The Daily Teaser — 15-5-2013

Oh, hang on.

It sounds like the balloon’s gone up.

I don’t know how closely you follow the UK news, here in the UK, but I usually have Radio 4, at this time of the morning.

Both they, and the BBC’s news channel, have reported that EU competition regulators have raided roughly four different oil companies.

Now that sounds like it’s good for drivers: although this could take a while.

What’s going to grab the attention of a lot of motorists in the UK, is that the UK’s Office of Fair Trading did a (fairly short) investigation that ended in January: and basically said things were fine.

Hmmm …

Petrol prices … what’s the betting this is going to cause MAJOR ructions … ?

Let’s move on, shall we … ?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw both Debbi* and Terrence† putting in their answers: with Terrence offering us this, in the on-going Sax Discussion, and Debbi putting up this post, and telling us her screen play’s coming along, ALSO saw both our players scoring six out of six.

Let’s see how they — and you — do with today’s questions, shall we … ?   Here they are, along with the ‘How To’, License and video …

Enjoy those: I’ll leave you with this thought from the late former Mayor of Chicago, Richard J. Daley …
“They have vilified me, they have crucified me; yes, they have even criticized me.”
Richard J. Daley May 15, 1902 – December 20, 1976
And … Well, did you know today’s the birthday of producer, Roxy Music member and father of Ambient music, Brian Eno?   You notice I said producer … ?   One of the early acts he did some production work for the orchestra who are, arguably, the worst on the planet: here, turn down the volume …

We’ll have his Music For Airports, as well, shall we?   Just to get over the Horror … !

Have a good day …

*        I’ll be looking forward to that, Debbi!   AND keeping my fingers crossed for you.   (Oh, you might want to check out Zero History, before Spook Country.)

†        Bless him, Terrence, George could always come up with a pop-tune, couldn’t he … ?   Saying that … ?   I’ve had the classic sax riff from this earworming it’s way through my head all morning …

Actually, Debbi, just as a thought … ?

I think I mentioned Burning Chrome to you at some point, which I’d suggest checking out: the title short story’s fantastic, Johnny Mnemonic is a LOT better than the film …

And then there’s Hinterlands.

Phew … !

Hello Paul.

George Michael certainly did have some catchy songs. King Curtis had the sax solo in "Yakety Yak."

I was in band in school. That is probably a part of the reason why I noticed or appreciated some of the playing in the songs. I can certainly appreciate vocals as well.

I will most likely not have the chance to participate in the quizzes for a while. It has been enlightening. But these will be my last responses for a while. I am not sure when I may have the chance to participate again. Be well.

1) Massachusetts
2) Las Vegas
3) Nevada
4) Christmas Island is in the Indian Ocean
5) Covent Garden
6) Moscow Metro
