Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 4-4-2017

Do you watch the news?

I do.

And caught the news that a Metro train in Saint Petersburg, in Russia — Vladimir Putin’s home town — has been hit by what’s described as a suicide bomber.

Yesterday.

My thoughts are going in all sorts of directions.

They’re with the families of those killed.

They’re thinking the driver of the bombed trained driving it to the nearest station … ?

Seems to have helped save lives, as it allowed emergency staff easier access to the injured.

And my thinking?

Has been shaped by what I know of history: things like the Beslan School siege, or the Moscow Theatre attack, or its actions during WW2.   I’ve come to the conclusion the one government and country that will react strongly to an attack is Russia.

My semi-serious line — that always made a former, Russian, neighbour laugh — is that attacking Russia is a good way of committing suicide.

Whoever claims responsibility for this?

Is in trouble.

In other news?

In other news, the BBC have released a second trailer for series ten of Dr Who.

Pay attention to the last few seconds to the thing.

We’ve been told Peter Capaldi leaves at Christmas.

Can I run this past you?   I think, much like the shift from Ecclestone to Tennant, the regeneration will take place in the last episode of season ten: with a flashback seen in the Christmas Special.   Effectively, Peter Capaldi’s Twelfth will ‘leave’ in the Special, having done his last performance in the tenth season.

Here’s another controversial thought?   We know the new series has seen romantic undertones between the Tenth Doctor and Rose.   And, arguably, there’s a lot of unresolved sexual tension between Matt’s Smith’s Eleventh Doctor, and Amy, Clara and River.

We know Bill is to be the first openly gay, full time, companion.

Those undertones won’t necessarily continue … if the new Doctor’s a man* …

Ah!

That’s handy.

I’ve got money.

To be frank, I’ve got someone else’s money.

My sister, Ruth’s, in other words.

I’m going to be taking her laptop in to a local computer shop: to get it repaired.

Apparently … ?

It’s the graphics card that’s causing the problem.

Frankly?

The sooner it’s started, the better.

It’s a Sunday.   Which you’d possibly guessed!

And, of course, it’s a Sunday where I‘m working … 

Which you’ve possibly ALSO expect.

At some point, I’m going to have to book a weekend off.

Well, it’d be nice to sleep in on a Sunday.

At ANY rate … ?

I’ve the night off, tonight: which means I’ll be seeing my family for dinner.

Which means I’m going to have to ask one youngest sister for money: in order to get her laptop repaired.

I know people say Macs are expensive.

Which is a good point.

On the other hand?

Ruth’s spent £30* on a new battery, is going to spend another £90 — and lose three weeks use of a computer —and has already lost man-hours.

You do the math … !

Nik Nak’s Foolish Teaser — 1-4-2017: April Fool’s Day

I know this will sound like a joke … but it’s serious.

And something I meant to mention a day or two ago.

I — like others — have occasion troubles sleeping.   And just as often, use the loo over night.

And like my food, rather salty.

What grabbed my attention, a couple of days ago?

Was news that Japanese research had shown there’s a link between lot’s of salt: and using the loo a lot at nights.

I think cutting down my salt intake might help!

In other news?

We’re all very well aware that there’s to be a new companion in the upcoming tenth series of Dr Who: Bill Potts, played by Pearl Mackie.

And it turns out Bill is to be the show’s first, openly gay, full time companion,

Great: that’ll help the show’s diversity, I think.

Although I’m very aware that some countries are going to complain.

Personally?

I welcome it.

And, given the new versions of the show’s occasionally had touches of romantic interest between the main characters?

Keep thinking Tilda Swinton should get a phone call from the BBC …

Righty-ho, then!

It’s officially back-to-work Friday.

Oh, and Payday.

Which means sorting out the bills, of course.

The one thing I am grateful for … ?

Is that I managed to pay my mobile phone bill, last week.

It means I don’t have to top up, this week.

More for me, then!

I can possibly stat putting aside some savings!
