You’re also very aware that I’m off to my weight management meeting.

And desperately hoping I’ve lost some.

Weight, that is!

As an extra thought … ?

I’ve got the Today programme on: who’ve reported that Eli Lilly — the makers of the injectable weight loss drug, Mounjaro — has designed a weight loss pill.

And hoping it will be introduced into the UK, in 2026.

Whether it’s going to be helpful to someone like me — I’ve been using Mounjaro for some time — is a whole other matter.

But … ?

I get the impression from the Today programme that this pill would be aimed at those of us looking to lose weight, looking to supplement lifestyle changes.

Those of us who want to lose weight: not just those of us who need to lose weight.

We’ll have to see, won’t we?

Right then … it’s officially Sunday.

And we had a thunderstorm over night.

I wish I’d tried to record that: it would’ve been a spectacular thing to show you.

But … ?

Well, I was in bed at the time!

I caught a TV show, on Friday.

Or, at least, caught the first episode of the recently released The Celestial Toymaker.

It’s a lot better than I thought it would be: although — as I say in my review — I’m not totally impressed with the design work.

We’ll have to see how the next few episodes pan out.

And another day that’s going to be quite, I think.

Bar heading into town to get my meds.

Which reminds me: I need to do something about that sharps bin!

I’m waiting to hear back from the Department of Work and Pensions: about whether I’m eligible for Personal Independence Payment.

The decision on my appeal, my Mandatory Reconsideration … ?

Is due by the 26th of this month.

OK … I can wait.

But … ?

The wait, the not knowing … ?

Is very frustrating … !

I notice YouTube’s taken steps.

To combat online disinformation, that is.

Seemingly?

They’ve introduced a scheme in the UK: to verify that healthcare professional in the UK, are genuine professionals.

I can’t help but think that’s a good thing.

Queen Elizabeth 2nd (II) — The Queen is Dead.

8th September, 2022.

I have to confess: I feel … emotional.

I don’t know if I should say distressed.   Or sad, depressed, what have you.

‘Emotional,’ seems to be the best choice of words.

I’m writing this as the BBC News channel tells us that Elizabeth II — the woman who’s been my country’s head of state since well before my birth — died, this afternoon.

My thoughts — as those of most of the country — will be with her family.

I can only imagine what they are feeling.

Personally?   I feel at something of a loss.

The woman was a rock: a sign that the country was here, and stable, because she was alive and well.

And, to quote Terry Pratchett?

She did the job that was in front of her.

For over seventy years.

That job?

Is now her son’s: who, the Prime Minister tells us, will use the name Charles 3rd.

There are changes ahead.

The Queen is dead.

Long live the King.

Did I ever mention I’m diabetic?   And trying to lose weight?

I’m diabetic — type two*, so you know — and trying to lose weight.

And … ?

I’m on a plethora of medication for it.

Including an experimental one called semaglutide, one that’s marketed under the brand name, Ozempic.

Well, I say ‘experimental’: it’s works well at lowering blood sugar† levels, and has officially UK approval for that purpose.

Something I know applies in my case.

Ideally, it should be 42 or less.

When first diagnosed, mine was over 100!

My diabetic care team are trying to get mine to around 48 to 57.

At a check, before I started using Semaglutide?   It was 68.

And, at my last check?   Was 60.

Which my GP was very pleased with.

Before starting the drug?   It wasn’t moving much.

The reason I signed up for the drug, though?

Is that — reportedly — Semaglutide can be used as part of a weight management scheme.

It’s supposed to help.

Apparently?   Medical authorities in the US have cleared its use for weight control: in the US.

But British medical regulators haven’t.

They are prescribing it to diabetics with weight issues on an experimental basis, though.

To see if can help a person loss weight.

Which is why I checked my weight, this morning: to see if it had gone down.

It hasn’t: it’s at the same sort of live it’s been for the past couple of weeks.

OK: it’s good my blood sugar has gone down.

But my weight hasn’t.

It’s not gone up … but it’s not gone down.

I’m … not worried, per se.

But am a little concerned.

I can’t help but notice that — according to the BBC article — Dune seems to have proved popular with critics.

That could mean it’ll do well.

Whose new programmes have told me a few things.

What with Amber Rudd — the Work and Pensions Secretary — resigning both from her ministerial post, and as from the Conservative party.

And is considering her position as an MP, come the General Election.

I’m thinking the Johnson Administration is having a day that … 

Well, not exactly quiet.

An election that’s seeing at least one Labour MP — Paul Farrelly — announce he’ll be standing down as an MP.

The day’s also seen former Labour MP, Angela Smith, join the Liberal Democrats*.

Quiet possibly isn’t the word …
