The Daily Teaser — 10-5-2013: Rock And Roll

Oh, good LORD, that’s better … !

Remember me saying — only yesterday — about having a really bad night’s sleep … ?

Lordy, that was bad: I’m sort of glad I am out of work, I would’ve had to either phone in sick, or go in … and get sent home.

It really wasn’t good.

Thankfully, I managed to get some sleep in the middle of the day: AND drink lot’s of water.   That’s USUALLY the one guaranteed way to deal with short term kidney infections, which is what I think I managed to pick up.

And hopefully dealt with, for now!

Now …

Let’s get moving on, shall we … ?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw both Debbi* and newcomer† Terrance putting in their answers.   With Debbi scoring six out of, and Terrence bagging four, it also saw Debbi wishing me well, and Terrance admitting he was a little unsure about one answers.

Let’s see how they — and you — do with today’s themed questions.   Here they are, along with the ‘How To’, License and video …

Q1) 10th May, 1954, saw Bill Haley release what became the world’s first rock and roll Number 1: what was it called … ?
Q2) What’s the first line of the song … ?
Q3) According to the song, if the band slows down, we’re … ?
Q4) What was the full name of Bill Haley’s band … ?
Q5) As of 2008, how many versions of the band now claim to be the originals … ?
Q6) Back to the record, again: the ‘B’ side was called Thirteen … what … ?
Q7) Bill Haley — and the band — had their first US hit with ‘Crazy, Man, Crazy’: in which year of the 1950s … ?
Q8) What was the band’s follow-up to their first number one called … ?
Q9) Bill and the band also — famously — said ‘See You Later …’ to who … ?
Q10) And finally … In which year of the 1970s did Haley last play in the UK … ?
And here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …
Q1) 9th May, 1956, saw British PM, Sir Anthony Eden refuse to reveal details about a missing Naval frogman.   The diver had gone missing when the leaders of which country visited the UK … ?
A1) The Soviet Union.
Q2) More to the point, the diver in question is supposed to have been sent on a mission: by which organisation … ?
A2) Britain’s Secret Intelligence Service: otherwise known, of course, as MI6.
Q3) 9th May, 1974, saw the Judiciary Committee of the US House Of Representatives begin it’s impeachment proceedings: against whom … ?
A3) President Richard Nixon.
Q4) 9th May, 1955, saw West Germany join NATO.   What does NATO stand for … ?
A4) North Atlantic Treaty Organisation.
Q5) 9th May, 1147, saw the birth of Minamoto no Yoritomo, the first Kamakura Shogun.   The Shogun were military rulers of which country … ?
A5) Japan.
Q6) And finally … 9th May, 1860, saw the birth of Peter Pan’s creator, J. M. Barrie.   What did the J. M. stand for … ?
A6) James Matthew.
I’ll leave you with this quote from a certain Mr Haley …
“I sat down one night and wrote the line rock, rock, rock everybody.”
Bill Haley.
And with this tune … !

Enjoy your day …

*        Oh, I’m starting to feel better already, Debbi!   Hopefully, lot’s of sleep and tap water helped.   (Funny old thing, an old friend told me, many years ago, that drinking lots of water was a good idea.   Her father had sadly died of Cancer, a few weeks before, but his consultant had told her that drinking lots of water helped: it helped most of the drugs — and I’m told chemotherapy drugs are some of  more powerful ones on the planet — through and out of the system.)

†         Welcome aboard, Terrence!   Oh, I’ve got Comment Moderation turned on, so you know:  that’s why your answers didn’t show up.   (Oh, about the presentations … ?   As I think Debbi will possibly mention, I’m a bit of a Mac fans: so I do the initial slideshows with Keynote, export them to movie files, then use iMovie to add the vocals and trim them down to size.   Quite how to do that under Windows, I’m not sure: although I’d assume Powerpoint has some similar capacities.)
