Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 12th October 2026.

12th October, 2026.

Right … it’s nowhere near Thursday.

Last Thursday, or next Thursday, so you know.

But it is Monday.

Which means that I’m off to my weight management meeting, again.

Two weeks ago?   My weight had gone up to one hundred kilos.

Last week?

It had stayed at one hundred kilos: it hadn’t, thankfully, gone up, but also hadn’t gone down.

Hopefully?

Hopefully, this week, I’d’ve lost something.

Bar, as ever, my wits, mind, senses or sense of decency!

Heigh Ho … !

Just in case it’s interesting?

The new Rogue Trooper movie has been released to cinemas: but not yet to streaming.

I mention it as it’s something I’d like to see: I can remember the original 2000AD strip with a lot of affection.

But, given cinema prices?

I’m happy to wait for a streaming release.

Let’s move on.

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Mum* and Debbi† putting in their answers: with Debbi scoring five out of five, and Mum on four.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video.

Q1)        First Man made its US debut on 12th October, 2018.   It’s a biopic about which astronaut?

Q2)        Desmond Doss was awarded the US Medal of Honor: on 12th October, 1945.   He was the first what to do so: conscientious objector, Native American or African American?

Q3)        12th October is the International Day against DRM.   DRM, in this case, stands for Digital what Management?

Q4)        12th October is Hafez Day.   Where: Iran, Iraq or Israel?

Q5)        Finally … ?   12th October is the Feast Day of Saint Wilfrid of Ripon.   The Ripon in question is where: North Yorkshire, South Yorkshire or East Lancashire?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1)        A search of Loch Ness ended on 11th October, 1987.   What did the search fail to find?
A1)        The Loch Ness Monster, or Nessie.

Q2)        11th October is the feast day of Saint Gummarus of Lier.   Where is Lier: Belgium, France or Luxembourg?
A2)        Belgium.

Q3)        11th October is the feast day of Saint Gummarus of Lier.   He’s the patron saint of whom: glove-makers, cheese-wrights or butchers?
A3)        Glove-makers.

Q4)        11th October is the Day of the Macedonian Uprising.   It’s a public holiday, where: North Macedonia or Greek Macedonia?
A4)        North Macedonia.

Q5)        Finally … ?   11th October is General Pulaski Memorial Day.   Where: the USA, Poland or France?
A5)        The USA.
Here’s a thought …
“Christianity has done a great deal for love by making it a sin.”
From Le Jardin d'Épicure by Anatole France, 16 April 1844 – 12 October 1924.
And a song …

The next ten question sets are on 27th October, and 8th and 10th November: they’re about Godzilla, Monty Python’s Life of Brian and All Quiet on the Western Front.

The next twelve question set is on 16th October: it’s about The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.

Your comments, and today’s answers, will be published in tomorrow’s Teaser.

AI is avoided when writing these questions.

Answers are as accurate as possible: at the time of writing.

Decisions about scores are final.

Thank you for coming: have a good day.

*        Hello, Mum!   (General Pulaski’s marked in the US, Mum, rather than Poland: he organised the US Cavalry in the American Revolution.)

†        Did I mention I met Chris Boucher at a convention, Debbi?   Many years ago!   A point he made about Dr Who applies to Star Trek, I think.   The fact both shows had gone on for so long … helped to keep them going for so long …
OK, that seems a very circular argument, looking back, but it made sense at the time.

  2. They do gain a certain momentum over time. Until the audience tires of whatever they're up to.

Some shows simply run out of story to tell. These guys keep generating new ideas. That helps.

Are they generating new ideas or regenerating old ones? :)

I love it when people comment. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?

I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.

Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively adult. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.

Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.

If you can also leave you comments on today’s Teaser Video, that would be good.

Thank you.
