Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 6th November 2025.

6th November, 2025.

Right, then … !

It’s officially Thursday … !

And … ?

Amazon get worse!

They’ve officially refunded the delivery charge on a package that was due on Satuday … but that turned up on Sunday.

But … ?

They’ve told me, this morning, that a final package, one due, today … is now due on the 15th.

Nine days after its due date.

Why?

I have no idea … !

~≈¥≈~

I have to admit: I’m on an NHS waiting list: for testing for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, for ADHD.

Apparently?

I’m due for an appointment in November of 2026.

So?

Something that caught my attention were news reports: that tell us many specialist ADHD services are closing their waiting lists.

Or, at least, tightening the criteria to be added to them.

Quite how that will affect me?

I don’t know.

But?

I’m understandably concerned.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 6th November 2024.

9th November, 2024.

Hmmm …

I keep an eye on politics: mostly on UK politics, as that’s where I live, but also on international politics.

So … ?

I’m very aware — as I write — that Donald Trump is winning this year’s US presidential election.

I can only think that’s going to be bad: as Trump is no friend of the UK*.

On a personal front … ?

My new washing machine has been installed.

Granted, it’s cost what — for me — is a small fortune.

And the old model damaged because of my stupidity.

But … ?

It’s nice to have it in place: and be able to clean my undies!

~≈🧺≈~

Did I mention I tried selling on an old computer of my sister’s?

But didn’t?

In all honesty, the thing seemed to be stuck in a permanent boot-loop: one I couldn’t clear.

However … ?

I did manage to break the thing up: and salvage the machine’s RAM and SSD.

The latter’s been put into an enclosure, and securely wiped.

And can be re-purposed.

Here’s hoping it can be put to good use†.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 6th November 2023.

6th November, 2023.

Right now?

It’s comparatively early on a Monday morning: and Madison Avenue’s “Don’t Call Me Baby” is on, in the background.

Because you have to be playing something, right?

At any rate!

I’m up early, today.

Not because I’ve got my weight management meeting: but because I have a hospital appointment.

Nothing drastically serious.

But these things always seem to be awkwardly timed!

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 6th November 2022.

6th November, 2022.

Right …

It’s very easy to forget flats.

Really!

I’ve got at least two blocks of flats over the road from mine.

Which I keep ignoring, as they’re part of the landscape.

But — and I forget this, every year — it means I don’t get much of a free light show, when it’s fireworks night!

The flats are usually in the way!

I’m on Twitter: in case you didn’t know.

The site’s having some of a shake up, over the past few days: as a result of being bought by Elon Musk.

The site’s seen swinging job cuts: which is sad to hear about, and angered many.

Musk has ALSO announced that — under his leadership — Twitter will starting to charge for the blue ‘Verified’ tick.

Personally?   I’ve always thought it would be handy to have: but the process has always been too fiddly to go through.

That’s changed: as the company will now be charging for a blue tick.

Personally?

I think that’s going to cause a lot of complaints.

People have been getting The service for free, up until now …

~≈®≈~

Just as a final thought … ?

And if you’re following them?

I’ve released my most recent Star Trek review: feel free to have a watch …

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 6th November, 2021.

6th November, 2021.

Hmmmm …

On Monday … ?   I had an interview: for a local job.

And was told that — if I’d got the job … ? — I’d be told, by email, yesterday.

I didn’t hear.

I’m therefore assuming the worst: that I haven’t got the job.

I’m …

I’ll be honest, yes, I’m hurt: it was a very local job.

But life, and jobhunting, does one.

Upwards and onwards, and all that.

~≈Ç≈~

You possibly aware the the COP 26 climate conference is happening right now.

It’s … well, it’s possibly something we can all agree to be cynical on.

Especially when you consider forty countries have pledged to stop using coal.

Just not the biggest consumers!

In the middle of all this … ?

Is Greta Thunberg: doing her thing.

I have to give her credit for persistence.

But I’m wondering.

Yes: she’s raising the issue.

But, given I’ve heard of Hitler, Stalin, Cults of PersonalityMuad’Dib, and rockstar politicians?

I’m wondering if we’re seeing a Messiah in the making?

