1st February, 2026.
Right … it’s a quiet Sunday morning …
And … ?
I’m expecting it to stay quiet.
Here’s hoping!

I’ve been doing a little research, after finding out that the newly updated versions of Pages*, Keynote and Number were available.
Complete with premium options connected to Apple’s Creator Studio suite.
It turns out that I don’t need a subscription for the iWork suite.
I just need the subscription for the premium content, premium content that includes extra templates and AI features.
It’s a shame in one sense: those templates look good, and would add variety to some of my presentations.
And using this updated version of Pages seems to be causing less overheating, when used with multiple Safari tabs.
The subscription would included access to Final Cut Pro.
The software’s a step up from iMovie, and better optimised for the Mac platform than the free version of DaVinci Resolve†, which I also use.
I feel a little mixed about that.
But can at least say I’m not spending more money …
Let’s move on.
Yesterday’s Teaser saw Mum‡, Olga§ and Debbi¶ putting in their answers: with everyone scoring five out of five.
Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?
Q1) 1st February is Heroes Day. Where: the Republic of the Congo, Réunion or Rwanda?Q2) Ayatollah Khomeini returned to his home country: on 1st February, 1979. What was the nation: Iran, Iraq or Jordan?Q3) In a non-leap year, 1st February is which day of the year: the thirty first, thirty second or thirty third?Q4) Edward of Windsor was crowned as King of England: on 1st February, 1327. What was his name, as king: Edward 2nd, Edward 3rd or Tuesday 4th?Q5) Finally … ? Director, George Pal, was born on 1st February, 1908. In what’s now where: Hungary, Austria or Romania?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …
Q1) Three Sisters debuted on 31st January, 1901. Who wrote Three Sisters: Anton Chekov, Victor Denisov or Maxim Gorky?Q2) Three Sisters made its debut in which country: Russia, Germany or France?A2) Russia.Q3) Three Sisters made its debut in which city: Moscow, Berlin or Paris?A3) Moscow.Q4) It first aired in a what: theatre, cinema or opera house?Q5) Finally … ? What is Three Sisters: a play, an opera or a film?A5) A play.
Here’s a thought …
“My father could never get it through his head that acting was honorable work for a man. Even when I was making $7,500 a week, he stubbornly kept saying, ‘What kind of a job is that for a fellow six feet tall, weighs 195 pounds?’” Clark Gable, 1 February 1901 - 16 November 1960.
And a Gershwin song performed by Normie Rowe
The next ten question set is on 4th February: it’s about the Aldous Huxley novel, Brave New World.
Your comments, and today’s answers, will be published in tomorrow’s Teaser.
AI is avoided when writing these questions.
Answers are as accurate as possible: at the time of writing.
Decisions about scores are final.
Thank you for coming: have a good day.
* The only BIG complaint … ? Is that the Menu Bar in the new version of Pages is … overcrowded. (The file’s title is now on the right hand side of the menu bar: rather than in the middle. Fiddlier for me to access, in other words.)
† The free version of DaVinci resolve has a lot more features than iMovie: and handles transitions differently. But it has — had? — a steeper learning curve.
That said? It has made me realise exactly how much work iMovie is doing, and how easy it is for a beginner to use. Black Magic, the people who make DaVinci, could possibly learn a thing or two.
‡ Hello, Mum!
§ You’re right, Olga, that does sound lucky! And makes you the only person I know with a lucky play. Everyone else has lucky objects! (Yesterday’s quote was from your name-sake, so you know!)
About the only subscriptions I do pay for? Are for some iCloud storage for my media files: and for one to Apple’s Arcade service. I felt online storage would be handy, after my iMac collapsed, a few years ago: and the sillier games on Arcade give me something interactive to do.
So I’m not the only one having issues, Olga? I’m not surprised: especially given your friend’s been behaving the same way I have. I can only assume X has suspended them for similar reasons: I can only assume X will be hard for people with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, or autism.
Bluesky’s handy. OK, there’s a few things it could be doing better, there’s no way of scheduling posts … but there’s no Elon!
¶ Yeah: they seem to be popular, Debbi!
Funny old thing, Debbi: there’s been an Anton Chekov in Star Trek. The character made a brief, voice only, appearance in an episode of Star Trek: Picard, is the son of Pavel and played by Walter Koenig.
He’s mentioned, here …
