Right now?

Right now, it’s Saturday.

And the silly jokes I’ve uploaded seem to be doing well.

It’s also the day after I’ve put in an order for stuff from Amazon.

Including a cheap, 4k camera*: and a 2k copy of the 1981, BBC version of The Day of the Triffids.

I’m looking forward to the thing turning up: I’d love to see what the extra features, if there are any, are like.

You’re probably as aware as I am, that the 47th US president is a bit of a twit.

To put it mildly.

And also aware of the image he deleted from his social network: depicting him as a messianic, healer figure.

The image has been criticised: for looking a little too messianic, and crossing a line.

Of good taste, if nothing else.

I agree.

But also think a couple of things.

One?

Is that this image of the president, and others like it, looks a lot like some of the WW2 era Nazi propaganda, the sort designed to make Hitler look like a hero.

And second?

I grew up one Frank Herbert’s Dune novel: and came away from them convinced the writer didn’t like messiahs.

Or, at least, didn’t like the idea of politicians using religion to gain power.

Devout Republic that Herbert was?

I suspect he’d be spitting, on seeing these images of the President.

18th April, 2025: HMRC.

It’s officially Friday … !

Which, right now, means several things.

One … ?

I’ve had my weekly Mounjaro injections: which helps both with my diabetes and my weight.

Two?

There’s been reports that pharmaceutical company, Eli Lilly, has released a new medication called orforglipron.

It’s a new pill: pill, rather than injection, designed to treat diabetes, and help with weight loss.

Hopefully, when released … ?

It will be both effective: and plentiful!

Shortages of other such medications is notorious.

Right … it’s Thursday!

And … ?

I have to confess, Jude — my nephew — was over, last night: posting another video about Mikey the Rabbit.

You wouldn’t think a bunny’s a Liverpool fan, would you … ?

You know … there’s a few MPs who’ve been suspend, over the past few months.

Another — Tory MP, Mark Menzies — had the whip withdrawn, today: for misuse of campaign funds.

Apparently?

He phoned his former campaign manger — who’s in her seventies — to ask for some five thousand pounds (£5, 000) as “… a matter of life and death.”

And did this … at three-fifteen in the morning!

The abuse of funds comes as the money was paid — from their personal funds — by his office manager.

Then re-paid to the office manager from campaign funds.

There’s other amounts: but that’s the headline one.

Yes: I’m thinking what you’re, possibly, thinking.

Why on EARTH was he in a situation where he needed £5000 … at quarter past three in the morning!?

What had he been doing to need that money?

I hate to say I’m suspicious of, and laughing at, Mark Menzies … but I’m suspicious of, and laughing at, Mark Menzies!

Hmmm … 

Phone calls … phone calls, phone calls, phone calls … !

I’m expecting one, today: by six pm.

From the Job Centre: about the — theoretical — award I’ve been given.

I am — given their recent form — not expecting it to happen!

I was on the phone, yesterday, though: to the courts, to see if they could help.

They couldn’t do a thing, as it turns out: unless someone from the Department of Work and Pensions asked.

I think several things.

Including that this has been a long journey.

But, right now … ?

I think I’m getting a very British runaround.

Right … I managed to catch Legend of the Sea Devils, last night.

I was caught by the teaser trailer at the end: for Jodie Whittaker’s last episode.

A couple of the cast of the episode caught my eye.

Yep: it looks like Sophie Aldred and Janet Fielding are back, however temporarily, as Ace and Tegan.

According to the Daily Mail, Dr Who fans are ‘hyped.’

I’m not!

I’m just looking forward it.

I’ll tell you something else, too.

I’d love to see the Behind the Sofa for this one!

At any rate, I’m expecting a quiet day, today.

I have to admit, I enjoyed the extras in the eighth season set: including the Behind the Sofa watch-alongs.

Which could be fun!

Doctor Who — The Faceless Ones: Episodes 5 and 6 — A Review

Life under lockdown … is an amazingly boring thing.

Possibly boring, at least.

After all, there’s only so many time you can sweep the floor, wipe the surfaces or stare at walls.

And only so much dinner you can eat.

I’m getting sick of sweets potatoes — the red ones — so I had a change of pace, today.

Brown rice, with chicken, runner beans and peas.

I had a couple of women message me on Instagram: going by the handles of @bellakumesnancy and @christeenamanda062.

@bellakumesnancy seemed especially interested in — as she put it — chatting me up.

And sending me pictures.

On Goggle Hangouts.

Which is where I gently accused the young lady of being a scammer, blocked her, and deleted the chat.

It seemed a little too good, too much like a potential scam*, to be true.

Sadiq Khan, the Mayor of London, has suggested masks be made compulsory for all Londoners: during the current outbreak.

I can’t say it’s a bad idea.

But, speaking as an unemployed person?

My first question would be ‘Who’s paying for those … ?’

Yep: I’m nervous.

I’ve got an interview, today.

For a social landlord in Pitsea, would you believe?   Doing the same sort of job that I was doing in Chelmsford: at a slightly better salary.

It’s one I dearly want.

I’m hoping two things.

Firstly?

That the trip — to get to Pitsea, I have to go towards London — doesn’t get held up by climate protestors.

Secondly?

That I get the job …

Road Works …

 18th April, 2018

Yeah … 

 You’ll excuse the lack of a shirt, there, but I’ve just had a walk: just to get a bit of exercise.

And found that, just around the corner from where I live — on Rollason Way, in Brentwood — workmen building at the junction with Warley Hill … have closed off half the street.

Building a building that many in the area have long opposed, for a mix of reasons.

For some years, now?

I’ve been concerned that the various planning decisions in my area mean getting police cars down my street is hard.

Getting ambulances and small delivery vans down it, harder.

Getting a fire engine down the street?

Extremely hard, indeed.

I’m also very aware that this wee, one of my neighbour’s smoke detectors went off.

At least once a day, over the course of three days, as a result of smoke generated by frying bacon!

Fire engines were called out, each day, to deal with it.

This was before the workmen narrowed the street.

The Daily Teaser — 18-4-2016

Hmmm … 

Come the 23rd June?

Come the 23rd June, there’s going to be an EU referendum in the UK.

Personally?

I am still not sure which way to vote: even now, as the date grows nearer.

But … ?

The news has come in, today, that the Treasury has said Britain’s economy would contract by some six per cent.

Now I couldn’t tell you.

But — and despite what Chancellor George Osbourne has said in the interview he’s giving to Radio Four’s Today programme — I can’t help think that is is the Government coming down on the side of the Remain campaign.

Potentially breaking the Electoral Commission rules on the referendum in the process.

Pros and cons aside, I think this is — much like the government-issued leaflet, issued just before the start of the referendum campaign — somewhat unfair to the Leave campaign.

And I’m tempted to vote leave as a result.
