Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 9-8-2021: Tom Hanks.

9th July, 2021.

Right then … it’s a Friday.

So, inevitably, I’ll doing my Follow Friday’s on Twitter, later.

Just as inevitably?

I’ve another meeting: or, at least, Zoom lesson on my course.

Which reminds me, I’ll have to do another section of the associated Health and Safety Course!

Busy, busy, busy!

Do you follow the Technology news?

I do: or, at least I try to … if I can understand it!

At any rate?   Something I noticed, this morning, is Sainsbury’s big decision: to stop selling CDs and DVDs.

Basically … ?   Because people are shifting from optical media, to subscribing to streaming services like Netflix and Apple Music.

That’s …

Well, I’ve mixed feelings about it.

On the one hand … ?   I’ve bought from iTunes, and listen to Spotify as much as anyone.

And rented movies from various VOD services.

On the other hand … ?

There are times when buying the CD is cheaper than buying the album from iTunes: or the thing’s not on Spotify.

The same applies to DVDs.

It’s …

Well, it’s sad.

But there you go …

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 8th July, 2021

8th July, 2021

You’ve possibly realised that I’m jobhunting, at the moment.

And, like many?   I’m claiming benefits.

For the past year or so … ?

I’ve also benefitted from the £20 uplift: introduced in April of 2020, to help deal with the financial fallout from COVID.

That was helpful: it’s gone toward my council tax bills.

And to the occasional treat: very occasional.

However … ?

The Government announced, yesterday, that it would be phased out.

My finances will suffer.

So will many others.

So will Brentwood Council’s: I suspect many others, like me, will be unable to pay their council tax bill.

Right at the moment … ?

The Chancellor, Rishi Sunak, has just been confronted about this, on Radio Four’s Today programme.

And, to my mind?   Not been able to answer Justin Webb’s basic question: about an old Conservative belief*.

“How is cutting people’s benefit supposed to get people employment?”

Frankly?

I’ve never voted Conservative.

But would have considered it: had the Government kept the uplift.

Local MP, Alex Burghart?

Will not be getting my vote, in the next General Election.

His government is not helping people survive.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 7-7-2021: World Chocolate Day

7th July, 2021.

Right … I’ve finished some videos, been to two Zoom meetings, had a meeting about my CV …

And done my usual job searching.

It means I’ve some free time.

I really should do the next bit of the Health and Safety training I’m on … but I’m also tempted to watch some TV: I’ve the first series of Perry Mason, and Lovecraft Country, sitting around.

Saying that … ?

I’m also reading Foundation: the original, Asimov, novel.

We’ll have to see.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 6th July, 2021.

6th July, 2021.

I have to say … I had a pair of meetings, yesterday.

Well … a meeting … and a training course.

The net result … ?

I’ve applied for more jobs: and have another meeting, today: to review changes made to my CV.

We’ll have to see how that goes, won’t we?

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 5th July, 2021

5th July, 2021.

Believe it or not … ?

I’ve got a meeting, today: with my case worker from The Shaw Trust.

At ten.

Hopefully?

He’ll have found something I can apply to!

At eleven … ?

I’ve got the training course the Job Centre’s put me on.

Forty minutes of Zooming fun, in other words.

Which reminds me: once I’ve done the next batch of Teaser videos, I really need to do the next bit of That Health and Safety course: you never know when that’s useful …
