Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 14-2-2026 — YouTube (Ten Questions)

14th February, 2026: YouTube.

It’s officially official: there’s been a hideously dreadful mistake.

A dreadful mistake, so hideous, that …

Well …

Someone’s possibly getting yelled at, in a way that involves yelling.

You’re possibly wondering what I’m talking about, aren’t you?

Let me be sensible.

It’s the toaster …

I ordered a toaster from Amazon, Tuesday just gone.

A cheap one: that, with one thing and another, I managed to get without having to pay the £4·99 delivery charge.

A cheap toaster that I ended up paying a tenner for.

Only to find that it would eventually be delivered … on 20th March.

Given that?

I complained to Amazon, had the delivery fee refunded, was given ten pound’s worth of gift card as “a good will gesture”, and told a refund would be in my bank account by next Thursday, at the latest.

The hideously dreadful mistake?

Was one made by Amazon: as they gave me £20 worth of gift card!

Well, I’m not going to mention it to them, am I … ?

Not when a new toaster turns up, this afternoon …

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 14-2-2025 — Dracula.

14th February, 2025: Dracula.

I have to admit to feeling slightly rushed, this morning.

Frankly?

Apple asked for me bank card details: despite having not had to, for some years.

Yes, before you ask: it’s definitely a genuine request, I checked the email.

 But quite what happened, there?

I don’t know.

There’s a woman the BBC are calling Beth: who was involved with a man the Beeb are referring to as ‘Agent X*’.

Who, as it turned out, was both a paid informant for MI5 … and who abused his by-now ex-partner, Beth.

The twists … ?

That Agent X was a Neo-nazi.

And MI5 lied in court about what they knew about him, at least three times.

Going by this piece?

Beth’s sueing MI5, I should add: and wants an apology.

Right now?

Given that my bedtime read is Thunderball?

I can only conclude the espionage business, the real espionage business, is not especially pleasant …

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 14-2-2024 — Raisin’ Arizona

14th February, 2024: Raisin’ Arizona.

Yes: it’s Saint Valentine’s Day!

And … ?

Yes: I’m not expecting a card!

Saying that?   The last one I got, was anonymous, a long time ago, and very appreciated.

Especially if it was from I think it was from.

They were gorgeous!

~≈❤️≈~

Oh, if you’re in the UK … ?

And use the iPlayer on a desktop, or laptop?

It seems the BBC’s iPlayer service will — from 11th March, this year — no longer allow downloads to Macs or PCs.

Apparently?

It’s costing them more money than it’s making them.

I can’t complain too much: as that was never something I used.

It just surprises that Aunty hadn’t done so, already.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 14-2-2023 — Silly Love Songs.

14th February, 2023: Silly Love Songs.

Yes: it’s officially official.

I’m expecting an early birthday present, today.

A new chair, if you’re wondering.

It should — according to the text message I’ve just received? — be with me between 15:00 and 16:00.

That’s nice to know.

Now … can someone buy me a bluray drive, please?

Mine’s having issues with macOS Ventura, after a recent update.

I can only hope that the further update — to macOS 13.2.1 — helps!

It’s time to come out of the metaphorical closet: and publicly admit I have type 2 diabetes.

I’m on a shed load of medication, as a result.

Including one called Semaglutide: a weekly injection that’s supposed to help reduce sugar levels — it does — and promote weight loss.

Handy for me, as I’m not exactly Mr Skinny!

I’ve been concerned, recently: as I, and many other diabetics on the stuff have been struggling to get hold of any.

As many … let’s call them celebrities … have been buying it in bulk: JUST to reduce weight.

Something it’s approved for in the US, but not in the UK.

At any rate … ?

It’s not necessarily easy to get … unless you get it on prescription.

And even then, it’s considered experimental.

I’m getting it — in part — to see if it can help me loss a few pounds.

As you’d expect?   There’s a twist in the tail.

As — according to a BBC piece* — many High Street pharmacists have announced they’re planning to sell the stuff: at around £70 to £75 mark.

One?   I’m not sure selling it to people who’ve not been diagnosed with an issue is wise: as it means less for those of us who have.

Two?   I’m glad I get my prescriptions for free†: that’s a LOT of money.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 14-2-2022: The Saint Valentine’s Day Massacre

14th February, 2022.

Right … I’m officially up earlier than normal: and thinking a dose of the ’flu — or whatever it is I actually have — doesn’t help!

But … ?

My nephew heading over early, today, means I’m up early, my self.

Do you get the feeling there’s going to be slightly grumpy video making, today?