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 6th November, 2020.

6th November, 2020.

Yes: I have earworms!   Again.

Or, at least, an earworm!

Usually, I can put at a reason why I’ve got a song playing through my head.

A phrase would’ve reminded me of it.   Something went past on the news.   What have you.

This morning?

I’ve woken up with SPK’s Metal Dance banging — literally — though my head.   Specifically, the live version the band did on The Tube, many years ago.

It was an authentically odd performance, with sheets of metal, flamethrowers and angle grinders, by an authentically odd band, one straight off the set of Mad Max … on what had to be the UK’s edgiest music show.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 6th November, 2019

6th November, 2019.

Yep: phone lines are a problem.

Seriously.

I’ve got an ongoing issue with my boiler: you’ve possibly realised that, if you’ve been following me for a while.

I had a senior engineer out, last week: to assess whether the thing repaired or replaced.

He recommendation?   Was to phone my landlords, last Friday: he’d be recommending both, and I’d need to talk to them, to see which they’d authorise.

I phoned, Friday.

To find my landlord’s phones were down until Tuesday.

So, of course, I phoned, on Tuesday.

Yesterday.

To find they were still down … as they were having technical issues.

I’m thinking this could take a while …

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 6th November, 2018

6th November, 2018.

Wouldn’t you know it?

I got up, this morning … to the familiar, but unwelcome, sight.

The indicator lights on my router going an unhealthy shade of green, telling my I wasn’t connected to the ’Net.

OK, I managed to reset the thing.

But that’s annoying when it happens.

~≈§≈~

I’m sure you remember Grenfell Tower.

The fire that hit it, all those months ago, was a tragedy whose consequences are still being felt, today.

So, last night?

A small group of people decided, as it was Bonfire Night?

To burn an effigy of Grenfell Tower on their bonfire … and post the result to YouTube.

Personally?

If laughing Grenfell’s tragedy floats your boat, fair enough.   Don’t ask me to agree with you, I find the idea distinctly unfunny.

But to then post that to YouTube, where people — the already fragile survivors in particular — seems both offensive, potential racist, incredibly stupid …

And deliberately cruel to people who have already experienced the worst.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 6th November, 2017

Bleugh …

I am officially knackered: and thinking that today — a day off — I’m not going to be writing Teasers, doing laundry, buying milk and bread, or house keeping.

No, what I want to do is head back to bed!

We’ll see.

~≈†≈~

On other fronts?

I’m very aware there’s scandal brewing at Westminster: a lot of it quite serious, sexual scandal.

One thing that did catch my eye, though?   (And I’ll admit, it’s a minor thing, compared to some of the allegations doing the rounds.)

Damian Green, MP, has been accused of having pornography on his parliamentary computer.

Some he strenuously denies.

I have to admit to having a question.

I’ve got no particular problem using porn: nor to others doing the same, so long as it’s not child porn.   So long as we realise what’s on screen is a fantasy, we’re ok, I think.

But the question I’ve got?

I’m sure, you, like me, wouldn’t think of accessing adult material at work.

Indeed, most of us can’t.

From what I’ve seen, half of a given IT department’s job involves blocking sites an employer doesn’t want it’s employees to view.

Fair enough: we’re there to work, not — ahem — enjoy ourselves.

What I have to ask is simply this.

If Damian Green had porn on his parliamentary/works computer?

Why wasn’t it blocked by Parliament’s IT department?

Damian Green shouldn’t have been able to access from work, in the first place.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 6-11-2016

Ay … ay ay …

That better be worth it … !

I’ve recently started a new job: in a call centre in Chelmsford.

Last night … ?

I got asked if I could stay half an hour later: which I was notionally happy to do.

You know how it goes, new job, you want to look happy to co-operate …

I wish I hadn’t now.

With replacement buses operating, instead of the trains?

It meant I finally got home at ten to one: and to bed ten minutes later.

And got back up, today: to go back in for another eight hour shift.

Not that I’m complaining TOO much.   The extra half hour’s pay will buy Jude something for Christmas.

But, ye gods …

I think I’m going to put my foot down, the next time I’m asked … !
