Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 24-12-2025 — Christmas Eve

24th December, 2025: Christmas Eve.

I am officially up early: for a diabetic review.

Way too early!

So early, in fact, that my eyeballs hurt, and there’s utter silence from the street!

Frankly?

That’s actually quite nice.

There’s a certain romance to early mornings.

~≈🌅≈~

I know it’s Christmas: it’s silly season, in other words.

And, as a result of seeing a news piece on the King’s Christmas Message, this year?

I’ve got Roger Miller’s version of “England Swing’s Like a Pendulum Do”, floating around my head.

I can’t help but think one thing.

Whoever wrote the song had only heard of Westminster Abbey, and the Elizabeth Tower …

Let’s move on.

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Mum* and Debbi† putting in their answers: with Debbi scoring five out of five and Mum on three.

The day also saw Olga‡ leaving us a message.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video.

Q1)        24th December is Christmas Eve.   Is Christmas Eve, 2025, a public holiday in the UK?

Q2)        The Night Before Christmas was the eleventh album by whom: David Hasselhoff, Carman Electra or Pamela Anderson?

Q3)        “Christmas Eve” is a 1832 short story by Nikolai Gogol.   Gogol was born in a village that’s now in which country: Ukraine, Belarus or Poland

Q4)        Christmas Eve is a character in which musical: Wicked, Avenue Q or Cabaret?

Q5)        Finally … ?   For churches that follow the old Julian calendar, Christmas Eve is on which date: 6th January, 7th January or 8th January?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1)        23rd December is Festivus.   It was popularised in an episode of what show: Cheers, Seinfeld or The Garry Shandling Show?
A1)        Seinfeld.

Q2)        The writer of the episode revealed the tradition was based on the dinner his family used to have on the 23rd December.   A dinner that featured ham, or what: chicken, turkey or goose?
A2)        Turkey.

Q3)        After Festivus Dinner, you’re supposed to air your whats: underpants, grievances or bedding?
A3)        Grievances.

Q4)        You’re supposed to display a Festivus what: tree, pole or boot?
A4)        A Festivus pole.

Q5)        Finally … ?   Festivus is usually described as a what holiday: a secular one, a spiritual one or a religious one?
A5)        Secular.
Here’s a thought …
“Christmas Eve is the evening or entire day before Christmas, the festival commemorating the birth of Jesus.”
From the Wikipedia entry on Christmas Eve.
And a Kelly Clarkson song …

There’s a twelve question set is on 31st December, 2025: it’s the review of 2025.

The next ten question set is on 1st January, 2026: it’s about The Archers.

Your comments, and today’s answers, will be published in tomorrow’s Teaser.

AI is avoided when writing these questions.

Answers are as accurate as possible: at the time of writing.

Decisions about scores are final.

Thank you for coming: have a good day, and have a happy Christmas.

*        Hello, Mum … !   (It was turkey and ‘secular’, Mum, not chicken and ‘Spritual’)

I think Ruth Gordon had a very good point, there, Debbi!
A book about traditions could be good.   If you can get it banned, it would sell like hot cakes!

It looks like the dinner was well attended, Olga: and well organised.   These things usually have to be, don’t they?   And I couldn’t not mention the Caganer.   I don’t usually do Christmas decorations: but might just have to treat myself.
I’ll keep my finger crossed for the TV show!
