employment history, I’d be good at.

Apparently?   I didn’t get the score needed, in the online test.

That’s annoying.

And leaves me wondering if there’s a site that can walk you through these things.
