It’s true … 

It’s been six months since Grenfell Tower went up in smoke: the Memorial is being held today

That fire saw the deaths of seventy-one people: with the survivors still (mostly) un-rehomed, and traumatised.

Personally?

I can remember seeing Grenfell go up, on the news: and being deeply shocked by it.

After all, there were people in there.

Right now?

I can only hope the service being held help those survivors find some closure.

I suspect it won’t.

I suspect nothing will.

Bar — possibly — an enquiry result that really helps find out what happened.

And the survivors being re-homed in their area: soon‡.

*        I know exactly where you’re coming from, Olga!   I’m just glad it rained, overnight, it meant a LOT of ice got melted.   (I’m still grateful I didn’t have to go to work, yesterday: it meant getting cards written, not going out in the rain … and I could get my cards written.   My hand aches: I’m going to have to learn Arabic, it’s one of the few written languages that’s the right way around for a southpaw!)

†        Ironically, it’s not a bad little film, Debbi.   Apart from Russell’s accent: dratted thing went from Wellington, New Zealand, through Manchester, Liverpool, Cornwall, dipped into East London, wandered through South London … and never actually landed in Nottingham, where the character’s supposed to be from.   (Gillian Anderson’s English accent is better: mind you, she grew up in London!)

‡        I think the rehoming is going to be a problem.   I think it’s going to take a while: because the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, like other councils, doesn’t have enough social housing.
