It’s official!

I’ve been paid!

That’s a good thing: it means I can pay off a few bills, and indulge my cravings for chocolate.

Suitably low sugar chocolate, obviously: diabetes is unforgiving, like that!

I’m left handed: you’d possibly worked that out, if you’ve been following me for a while.

I’m very aware there are some who put handedness on a pair with sexuality, and will make a negative moral judgement about you, based on one or the other*.

I’m also not a fan of terrorism: the idea of using violence in support of your cause.

I don’t think violence works, in persuading others your cause is just, and invites violent retaliation from your victims.

So … ?

So I welcome police probes into one group, Harakat Ashab al-Yamin al-Islamiya, who are claiming responsibly for several arson attacks.

It turns out, though, that their name translates as ‘The Islamic Movement of the People of the Right Hand’.

OK: I’m maybe being a little paranoid, here, a little sensitive over nothing.

But their name tells me that — in amongst the antisemitism, and attacks on Jewish, and Israeli, targets — they’re prejudiced towards left-handers, like me.

I don’t think the group will be fire-bombing my flat: I think they’re more concerned with fire-bombing synagogues.

But that name feels like a personal attack.

Right … it’s officially Thursday.

And … ?

I get some cash today: as I’ve just received a benefits payment.

That’s a good thing.

I’ve only got so much frozen food, and having something other than sausages* would be nice.

I suspect that you — like me — haven’t.

I mean, it’s not usually something that gets talked about, day-to-day.

But … ?

Apparently, scientists have found potential signs of life.

Potential: because there’s a lot of debate about it.

But … ?

It would be nice to think there’s life out there: even if it’s only ocean-going microbes!

I’d be phoning the Job Centre to find out what’s happening with my benefits.

Oh, the rent increase has gone through, so you know: the new service charges are frightening*!

I’m not, at the moment.

I’m up early, so I can get to my weight management class: that’s open for just a few short hours.

I’m looking forward to it.

But won’t know how it’s gone, until I get back.

We’ll have to see, won’t we?

Usually, I can claim for train fares: which I applied for on Monday.

I know it usually takes three days to clear … 

But it’s still not there.

I’m … a little worried …

I did last night: getting to bed at half past one.

I think I have good reason.

I finally managed to catch The Macra Terror.

I don’t think I’ve written the definitive review.

But I THINK I’ve written what — for me — is a well done piece.

For some time … ?

I’ve had a basic belief.

That computer security — at a national level — is a bit … 

Nationalistic.   Incorrectly applied nationalistic.

Just to give you an idea pf what I mean … ?

The BBC ran this piece, yesterday: telling us that an arm of GCHQ — Government Communications Headquarters — have declared Chinese company, ZTE, is a security threat.

The company is one of China’s biggest, makes both phone handsets, terminals … and the infrastructure networks that carry signals from them, to the rest of the network.

The fear is … ?

That ZTE’s building of a lot of networks gives them unparalleled access to sensitive UK information. And that they can pass this, easily, to the Chinese government.

Personally?

I don’t it doubt for a minute.

I also know Russia is having a finger pointed at it, recently: with awareness that it’s carryout out various shades of cyberwarface.

Personally … ?

I’m very aware many servers will be using a mix of Linux-based or Microsoft server software,  various shades of cloud storage — storage not controlled in-house — and operating systems from US companies.   

All this?   All this, and many of us will be using computers, and mobile devices, running US software.

Apart from Facebook?   Or companies like Cambridge Analytica?

Who’s got access to that?

Given this piece, I’m aware — and unsurprised — that Britain is carrying out cyber attacks on Islamic State.

I believe that we may be right to complaint about shady Chinese or Russian cyber-activity.

I also feel that we’re vulnerable to US cyber-espionage.

Through the phones, tablets, laptops and desktops we use everyday.

Ignoring that?

Is stupid.

Right … 

I’ve officially seen The Pilot.

In case you’re wondering?

That’s the first episode of series 10 of Dr Who, so you know: originally broadcast on Saturday night.

And … ?

“And?” I hear you say?

Well … 

I was impressed: that’s a very strong episode, with a hell of a lot of emotional depth, tight plotting … 

And a very impressive début from Pearl Mackie as new companion, Bill Potts.   Feisty, intelligent, wonderful speaking voice … 

There’s talk she’s only going to be in the show for one season.

If that’s the case?

That’s a distinct shame: going on this first appearance, Bill Potts is a very strong character.

Ye GODS, but I love a weekend like this … !

I was working, yesterday: and I’m working, today.

No problem there.

Except, of course, I finished at half twelve.   And today … ?

I start at twelve.

For someone who likes eating up in the morning … ?

For someone who likes to get up in the morning, that does mean a lot of things.

Frankly?

Having lots of caffeine around … !
