Did I tell you it was my kid sister, Ruth’s birthday, this week … ?

It was.

And inevitably, we had the vaguely celebratory family do, in a little place in Writtle.

Which was rather nice, it had to be said.

Me and my nephew, Jude, though … ?   Got a touch bored, and managed to sneak out.

Writtle’s sort of nice, like that.

The actual teashop had plenty of places for a (almost) three-year-old to explore.   And a huge village green to run around on.

Although it HAS to be said, I think Jude was more interested in counting the passing cars … and watching the ducks on the pond.
