Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 26th March 2026.

26th March, 2026.

Right: I’ve managed to get up, early, today.

I have a phone appointment with my Job Centre case worker, at 9·40, today.

I could sit here, in my dressing gown, talking to someone who can’t see me.

Or, I can at least get dressed.

If nothing else, I’d be looking decent: even if I’m the only one who knows it.

~≈👕≈~

Hmmm …

I’ve recently started watching the first series of Starfleet Academy, the latest entry in the franchise.

I grant I’m not reviewing it: but am enjoying it.

Even if I’m not telling you that, on an episode by episode basis.

Sadly?

Yesterday saw the news break, that Paramount have cancelled the show: despite filming being completed on a second series.

That’s sad to hear: I was enjoying that.

~≈🖖≈~

I had a strange call, on Friday, just gone.

I’d made a welfare check call on a neighbour, a while back: as they’d been behaving in a way that caused me some concern.

To the police, in case you were wondering.

Let’s call the neighbour Kylie.

I was concerned Kylie was being cuckooed.

It was only last Friday, that I had a separate call about about Kylie: from someone phoning on a Brentwood landline — 01277 381687 — claiming to be called ‘Richard’, and claiming to be from a small, hush-hush, police team, that specialised in ‘collecting information from knowledgable people’: wanting to know if I could tell them more about Kylie.

Which I couldn’t.

They also told me I should put in another welfare check about this person, and another — let’s call them Fiona — who was a shared contact.

Very specifically on 101, the police non-emergency line.

Which I tried.

101 told me to phone 111: the NHS non-emergency line.

Who were happy to take Fiona’s details: even though they later told me they couldn’t do anything to help.

At any rate, I tried phoning the Brentwood number, the 01277 381687 number, again, to let them know what I’d been told.

Only to get a ‘Number Not Recognised’ message.

Fair enough: they didn’t want me speaking to them.

But … ?

Getting a ‘Number Not Recognised’ message, about a number that had been working a few hours before, seemed very strange.

But also means I should be careful around Kylie.

There’s obviously a lot more going on than I know about.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 26-3-2025 — The Book of Mormon.

26th March, 2025: The Book of Mormon.

It’s officially Wednesday.

And … ?

The introduction video makes me look a little green.

That filter doesn’t work the way I was expecting it, to.

I was expecting the storm background to show up!

~≈❇️≈~

If you’re out of a job, you’re claiming benefits: especially if you’ve got associated health issues.

I am: if you hadn’t guessed.

So … ?

Anything that affects out minimal income is worrying.

The UK’s current Chancellor, Rachel Reeves, is due to make her Spring Statement, today.

And is expected to make further cuts to the welfare bill.

Personally … ?

That’s worrying.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 26-3-2024 — Testing Times.

26th March, 2024: Testing Times.

It’s officially official: I’m up, early.

I’ve a meeting at my local Job Centre: the first in roughly a year.

The only thing that worries me … ?

Is my ‘new’ work coach has the same — ish! — name as a well known Eric Idle character.

Now … does anyone want a snack … ?

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 26th March 2023.

26th March, 2023.

Yes: I think I can say I’m worried.

Officially or otherwise.

Remember me saying the I’d lost a USB stick?   One with quite a bit of personal data on it?

I went into town to do a little shopping: and check the places I’d been the day before, to see if I’d left or dropped the stick, there.

I hadn’t: neither Sainsbury’s, nor the library had seen hide nor hair of it.

I’m … concerned.

The stick, itself, is easy enough to replace.

The personal data on it?

The data that’s all sorts of valuable to an identity thief?

Not so easy to guard.

Frankly?

I can only hope it’s found and handed in.

Or got dropped down a drain, and rained on.

That way, the data’s safe.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 26th March, 2022

26th March, 2022.

It’s officially Saturday: a day when I’m not expecting any incoming phone calls.

Which is possibly a good thing.

It’s also a day when I’ve got to go to town at least one more time: to pick up some medication.

