Well, I say exciting.

I suspect it’s going to be quiet: bar a meeting on Friday.

I’ve got the radio on: inevitably.

Radio Four’s Today programme is countering away in the background.

Complete with an audio version of this piece.

Telling us that it’s getting increasingly hard for the over fifties to find work: as a majority of employers don’t want to hire people in the age bracket.

I’m one of those people.

Frankly?

The article only confirms something I’ve known for a while.

But it’s nice to see it in print …

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 30-1-2022: Sunday, Bloody Sunday.

30th January, 2022.

Yes: things are happening … 

Other the past few weeks?

Russian troops have been massing on the border of the Ukraine.

Indeed, that was happening when I did a recent Teaser about the country.

President Biden, in the meantime … ?   Has warned that Russia may wall invade: as have various members of his government.

In response?   The UK has sent some troop to various NATO allies: with the PM contemplating sending more.

Personally … ?

I can’t help but think a few things.

Partly?   Starting a war in Eastern Europe is a bad thing.

Partly?   Whilst the UK doesn’t get that much in the way of gas from Russia, our European, NATO allies do.   I can’t see them approving something that could potentially put fuel prices up any further than they’ve already gone.   And potentially cut off supplies.

Partly?   The expense.   Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, and Chancellor, Rishi Sunak, have confirmed that they will be increasing National Insurance to help support the National Health Service.   They could easily increase other taxes to pay for a war.

Partly?   Because it’s the Iraq War, all over again: it’s Britain taking part in a US led war, something that’s none of our business.

Mostly?   It’s none of our business.

I voted Remain in the EU referendum: I’m still convinced staying was the right thing to do.

But I’m very aware many voted Leave: as they felt the EU was interfering with the UK’s domestic affairs.

I put the Iraq War on a par with that.   It was the US dictating UK foreign affairs.

Britain joining any US action in the Ukraine?   Would be Britain being dictated to by the US, again.

Not something I want.

Saying that?   I think there’s not going to be military action in or over the Ukraine.

This is so much sabre-rattling, to make President Biden — and Boris Johnson — look good.

But?

I can’t help but think of a line I think came from Not The Nine O’clock News: possibly from a Mel Smith or Rowan Atkinson character.

Frankly?

I’ve got that private appointment, today, to get at least on ear syringed.

Frankly?   I’m looking forward to that.

My right ear is … distracting … !

I’ve just caught some news.

According to the BBC’s news site, many children sleep with their mobile phones.

Which doesn’t sound too surprising, now I think of it.

I do: the alarm clock comes in handy.

Whether it’s a good idea for a child to?

I don’t know.

I’m just thinking show that article to my nephew, Jude?

Would mean Mummy wouldn’t hear the last of it … !

While we’re talking about news?

The BBC were due to switch off their Red Button text service, today.

The service — so you know — is the modern successor to the BBC’s Teletext service: and useful if you’re not on line.

Thankfully … ?

The BBC has suspended the switch off service.

That’s going to be handy …

I’m hoping he repair my toilet in good time: and make sure he turns the water back on, when he goes.

I’m getting sick of bucket flushing.

OK, OK, maybe I didn’t.

Strictly speaking?

It’s not the news ‘saying’ it, either.

It’s the news channel, or a news channel, Buzzfeed, reporting on a leaked government report: showing three models of Britain’s economic growth, post-Brexit.

Growth that slows, in various degrees, depending on the deal we get.

Apart from any bespoke deal we manage to get.

Which obvious.   We can’t guess how a bespoke deal will affect the UK … until it’s done.

Right now?

I’m  thinking … 

Well, lots of things: including the idea that going back to bed is a good idea.

But, frankly?

I voted remain.

I’m no economist, but I had a vague idea we’d be better off as part of a group doing some good ol’ left wing, collective bargaining.

If these models are accurate?

If they turn out to be accurate predictions of our country’s growth outside the Union?

I’m thinking this news reinforces my reasons for voting remain: slow growth means less chances for my nephew, as he grows up.

That’s not something I’m happy with.

I’ve just had a quick look at the BBC news site.

It seems a mosque in Quebec has been attacked.

With six killed, and eight injured.

Personally?

I think however tempting violence might be at times?

Attacking a mosque to show your support for Donald Trump’s travel ban?

Doesn’t count as as appropriated response!

I’ve managed to have a look at my kid sister’s laptop: as it’s been having problems.

And think I’ve worked out what the issue is.

Yep.

It’s a cheap PC …

With a dead battery … 

I think she needs a new one …
