Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 20th April 2026

20th April, 2026.

Right then … it’s Monday … !

And … ?

I’m going to be feeling a bit rushed.

I’ve a Job Centre meeting at 13·30: by phone, with my case worker.

I’ve my usual weight management meeting, this morning: as I was up two hundred grams, last week, I’m hoping to have lost a few grams, this week.

And … ?

The camera that’s in the box I’m waving about in today’s introduction … ?

Has no screw for a tripod.

You know those standardised screw fittings, that lets you attach a camera to a tripod?

The fittings that should be on the bottom of a camera?

There isn’t one!

I hope the queue at the post office is short.

I’m feeling rushed … … … … … … !

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 20-4-2025 — Andy Serkis

20th April, 2025: Andy Serkis.

It’s got to be said: I am officially bloody knackered!

I managed to catch “Lux”, yesterday’s episode of Doctor Who: at about three in the afternoon.

This years sees the episodes turn up on iPlayer at eight in the morning, so you know.

Which I caught early: planning to get my reviews — written and video — done early.

I actually got the video finished and uploaded … at two in the morning.

After something went wrong with DaVinci Resolve: that meant re-starting the whole thing.

I can only hope the thing’s watchable!

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 20th April, 2024.

20th April, 2024.

Right … it’s Saturday.

And … ?

I caught a TV show … on Thursday!

Yes: I’ve caught another episode of Star Trek Discovery: and released a review, last night!

Feel free to thoroughly enjoy it!

~≈📺≈~

Talking of TV?

I’ve just seen this piece float across my Facebook feed.

It seems AppleTV+ are to make a version of William Gibson’s Neuromancer: one of my favourite novels.

Hmmm …

I must admit, I’m nervous about that: and only hope the producers do a version that’s authentic to the original text.

~≈🖥️≈~

No, I didn’t know who he was, either.

Not until — on Thursday — he stood outside the New York court where Donald Trump is being tried, threw lots of pamphlets around, covered himself in something flammable …

And then lit a match.

Apparently, in protest at both President Biden and former President Trump: and at US government attempts to launch “ …an apocalyptic fascist world coup”.

I can’t help the think the man was a bloody idiot!

Or was … unwell … !

Or, at least, extremely misguided.

I sound harsh, I know.

Justifiable, I think.

Setting fire to yourself — especially over something as trivial as a conspiracy theory* — is an unbelievably stupid thing to do.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 20th April 2023.

20th April, 2023.

Right …

I’ve had some information: and I’m not happy … !

I finally had a message from my work coach, my Job Centre case worker, yesterday.

I’ve officially been reclassified as having a Limited Capability for Work.

That’s good: although I’m assuming I still have to look for a job.

The downside?

According to my case worker, I only qualify for extra help if I have a Limited Capability for Work, and Work Related Activities.

I am seething!

OK: I’ve got the DWP to recognise I have medical issues.

I’m off for a blood today, in fact.

But no financial help?   In paying for electricity to keep a man with bad eyesight’s home lit?   A diabetes patient’s home warm?

That’s a bit much.

Granted, there’s other routes to explore.

But, even so … I’m good and angry.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 20-4-2022: UN Chinese Language Day

20th April, 2022.

Right … he says …

After juggling browsers, trying desperately upload today’s Teaser video!

Quite what happened, there?   Beyond the fact Safari couldn’t seemingly interact with the Playlist selector?

I don’t know!

~≈🍏≈~

At any rate … ?

At any rate, I’ve a meeting — by phone — with my Job Centre work coach, today.

Assuming she’s not changed the date at the last minute!

Hopefully?   It’ll go well.

~≈🍏≈~

Oh …

Remember me mentioning that the local phone mast — the one that got removed from a local office block — had been removed a few years ago?

Theoretically?   The various phone companies have been trying to put up various replacements, ever since.

A couple of days ago?

A phone mast got put up next to the multi-storey car-park in Coptfold Road: in the patch of parkland behind the High Street.