The one upside to all this?

Is that it’s nice and sunny: I’d get some air to my skin.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 26th March, 2021.

26th March, 2021.

What with one thing and another … ?

Yesterday turned out to be a little busier than I thought.

I’m on a Weight Management programme: and completely forgot that I had my phone meeting!

OK: we did little more than talk about portion control, exercises and how Sainsbury’s Nectar points scheme doesn’t hand out anything for brown rice and wholemeal pasta.

Which means … ?

Today, I’m having a less exciting day.

Well …

Unless an Amazon scammer phones me …

~≈Ü≈~

Talking of which?

With the very little spending money I have?

Along side the vouchers I get for taking part in the Office of National Statistics Covid-19 programme meant I could buy a Doctor Who blu-ray: Jon Pertwee’s second series, so you know.

It got delivered, yesterday

It’s currently being ripped, if you’re interested.

What annoyed me, though?

Was that the delivery man didn’t ring my doorbell: just left the package on my doorstep.

I was in: and the TV, quite audibly, on.   You can hear it in the hallway outside my flat*.

So?   I complained.

I can understand the driver leaving the package there, if he go no response to the bell: I can appreciate that.

But not ringing?

When I’m obviously in?

That’s a bit much.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 26-3-2020: Bangladesh

26th March, 2020.

Ha … !

I think I need a haircut.

No, scrub that: I know I do.

I got paid on Monday morning: and frankly, could’ve got one then.

It did occur to me … but I put it off.

Monday night … ?

The lockdown commenced … and lock hairdressers shut …

Hey …

Ho … !

~≈†≈~

According to Radio 4’s Today programme?

The UK’s probation service is drastically altering the way it works: and not seeing many different types of criminal, face to face.

I can appreciate that.

But some of the one’s they’re not seeing?

Are domestic abusers … and registered sex offenders.

I can appreciate why it’s being done: similar circumstances apply to the Job Centres.

But?

Well … I can’t help but think that’ll kick us in the teeth, one day.

~≈†≈~

As a last thought … ?   There’s a message …

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 26-3-2019: Leonard Nimoy

26th March, 2019.

It had to be said …

I never know where those intro videos are going to go.

But do know a couple of things.

It’s a hill in New Zealand, so you know.

Oh …

And blatantly nicked from Quantum Jump’s Lone Ranger.

Heigh Ho …

~≈§≈~

In other news … ?

In other news, Apple have announced their AppleTV+ service …

And run over the top of the rest of the stuff I can run on my AppleTV: I’ll find out in Autumn, along side everyone else.

Bar the fact Netflix isn’t taking part in the service?

It looks interesting.

They’ve ALSO announced something else.

An Apple branded credit card.

Quite what’s happening, there, I don’t know.

But I suspect that could be the ground breaker …

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 26-3-2017

Oh, gods but that was a rough day!

Yesterday, that is … !

You know how you get a bad morning?

I started with one.   I think I managed to forget to take a fiver with me: my change, in other words!

I’ll have to ask about that: god knows where that’s gone, if I have left it there!

It only went downhill, from there!

With one snotty customer after another, phoning into work.

Seriously snotty: I don’t often lose my temper at a customer, that often.

What can I tell you?

Apart from making sure my apology went on the record: in case The customer called in to complain.

Now … Have an earworm …

The Daily Teaser — 26-3-2016

You know, I had a letter from my landlords, the other day.

Mostly … ?   Mostly reminding people that the street’s looking a bit … messy.

One aspect that caught me?

Was getting warned about the amounts of dog poo, on the street: and reminded we can be fined for letting our dogs — if we have one — foul the streets.

Fair dos: if you’ll excuse the phrase!

I have to admit, though, I quickly emailed my landlady.

Mostly, because I felt that having a few more dog mess bins on street would be help.

The thing is … ?

That video shows the corner of my street, as you walk towards my building.

I could’ve sworn there was a dog mess bin, there!

Oy … veh …
