Right …
If you’ve been following me for a while, you’re very aware I’m trying to lose weight.
It’s something I’ve struggled to do for many years.
So … ?
I tend to be interested when something about weight-management crops up on the news.
Medications, lack of medications, what have you.
Today … ?
The Today programme tells us that research at Cambridge University has shown there’s a gene that affects the brains signals that tell us we’ve eaten enough.
And that we share this gene … with labradors.
It’s an interesting bit of science to know.
But I’m tempted — as I was in today’s intro video — to tell you I feel ruff … ruff ruff … ruff ruff ruff … bark … whine … woof … !

The most senior envoy from New Zealand, to the UK, was fired, yesterday.
As … ?
He’d apparently said the US president’s knowledge of history was flawed: and pointed out that — in his view — the President had never heard of Sudentenland.
The area in what had been Czechoslovakia that had a high number of German speakers: and was annexed by Germany’s Nazi regime, and led to Neville Chamberlain’s “Peace in our time” speech.
A speech that told us Germany had no more territorial claims.
A speech made less than a year before the German invasion of Poland.
A speech that, given that invasion, was deeply unwise.
Given that … ?
I think the President of the USA is going to look like the former PM …
And that New Zealand’s envoy had a point!
Let’s move on.
Yesterday’s Teaser saw Mum*, Olga†, Irene‡ and Debbi§ putting in their answers: with Mum, Olga and Debbi scoring five out of five, and Irene on four.
Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

“I feel proud to have turned that down. I wish I could remember what it was. Let’s say Hamlet. Yeah, I turned down Hamlet. Well who fucking wouldn’t? I mean how many gags are there in that?”Rik Mayall, 7 March 1958 – 9 June 2014.
And a poem …
The next ten question set is on 14th March: it’s about Michael Caine.
Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.
Decisions about scores are final.
Thank you for coming: have a good day.
* Hello, Mum¶!
† Oh, VERY true, Olga¶! I’ve got the old Mac mini — the one you, Debbi and Mum helped me get — on Facebook Marketplace. It took half an hour for a suspiciously new Facebook member to turn up, and make an offer. Then there’s the chancers …
Oh, I know the phone calls I get, these days. They’re usually from ‘Visa Security’, and want to talk about suspicious payments: or they’re from the ‘Microsoft Technical Department.’ They’re still get snotty when I say I’ve got a Mac, it’s great fun.
‡ Morning, Irene¶: how IS the day? (Oh, it was Angola, rather than Somalia.)
§ Do you mean when he regenerated into Tom Baker, Debbi¶? That’s season ten, off the top of my head. Season seven is at the start of his era: after the switch from Patrick Troughton. It’s these stories, with Liz Shaw:
- Spearhead from Space.
- Doctor Who and the Silurians.
- The Ambassadors of Death.
- Inferno.
¶ Could anyone share this Facebook Marketplace link, please? It would be a HUGE help!!!!!!!

Yes, you get some of the classics. It's a shame about the New Zealand envoi. It seems those who lie are getting promoted and those who tell the truth get punished or at least shut down. Shame...
1. Argentinean
2. Iran
3. NATO
4. Bangladesh
5. Nerve Antonine dynasty
I remember Liz Shaw. She was a great companion. Very smart.
