Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 17th November 2025.

17th November, 2025.

It’s official: it’s Monday morning.

And … ?

It’s off to my weight management class I go.

And, given the weather forecast’s told me it’s going to be cold?

I had a look at the weather forecast for today.

I think I’m going to need a jumper …

~≈🥶≈~

I have to admit, I watch stuff on Youtube.

Granted, there’s only so many talking heads I can watch … but one video caught my eye, last night.

This one.

That tells how many people have taken to video piracy in the wake of a splintered streaming market.

How — given streaming services are becoming ever more fractured, and expensive — people are turning to other ways of watching content.

And how, given how streaming sites are removing content, many pirates see themselves are archivists, as a result.

Personally?

I can’t say I was surprised by what the video was telling me: especially the bit that says many pirates see themselves as archivists.

Given that An Unearthly Child, the first Doctor Who story, is still not available on iPlayer?

That there’s few other ways of watching these shows, other than pirate copies?

Are you surprised?

Let’s move on.

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Mum* and Debbi† putting in their answers: with Debbi scoring five out of five, and Mum scoring four.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video.

Q1)        17th November is the Anglican feast day of Hugh of Lincoln.   According to his Wikipedia entry, he’s the patron saint of whom: butchers, cobblers or draymen?

Q2)        17th November is Presidents’ Day.   Where: Russia, the Marshall Islands or Jamaica?

Q3)        The Tartu Art Museum was established on 17th November, 1940: in the city of Tartu.   City and museum are in which country: Estonia, Latvia or Lithuania?

Q4)        Tourists were killed on 17th November, 1997: in the ruined temples of Luxor.   Where is Luxor: Egypt, Sudan or Eritrea?

Q5)        Finally … ?   The Revolutionary Organization 17 November were a Marxist group that operated where: Albania, Greece or Turkey?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1)        Eddie Chapman was born on 16th November, 1914.   He was a double agent during which war: World War Two, the Korean War or the Falklands War?
A1)        World War Two.   (He was one of our double agents, rather than one of theirs.)

Q2)        Salvatore Riina was born on 16th November, 1930.   He’d been a senior figure in what: the Sicilian Mafia, the Japanese Yakuza or the Bestwood Cartel?
A2)        The Sicilian Mafia.

Q3)        The Arecibo Message was broadcast to space on 16th November, 1974: and aimed towards M13.   M13 is a what: black hole, galaxy or supernova?
A3)        Galaxy.

Q4)        The then Prime Minister, Margaret Thatcher, named the Fourth Man, the fourth member of the Cambridge Spy Ring, on 16th November, 1979.   Who was that Fourth Man: Anthony Blunt, Kim Philby, Donald Maclean or Guy Burgess?
A4)        Anthony Blunt.   (A fifth member, John Cairncross, was named in 1990.)

Q5)        Finally … ?   STS-129 was launched on 16th November, 2009: on route to the International Space Station.   STS-129 was on which Space Shuttle: the Atlantis, Challenger or Endeavour?
A5)        The Atlantis.
Here’s a thought …
“Someone asked me once what my philosophy of life was, and I said some crazy thing. I should have said, how the hell do I know?”
Rock Hudson, November 17, 1925 – October 2, 1985.
A song …

And an earworm …

The next ten question set is on 5th December: it’s about The Great Smog!

Your comments will be published, tomorrow morning.

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

AI is avoided, when writing these questions.

Answers are as accurate as possible: at the time of writing.

Decisions about scores are final.

Thank you for coming: have a good day.

*        Hello, Mum!   (M13’s a Galaxy, Mum, rather than a supernova.)

†        I would kill for a copy of Final Cut, Debbi!   But that’s £300 … !   (I would’ve got it when I got the new mini: but had to spend the extra money on a new washing machine.)
Either way … ?   Well done on the initial edit!   (Just as a thought … ?   You might want to keep hold of that.   Rough cuts, and work prints, make for good Blu-ray extras.)

I hope the meeting goes well, Paul. I have a bit of a week, as although I don't have a class with Jordi today, because he's away, I have to cover two news items for the radio and I have to go to the radio station to edit the one about the music fair as well, so a lot of running around and writing news.
I hope all goes well, and I'll see if I can catch up a teaser or two in a quiet moment. But I thought I'd say hello. Take care.
