3rd November, 2024: Culture Day.

I’m a silly idiot!

I was doing dinner, last night: and filling the sink so I could wash up.

And … ?

And … ?

Really wasn’t paying attention to the sink.

It ended up flooding my kitchen … and knackering my washing machine.

In fact it was the various buzzing sounds from the washing machine, as the thing’s mother board was soaked, that grabbed my attention: and told me that I’d missed something!

I’m now facing an expensive repair: or possibly even a replacement.

OK, at the moment, I can afford it.

But it’s my own damn fault that I’m spending money I didn’t need to spend!

I managed to catch Talking Doctor Who on Wednesday.

And thought you might be interested in my review.

Oh … you’ll be aware that I’m a Doctor Who fan: one keeping an eye on the sixtieth anniversary stuff.

I caught Talking Doctor Who: as you’ve worked out.

And very aware the BBC’s iPlayer service is showing the Tales of The TARDIS.

Omnibus editions of six classic Dr Who stories: with added intros and outros.

I have to say: those intros are rather good.

On other fronts?

There’s going to be a sketch in this year’s Children in Need telethon.

On top of that … ?

The Daleks — the first appearance of the iconic creatures — has been edited and colourised: and due for an iPlayer re-release on the 23rd November, itself.

That could be interesting.

I have to admit, it’s a Tuesday evening.

You’ve possibly worked that out, looking at the date at the start of this entry.

Frankly?

It’s an evening on the day I’ve rearranged an appointment, and — currently — trying to register for the NHS eConsult service: so I can try and talk to my GP.

That’s … 

Well, that could be a lot simpler, let’s put it that way.

It wants my provisional driving license, a photo, wants to scan my face, what’s my NHS number — if possible — and possibly wants to sing to me.

Don’t even mention the SatNav!

At any rate … ?

It’s a Tuesday: so, given I have time?   I’m making a start of a review: of the next episode of Watchmen, series one.

I’ll finish it, tomorrow.

It’s another day, and another dollar.

Which seems appropriate: as, whilst I write, the BBC’s news channel is covering the US Presidential election.

Right now, Joe Biden has 227 of the required 270 electoral college votes: versus Trump’s 213.

Quite what will happen, I don’t know.

I hope Joe Biden wins: President Trump seems to be the least presidential President I can remember seeing.

But, at this rate … ?

We’ll probably only know for sure, by the end of the week!

Yes: it’s officially the case.

I’m going to filling in an online form.

I’ve been trying to apply for a European Computer Driving License course: for some time.

I just needing a computer running Windows to do the course.

Given I’m a rabid Mac fan?   You can imagine how I feel about that.

Needs must, those.

Today, I’ve got a meeting with my landlord’s Digital Futures team: to apply for the loan of a laptop.

Here’s hoping it goes well.

Right … 

It’s a quite Sunday: with the possibly exception of having to wade through tons of emails: to apply for whatever jobs happen to match my experience.

I’m starting to think there’s not much going to be honest with you.

At least … going by the amount of interviews I’m getting!

Onwards and upwards, though!

There’s — sort of — an upside in today’s news.

One that leaves me making Hmmm … noises.

It seems the government has announced that — as of April, next year — the current freeze in benefit payments is to end.

The rise that that starts next year?   Will be linked to inflations, and go up some 1.7%.

Some twelve pounds or so, for me.

Assuming my calculations are correct.

I’m … 

I’m thinking that’s a nice, helpful move.

However?

I’m also thinking that the UK’s going to have a general election on Thursday, 12th December.

I’m thinking this is good old fashioned electioneering: rather than the conviction it’s the right thing to do.

You know, I’ve a pile of things I’ve gotten done.

And another pile: of things I’ve yet to do.

Places I’d like to be, and people I’d like to see.

There’s a bit of wish fulfilment going on …

At any rate, I had a quiet night in: with everything I needed doing, done?

I felt I could dig up something from my movie collection.

The film in question?   The 2014 Director’s cut of 1990s Clive Barker film, Nightbreed: based on Barker’s own Cabal.

But I’m rather pleased.

As you know, I’ve written about the movies I’ve watched, over the years.

Damn good film, Cabaret.
