That’s always a worry … 

I’m diabetic: which you possibly already knew.

And, as such?

I have a blood sugar testing machine: and the testing strips, and lancets, that go with it.

And the associated sharps bin.

That bin … ?

Is something I have to ask Brentwood Council to dispose of: usually, through a website.

They usually phone me to tell me when the next pickup is, and I have to leave it out, the night before.

The worry?

Comes from the fact I’m convinced the collectors won’t turn up.

Or if one of the neighbours will complain: there’s one I’m convinced will!

Or that a neighbour’s dog will get into the bin, when it’s being walked.

The collectors got here at 06:39.

The neighbour hasn’t complained.

And, as far as I can tell, no dogs sniffed around my bucket.

That’s three less things to worry about …

26th December, 2024: the Home Nations.

It’s officially official: I’m up early … !

But you’d possibly guessed.

After all, it’s Monday: the usual day for my weight management meeting, and weigh-in.

Hopefully?

Last week, I put on half a kilo: so … ?

I’m hoping to have lost something.

Right ...

I've managed to take my iMac into the repair shop.

And?

Jaw-droppingly?

It seems it's not the power supply unit that's the issue.

It's -- potentially -- a problem with the motherboard.

At the least, a short-circuited component.

At the most?   Replacing the whole thing.

I'm told that'll be some £300.

Some £120 more that I actually have.

If any one else can help?

I'd love to hear from you.

To be frank, though?

I can't complain much: especially about the amount of help I've had, so far.

A big thanks got to Olga, Carly and Sue: who've all put into to the fund.

It's been gratefully received: and much appreciated.

My only problem?

I can't access anything on my external drives.

Which is frustrating: there's a couple of links -- and their associated passwords -- on there that I can't access.

But at least I can contact the relevant bodies about that.

My only issue?

And it's minor, considering the money involved.

My only real issue is using my back-up, Ubuntu MATE based machine.

And that's mostly due to unfamilierity: the shortcuts and apps are very different.

Let's just say I'm doing a lot of swearing, there!

I’m am vaguely thankful!

Why?

Because I had a visit form a carpenter, yesterday: here to sort out my bathroom door.

It took him all of ten minutes.

To shave of the bottom of the door frame, a door frame that had warped over the years.

I’m thankful it was an easy thing to do.

Now all I have to do … ?

Is sort out the bath … !

Drat!

I managed to miss the Today show’s interview with Daniel Craig: publicising his new film, Glass Onion, and talking about his time as James Bond.

I’ll catch it on BBC Sounds, later.

I also note that Henry Cavill won’t be re-joining The Witcher, or as Superman.

Apparently?

He’s in talks with Amazon: about a potential Warhammer 40, 000 series.

The man’s a noted fan of the game:

So that makes sense.

However … ?

I’m very aware he’d be perfect for Bond: the job’s free, right now …

Yes: I was busy, yesterday!

A meeting with my landlord, a job centre meeting, and a flu jab.

That didn’t take long.

Once I found the part of the surgery where it was happening!

One unexpected, but welcome, visitor?

Was my landlord’s pest controller.

He was able to lay more bait: but advised he would be getting in tough with Clarion, themselves: a few kitchen units are going to need replacing, before anyone can block the holes the rats are getting through.

That … ?

Is going to be a big job.

Yep: it’s official the case, that — outside of posting more Christmas cards? — I’m going to be stuck in front of a screen all day!

Diagnostic test for the course, making Teaser videos, doing a video for a neighbour, writing more Christmas cards, frantically drying laundry … !

At some point … ?

Eating may be an idea … !

Right: it’s officially done for another year.

I hear you ask.

I’ve officially done my Christmas cards.

There’s going to be a few lucky people who who end up with CDs, as well.

Including one person who’s going to end up with a copy of New Boots and Panties.

Considering Plaistow Patricia’s on there?

It’s about the only time I’ve had to include an Explicit Content warning with a Christmas card!

I have to admit, after all that handwriting?

I told a bit of a break.

I actually ended up playing a game or two on the Apple TV: I’ve got a few.

Including one called Marble it Up: Mayhem.

You have to roll a marble around an obstacle course.

It’s actually a lot more fun than it sounds: especially if you grew up on an old ZX Spectrum game called Spindizzy …

Yep: it’s officially official.

I know know a little bit more about … compositing … !

Basically?

It’s a film technique.

Someone will get filmed in front of a blue or green screen.

Then, in post production?

The blue (or green) colour would be removed … and replaced with something else.

Moving background, image, what have you … 

Frankly?

It looks interesting … if I could do it.

Then, yesterday … ?   I watched this video … 

And thought, “Oh, I’ll have to look that up.”

Then … ?

I thought about just simply double checking the Help pages for iMovie … and found that it’s something I can do in iMovie.

That’s handy to know: assuming I can get some spare bedsheets, an upright frame … and a lot of green dye.

All this …

We, as a family?   Have got tickets for Star Wars: The Last Jedi: and I’m trying to avoid reading any spoilers about the thing.

Hmmm … 

Looks like there’s another strike on Southern Railways.

Again … !

They’re striking, so you know, about who exactly should close the train doors: guards, or drivers.

I have to admit, I’m … caught.

On the one hand?

I’m sympathetic to workers wanting a better deal.

On the other?

I think the union’s claim that the strike’s are about safety are a load of old twaddle.

I travel to Chelmsford by train, don’t forget: where the drivers close the train doors, after receiving a signal from a member of station staff.

Either way … ?

Were I a passenger on one of the affected routes, I’d be fuming at the delays.

To put it mildly.
