Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 2nd October 2025.

2nd October, 2025.

Right …

It’s officially Thursday.

And … ?

It’s going to be a quiet day with little to do.

Bar picking up some bits from the pharmacists.

Test strips for the blood sugar monitor I’ve got.

With Christmas coming up … ?

I’m reminded of something my Aunty Bella used to do, at this time of year.

She use to collect empty pots: empty film roll pots, the ones you’d keep still camera film, in … and fill them with pound coins she could give away as Christmas gifts.

She’s usually wrap them in Christmas paper: so the pots would resemble crackers.

The things would usually only have £10 or so in them: depending on what coins she put in.

But they were handy amounts of cash, amounts that could, if nothing else, be used to do some light shopping.

They were stocking fillers, in other words.

What struck me, the last time I was in the chemists?

Was that the pots that held the test strips were a similar size to the film roll pots.

And that Christmas is closer than we imagine.

Thank you, Aunty Bella …

Let’s move on.

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Mum*, Olga†, Irene ‡ and Debbi§ putting in their answers: with Olga, Irene and Mum scoring five out of five, and Debbi on four.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video.

Q1)        Avery Brooks was born on 2nd October, 1948.   He played Captain Ben Sisko in which Star Trek series?

Avery Brooks, born 2nd October, 1948.
And a song …

The next ten question set is on 24th October: it’s about Zambia

Your comments will be published, tomorrow morning.

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Decisions about scores are final.

Thank you for coming: have a good day.

*        Hello, Mum!

Yes, it went well enough, Olga.   Although I’ve been lumbered with another event, and the associated bus fare.   Ho hum … !
        Their British soul … ?   Hmmm … !
Ruth said “Thank You”, by the way.   How ARE you with chocolate cake?   I think she had a bit, left over … !

Morning, Irene: how IS the day … ?

§        The text for the essay is here, Debbi: it’s a fascinating read.   Oh, and there’s an online Gerry Anderson store, one that does the Thunderbirds bluray box sets.
The price is in sterling, I don’t know if they ship to the UK, and I believe they’d be region-locked.   You MAY be able to buy copies and rip them: given the right kit.   (A quick check tells me the price in sterling is roughly equivalent to $120.   I’ve ALSO looked the box set up on Amazon.   It’s listed as being multi-region: so, if you did buy it, it would play in any kit you had there.   Given the right software …)