I took the photo, yesterday.

I was twenty foot away from the thing: and still only had three bars worth of signal.

Twenty foot away from a transmitter that — from what I could tell from the signage on the thing? — was put up by O2, my mobile provider.

Three bars: from twenty foot away.

Have you ever had the feeling you’ve been cheated … ?

For All Mankind — Series 2 Episode 3 — Rules of Engagement — A Review

20th April, 2021.

Right at the moment … ?

I’m feeling vague Douglas-Adamsy: and prepared to tell you that it’s Tuesday: and that Tuesdays are a point of view.

Or possibly a tinkling symbol …

Or a habit worth getting into or out of.

Or, maybe — just maybe — a day of the week.

Frankly?

From where I’m sitting, it’s a day of the week.

One where I’ve got into the habit of doing two things.

Watching a TV show

Then starting a blog post about the episode.

And then — ha! — writing about the day afterwards.

At any rate, yes: I’ve seen another episode of For All Mankind, series 2.

Yes: I’ll be talking about it, tomorrow night!

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 20-4-2021: Chinatown

20th April, 2021.

Yay!

I’m going to be sat indoors for part of the morning.

At least, until just gone 10:30.

That’s when my Job Centre appointment.

I’m … a touch nervous about it.

I’ve a new case officer: it’s my second meeting with her.

The call, itself?   Is to prepare what’s called a Commitments review: prepare for going over what I have to do to find work.

We’ll have to see how that goes!

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 20-4-2020: George Takei

20th April, 2020.

There are times when I get earworms: songs that seem to persistently stuck in my head.

There was, when I woke up, this morning.

Not with the song playing through my head.

No.

I head the question!

How exactly DO you solve a problem like Maria?

Really!

I can’t see poking her with a stick, working!

~≈Ü≈~

Oh …

Did I mention I’ve decided to catalogue my book collection?

I’ve decided to catalogue my book collection: just so you know.

It’s made me realise one thing: I’ve got a lot of gaps, there!

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 20th April, 2019

20th April, 2019.

Yep: I’ve actually seen the last episode of Star Trek Discovery’s second season.

The episode’s called Such Sweet Sorrow (Pt 2), and was the second of two episodes.

And?

And was quite a climax.   Amazingly big battles, incredible effects, nice emotional touches …

Oh, and death, destruction and disappearances …

About the only thing that could spoil it … ?

Was a serious lack of hot cross buns …

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 20-4-2018: Chinoiserie

20th April, 2018.

Yes: it’s official.

I grant I’ve got money troubles.

Believe it or not, some of the deductions, I’m getting means I’m thinking the job’s looking … uneconomic, at the moment.

But … ?

I’ve STILL got a pile of box sets to go through: built up over a collection of a couple of years.

And managed to start catching up with American Horror Show’s fifth series: watching the first episode last night..

OK, they’ve not got Jessica Lange in this one.

But Lady Gaga seems surprisingly competent.

And Sarah Paulson’s hair is GRUESOME!

The Void — Interestingly Strange …

20th April, 2017.

Hmmm …

I like films.

Which is possibly not explaining myself very well, is it?

I like watching films.

Although it’s not that often I get to see them.

Except may by renting one from iTunes.

Or — even more rarely — seeing one at the cinema.

Tonight?

Tonight was the former, rather than the latter.

I had cash …

Time off …

A couple SF films in my collection, I’d not seen …

And a whimsical desire to catch something totally different.

In renting The Void … ?

I think I managed that … !

The Daily Teaser — 20-4-2016

Right …

I’m officially back at work, today: on a 2pm ’til 8pm shift.

Which is always an odd one, frankly.

Mostly because it’s at an odd time.

Too late to be a daytime shift, and too early to be a nighttime one.

Or — and with thanks to Terry Pratchett for introducing me to the phrase — it’s too long for Dick, and too short for Richard.

Oy, veh … !
