The Daily Teaser — 13-2-2015: Heavy Metal … !

Did I tell you about my nephew, Jude … ?

Bless him, he’s four: and turning out to have something of a personality.

My sister, Ruth, and I were at a little cafe in Brentwood, yesterday.   Nice place, called Mannings.

According to Jude?

Their apple juice is hilarious.

His word!   ‘Hilarious’ … !

Lord knows, where he picked that one up: or quite what put him into juice critic mode, I don’t know.   But there you go!

Either way … ?   Either way, I think taking Ruth and Jude into Brentwood’s branch of Maplins — to show Ruth the Raspberry Pi — was possibly a mistake.

Colourful hobbyist circuit boards — alike the Arduino boards and DIY robot kits Maplins sell — are very appealing, when you’re four.

We had ten minutes of “Mummy, can I have this?”, and “Mummy, can I have that?”.

Bless … !

But let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Debbi* putting in her answers: and scoring nine out of ten.

Let’s see how everyone does answering today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How ToLicense and video

Q1) 13th February, 1970 saw the release of the world’s first Heavy Metal album: what was it called?
Q2) More to the point, what was the name of the band that released it?
Q3) Equally to the point, the LP was released on which day of the week?
Q4) That band’s lead singer went on to have a solo career: AND a successful reality TV show.   Called what?
Q5) This band’s first Top Ten single reached No. 4 in the UK charts.   What was it called?
Q6) Moving on, slightly … which very heavy band had a UK hit with Whole Lotta Love: Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin or Motörhead?
Q7) Which Finnish Heavy Metal band famously won Eurovision, with Hard Rock Hallelujah?
Q8) In which year was that win?
Q9) Which English heavy metal band were famously accused of causing a pair of suicides with ‘subliminal messages’: Judas Priest, Deep Purple or Iron Maiden?
Q10) Finally … which heavy metal has the atomic number, 92?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …
Q1) 12th February sees Christian Dior introduce his New Look range.   In which year of the 1940s?
A1) 1947.

Q5) More to the point, which Italian born, French designer, worked on Dior’s perfumes?

Q10) Finally … In which year of the 1950s did Christian Dior die?
A10) 1957.
I’ll leave you with this thought …
“The idea of a band nowadays is 5 pretty boys, one with a tattoo, one with a shaved head, and on and on. What the fuck is that? I mean, I like Britney Spears, I think she’s pretty, but I’m not from the Mickey Mouse Club-I’m from the Godzilla Club!”

The band’s lead singer, on modern music.
And this tune …

Given today also marks the death of Visage frontman, and seminal nightclub host, Steve Strange, this song …

Have a good day.

*        Well, as it’s you, Debbi† … ! :D

†        I have to admit, Debbi: for today’s poster — at the top of the page — I lifted a copy of the poster for the movie, Heavy Metal, loosely based on a US reprint of seminal French magazine, Metal Hurlant.   Wish I’d learnt French: the covers I saw were always interesting …
