Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 5th March 2026.

5th March, 2026.

Right … it’s officially the day after my birthday: thanking you, if you wished me well, and/or got me a present.

Both are much appreciated!

Appreciated or otherwise?

Life goes on: and I’m now a year older.

But not necessarily wiser.

~≈🦉≈~

One thing I did notice, yesterday?

Bar the fact I’m a year older?

Is that Apple have now released their new range of MacBook, the MacBook Neo.

It’s a machine that comes with just eight gigabytes of RAM, up to 512 gigabytes of SSD, and powered by an A-series chip: rather than the M-series chips other Macs use.

Yes: I would like one.

But … ?

I have my doubts.

I’m very aware it’s seen as Apple’s affordable option: as a less expensive way of entering the Apple ecosystem.

But also aware that similar-specced machines — usually running ChromeOS or Windows — are available on Amazon for a lot less: there’s plenty of Chromebooks for less, for example.

I’m also thinking that eight gigabytes of RAM, and 256 to 512 gigabytes of hard drive wouldn’t necessarily means it’s going to be something to make music or videos with.

Especially not with Final Cut: my limited experience tells me an M-series iPads may be a better option, there.

But … ?

As an on-the-go machine, used to keep in touch?

It could be useful: that’s why I’d be wanting something like this.

~≈🧑🏻‍💻≈~

Just as a last thought … ?

I few weeks ago, I was recording the footage for a recent batch of Teaser videos: and having problems, as my Mac was overheating as a result.

I was advised to clear out various caches, and restart my Mac, to solve the issue.

That didn’t seem to help much.

But?

Having cleaned the relevant caches, made sure the Pages files that seemed to be causing the issues were set to ‘Keep Downloaded’, and that my machine was updated to macOS Tahoe 26.3.x, seemed to work.

I’ve been able to film with no problem.

Here’s hoping …

~≈♨️≈~

Let’s move on.

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Mum* and Debbi† putting in their answers: with Mum scoring four out of five, and Debbi on three.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video.

Q1)        5th March, 2026, is the last day of the 2026 Mobile World Congress.   The Congress is held every year: in which Spanish city?

Q2)        During the Italo-0Turkish War, 5th March, 1912, saw Italian forces made the first military use of what: biplanes, submarines or airships?

Q3)        The ZX81 was released on 5th March, 1981.   The computer was released by which company: Acorn, Apple or Sinclair Research?

Q4)        5th March is Saint Piran’s Day.   Saint Piran is the patron saint of whom: gold miners, tin miners or copper miners?

Q5)        Finally … ?   China marks ‘Lei from Lei Feng Day’ on 5th March.   Lei Feng was a what: soldier, sailor or pilot?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1)        Graham Westley was born on 4th March.   How many times has he managed Stevenage FC: two, three or four times?
A1)        Four times.

Q2)        Jorge Celedón was born on 4th March.   He’s a vallenato singer: from which south American country?
A2)        Colombia.

Q3)        Patsy Kensit was born on 4th March.   As a child, she filmed a series of adverts for Birds Eye what: fish fingers, frozen peas or beef burgers?
A3)        Frozen peas.

Q4)        Chaz Bono was born on 4th March.   Who are his parents: Sonny and Cher, Martin Landau and Barbara Bain or Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta Jones?
A4)        Sonny and Cher.

Q5)        Finally … ?   One of those people is the odd one out: because they were born in a different year.   Who is the odd one out.
A5)        Chaz Bono.   He was born in 1969: Graham Westley, Jorge Celedón and Patsy Kensit, were born in 1968.
Here’s a thought …
“I’m now at the age where I’ve got to prove that I’m just as good as I never was.”
Rex Harrison, 5 March 1908 – 2 June 1990.
And an Eddie Grant song …

The next ten-question set is on 25th March: it’s about Greece.

Your comments, and today’s answers, will be published in tomorrow’s Teaser.

AI is avoided when writing these questions.

Answers are as accurate as possible: at the time of writing.

Decisions about scores are final.

Thank you for coming: have a good day.

*        Hello, Mum!   (It was frozen peas, Mum, not fish fingers!)

It was four times, Debbi, and Chaz Bono.   He was born in ’69, not ’68.
Yeah, I thought that gif might go down, well, Debbi: I can’t think why!   (Oh, remember Edith?   She was asking after you, yesterday.)

Sorry to have missed your birthday, Paul. Not having you on Twitter and not visiting myself around very much doesn't help keep up, but I hope you had a nice day. My mother fell at home (she's fine, but it was a bit of a scare) and one of the construction workers working on the refurbishing of my mother's building fell from the scaffolding. Thankfully he got off quite lightly (a few broken ribs), but we didn't know anything for a few hours... A day for falling. And today it's raining heavily.
Take care and I hope the recordings go well. (I was reading an article about the last "cheap" phone model for Apple. and it seems people are not impressed).