Oy … !

~≈§≈~

Of course, I’ve got the radio on.

Or, at least, got Radio Four’s Today programme on.

Something that caught my (metaphorical) eye?   Or ear, at least?

Was a piece that told us AstraZeneca and the UK’s medical regulators have withdrawn approval for the 5ml dosage of a drug called Dapagliflozin — brand name, Forxiga — for patients with type one diabetes.

Or, at least, withdrawn the indication for it to be used.   I’m assuming that’s functionally identical with ‘withdrawing approval.’

Apparently?

There’s no safety concerns involved.

And those of us — like me — who are taking Forxiga to treat Type Two diabetes should continue taking it.

Quite what’s going on there … ?

I don’t know.

The Mandalorian — Series 2 Episode 2 — Chapter 10 The Passenger — A Review

13th February, 2021.

You know, it’s suddenly occurred to me … I do these intro videos to give people a summary of what’s ahead.

In this case?

That I’ve had dinner, and am going to watch an episode of The Mandalorian.

Or, at least, have just watched an episode of The Mandalorian, at the time of writing.

The second episode of The Mandalorianseries two, so you know.

And I’ve been doing all that, whilst posting on Instagram, listening to Brain Eno … and without telling you what I’ve had for dinner!
At any rate?   It seems Eno’s did an album back in 2018, called Music for Installations: I think I’m going to listen to that on Spotify, as and when.

Frankly, iTunes want quite a chunk of money!

At any rate … ?

I’m going to hit the sack.

Tomorrow night?

I’ll be telling you about The Passenger …

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 14-2-2021: We Love Oregon

14th February, 2021.

Yes: it’s official … it’s still cold!

By this evening, and going by the BBC’s weather website?

It’s going to hit a positively tropical 4ºC.

39.2ºF, if you’re that way inclined.

It’s hopefully going to be warmer, tomorrow!

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 14-2-2020: Saint Valentine’s Day …

14th February, 2020.

Right … it’s official.

I’ve started reading a book … in bed.

That’s actually been a habit of mine for a while, to be honest.

The one I’ve started … ?

Actually isn’t a romance: I’m not a romance kind of person …

No …

I’m three chapters in: and it’s proving to be interesting stuff.

Even if I am finding Eunice, the AI character, reminiscent of the Dixie Flatline: the personality construct in Neuromancer

Not that I mind.

You have to like consistency, don’t you … ?
“I’m dead, Case. Got enough time in on this Hosaka to figure that one.”
Dixie Flatline, Neuromancer, William Gibson.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 14-2-2019: Saint Valentine’s Day

14th February, 2019.

Righty-ho, then …

I’ve now officially done … an online assessment test for a potential employer … !

Normally?

Normally, as you’ve possibly already worked out if you’ve watched the introductory video, they’re something I’m really not found …  easy, especially, to do.

Most of them feature some form of personality inventory: which is where I think I fall apart!

Thankfully?

Yesterday’s test, for the Royal Mail … ?

Didn’t feature one.

Whether that means I’ve bagged an interview — with face to face, or on the phone? — is a whole other matter.

Here’s hoping, though …

~≈§≈~

Just as a quick thought … ?

It’s Saint Valentine’s Day.

You’d possibly noticed, hadn’t you … ?

Personally?

I’m … always ambiguous about the thing.

Usually, I’ve either been single … or been in the sort of relationship where’s the day’s seen as nice … but mostly, just another day.

What gives me more food for thought … ?

Is the one time I sent a card, I got a … a …

Let’s call it a bad reaction, and leave it, there, shall we?

At ANY rate … ?

The only thing I am expecting is a Dr Who book.

If you HAVE sent me a card … ?

It’s a bit late!

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 14-2-2018: Saint Valentine’s Day

14th February, 2018.

*Yawn*

No, really, it’s really …

Early …

Or, at least, earlier than I’m usually up …

Frankly?

I’ve got up at six, today: in order to get to work for an eleven o’clock start, and after getting home at eleven.

Yawn?

Possibly doesn’t even start!

~≈†≈~

In technology news?

In technology news, I see that the government of the UK have introduced software to allow websites to flag up videos of an extremist nature: allowing moderators to delete ones that genuinely are a problem.

Which is fair enough, I suppose.

My only real concern?

Is that, while I can see why both government and creators, are keen to keep it both closed source and under wraps, I also think making it open source would be a way to improve the thing.

AND to increase uptake.

After all, I can’t see firms putting government sponsored software one their IT kit … without know how the underlying code works.
