Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 9th March 2026

9th March, 2026.

Right …

I think I’ve sorted out an issue: where my browser was refusing to upload videos to a given blog post.

The little I could find online told me that I needed to clear my browser’s caches and cookies.

So … ?

I’ve uploaded a second version: in case the first doesn’t work.

~≈📺≈~

I’ve also got to admit: I did a little tweaking with that video.

At about the fourteen to seventeen seconds mark, I’ve managed to use some phone footage: but, as my phone can’t record with a green background, I’ve had to use Final Cut Pro’s Magnetic Mask to remove the background.

After finally realising that I had to press the ‘Done’ button to get the thing working …

Which means … not a lot, right now.

But if I ever get a better quality camera, one that can’t be connect to QuickTime, I can possibly do all sorts of stuff.

Once I’ve learnt how to turn down the volume …

~≈📺≈~

As a last thought … ?

My family treated me to a takeaway fish supper, yesterday: from what has to be Brentwood’s best.

About my only problem, one I’ve had with cod and chips from other places … ?

Is that I’ve ended up with a case of the farts.

What’s happening there … ?

I don’t know … !

~≈🍟≈~

Let’s move on.

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Mum*, Olga† and Debbi‡ putting in their answers: with everyone scoring five out of five.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video.

Q1)        A mass shooting took place on 9th March, 2023.   In which German city: Berlin, Hamburg or Frankfurt?

Q2)        Mickey Spillane was born on 9th March, 1918.   He was known as the “king of …” what: pulp fiction, SF or romance?

Q3)        Nabucco premiered on 9th March, 1842.   It was whose first opera: Giuseppe Verdi, Giuseppe Persiani or Luigi Petrali?

Q4)        9th March, 1815, saw Francis Ronalds describe the first battery powered what: clock, car or watch?

Q5)        Finally … ?   The Barbie doll was introduced on 9th March, 1959.   The Barbie movie was released in which year of the 2020s?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1)        Kat von D was born on 8th March, 1982.   She’s best known as a what: comedian, tattooist or lumberjack?
A1)        A Tattooist.

Q2)        YouTuber, Keemstar, was also born on 8th March, 1982.   What’s his YouTube channel called: DramaAlert, DramaDessert or DramaLlama?
A2)        DramaAlert.

Q3)        The Althing re-opened on 8th March, 1844: after a years-long shutdown.   The Althing is the parliament of where: Denmark, Greenland or Iceland?
A3)        Iceland.

Q4)        Raymonde de Laroche received her pilot’s license on 8th March, 1910: becoming the first woman to do so in the process.   What nationality was she: French, German or Russian?
A4)        French.

Q5)        Finally … ?   8th March, 1979, saw Philips publicly demonstrate what: the CD, the DVD or the Bluray?
A5)        The CD.
Here’s a thought …
“You can figure things out as quickly as I can, but you haven’t got the ways and means of doing the dirty work.   That’s where I come in.”
From I, The Jury, by Mickey Spillane, March 9, 1918 – July 17, 2006.
And an Lloyd Price song …

The next ten-question set is on 25th March: it’s about Greece.

Your comments, and today’s answers, will be published in tomorrow’s Teaser.

AI is avoided when writing these questions.

Answers are as accurate as possible: at the time of writing.

Decisions about scores are final.

Thank you for coming: have a good day.

*        Hello, Mum.   (Thanks for dinner, yesterday!)

†        Oh, my lord!   Olga, they had the posters for Barbarella, and 2001 … !   Barbarella was possibly the campiest SF film ever made: and 2001 still looks superb, after — what — sixty odd years?   It’s still the proverbial ‘good science fiction movie’.

OK, which Holmes are we talking about, Debbi: Sherlock or Robert … ?

Just as a last point … ?

I’ve checked with both Safaria, Firefox, Google Chrome and TorBrowser: and it looks like the intro video has been successfully uploaded to the page.

Yay … …

I saw Barbarella many years ago. Very, very campy. At the time, it seemed less exploitative than cartoonish to me. :)

Just goofy, half-dressed fun! :) lol
