Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 15th June, 2018

15th June, 2018.

Yep: I’ve actually not just got tomorrow off: but Sunday, too.

It means … ?   I’ve got the weekend off!

The first one I’ve taken voluntarily …

For some time.

Frankly?

I’m looking forward to it!

~≈§≈~

While I’m here … ?

I’m on Universal Credit: a government benefit that’s claimed by many, and designed to replace many others.

I get it?   To help with my rent.

I’ve ALSO felt it’s badly handled.

The benefits it replaces?   Were paid fortnightly.   Universal Credit?   Monthly.

When I was fully unemployed?   Monthly pay is something I know I struggled with: especially after a lifetime of weekly and fortnightly pay.

Granted, right now?   I’m doing ok, so far.

But when I went onto it?

It took quite some time to get payment.

Today?

The National Audit Office has ALSO criticised the thing.

Arguing that it’s more expensive than the benefits it’s replacing.

And … ?

That late payment’s an issue for many people.

Personally?

I’m glad someone agrees with me!

The Daily Teaser — 15-6-2015

Well, that’s something to be thankful for.

Friends who don’t mind loaning you their Dr Who collection.

I’m grateful to them, I know that.

The reason I’ve done that … ?

Is simply the fact that I managed to wreak an external drive I’d owned.

Losing everything on it in the process!

I’ve left it with a local computer repair shop: who, hopefully, will recover any photos.   But getting the huge chunk of TV series?

There’s a LOT of them!

The TV series?   Well, I’m blowed if I know what will happen: so I’m borrowing copies of Dr Who, and frantically using Handbrake to rip them.

I’m thankful for two things.

The speed my current computer can use Handbrake.

And the generosity of friends.

Chemical Wedding: Sex, Drugs and Hmmm …

You know, it’s not often I use some of the features to add extra … umm … features to Nik Nak’s Old Peculiar.

But tonight, I have …

I’ve added a quickie page about the occasional Movie nights I host.

It’s at the top of the page, along with the other pages.

Let me know what you think …

»»•««

But at any rate, I think I should mention the film that the complete Movie Night Gang* saw last night.

The 2008, Julian Doyle directed film, Chemical Wedding.

Which is definitely a bit …

Strange …

The film sees noted — or possibly notorious — occultist, Aleister Crowley revived after a virtual reality computer is reprogrammed by one of his followers.

Hmm …

Now, I’ve got to confess, I don’t think Chemical Wedding really grabbed us.

Kevin D was distinctly unimpressed, Adrian was impressed by the historical accuracy — although I’m not sure by the film, per sé — Squeaky was definitely ticked off …

And Tootles was bored enough to clean my oven, for which I owe her a BIG vote of thanks!

So you can probably tell what I’m going to tell you, can’t you … ?

Chemical Wedding … ?

ForGET it … !
