Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 21-10-2016: The Metre

Oh, lord … I am officially yawning … !

Mind you, I was up late, last night … !

I had my sister over: and was helping her set up her new iPhone 7.

Which mostly went well …

Apart from being held up …

By a bad signal from my router …

Wouldn’t you know it … ?

~≈Î≈~

But let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Debbi* putting in her answers: scoring five out of five in the process.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s themed questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video …

Q1) The Metre was redefined, on the 21st October, 1983: at the General Conference on Weights and Measures.   It was defined as being the distance travelled in 1/299,792,458th of a what: second, minute or hour?
Q2) The distance travelled by what?
Q3) Up until then, the metre had been defined as 1, 650, 763.73 wavelengths of the emission spectrum of an atom of which gas: Argon, Krypton or Xenon?
Q4) That definition replaced the original one.   The original defined the metre as 1/10, 000, 000th of the distance from the Equator: to where?
Q5) Which lower case letter is usually used as the symbol for the metre?
Q6) Spell ‘metre’ … in American English.
Q7) What DOES a metre measure: length, time or speed?
Q8) What name is given to 1/1000th of a metre: one decimetre, centimetre or millimetre?
Q9) One measure of liquid is defined as 1/1000th of a cubic metre.   What name is given to that measure: a pint, litre or fathom?
Q10) Finally … How many metres are there, in a kilometre?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …
Q1) 20th October, 1973, saw the first visit to the UK: by which religious leader?
A1) The Dalai Lama.
Q2) 20th October, 1882, saw the birth of Bela Lugosi.   In which 1935 film did he play Dr Richard Vollin?
A2) The Raven.
Q3) 20th October, 1803, saw saw the US Senate ratify the Louisiana Purchase.   The US government bought the territory from which country?
A3) France.
Q4) 20th October, 1973, saw the opening of the Sydney Opera House.   Its organ — the largest of its type in the world — is in which of the Opera House’s venues?
A4) The Concert Hall.
Q5) Finally … 20th October, 1971, saw the birth of Cordozar Calvin Broadus, Jr.   He’s better known as which rapper?
I’ll leave you with this thought …
“Ben Franklin may have discovered electricity - but it is the man who invented the meter who made the money.”
Earl Wilson.
And these videos …

Have a good day.

*        Oh, yes!   Going totally off topic, Debbi … did you ever see Let the Right One In?   Fantastic film … !   (He says, digging up another video …)

You're still having problems, even with a new router? You need to document every time you have issues Then when you get your bill, call your provider and read it to them, demand a rebate and demand they give you the service they promised when you signed up.

Are there any other internet providers you can go to? I had this same problem with Bell. Took THREE routers to get one that worked. I couldn't stream videos to my tv without it buffering constantly! I switched to ACN. You should check & see if ACN services you. It's awesome! I haven't had any problems with their service.
