Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 28th April, 2021.

28th April, 2021.

Did I mention I have an iffy knee?

It is — I’m told — a touch of osteoarthritis: so I’ve got a set of exercises to do.

Yes, before you ask: I was mildly sceptical; but these do seem to help, somewhat.

Whether they’ll make any difference to my weight?

We’ll have to see!

~≈🚴‍♂️≈~

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga*, TrevorMum‡, Debbi^ and Edithª putting in their answers: with Olga and Trevor scoring five out of five, Debbi on four, and Mum and Edith on two.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video …

Q1)        Graham Wagg was born on 28th April, 1983.   He’s played what for Glamorgan: rounders, baseball or cricket?

Q2)        28th April, 1974, saw the birth of actress, Penélope Cruz.   She appeared in the 1997 film, Live Flesh/Carne trémula. Who directed Live Flesh?

Q3)        Andreas Baader, Gudrun Ensslin and Jan-Carl Raspe were found guilty of four murders: on 28th April, 1977.   The killers were members of what: the Stern Gang, the Red Army Faction or the Provisional Monster Raving Loony Party?

Q4)        28th April, AD 32, saw the birth of Emperor Otho. He was the second of four Roman Emperors in the Year of the Four Emperors.   What year was that: AD67, AD68 or AD69?

Q5)        Finally … ?   28th April, 1948, saw the birth of Sir Terry Pratchett.   His first adult novel was published in 1976: and called The Dark Side of thewhat?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1)        27th April is the Day of Russian Parliamentarianism.   The Russian Parliament is what: the Duma, Federal Assembly or Congress?
A1)        The Federal Assembly.

Q2)        27th April is also Independence Day in Sierra Leone. Sierra Leone is on which continent:   Africa, Asia or Antarctica?
A2)        Africa.

Q3)        27th is Independence Day in Togo. Togo is on which continent: Africa, Asia or Europe?
A3)        Africa.   It’s a big continent …

Q4)        Betty Boothroyd was elected Speaker of the House of Commons, on 27th April of which year: 1991, 1992 or 1993?
A4)        1992.

Q5)        Finally? 27th April, 1822, saw the birth of the 18th President of the USA.   Who was he: Andrew Johnson, Ulysses S. Grant or Rutherford B. Hayes?
A5)        Ulysses S. Grant.
Here’s a thought …
“I reckon that Stonehenge was build by the contemporary equivalent of Microsoft, whereas Avebury was definitely an Apple circle.”
Sir Terry Pratchett, 28 April 1948 – 12 March 2015.
And a song …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Feel free to share today’s video Teaser.

Have a good day.

*        Wikipedia’s the bane of a quiz writers life, Olga: and possibly their biggest asset!   So long as you keep an eye on the edits!   (Trevor’s mentioned the occasional change in format, as well.)
But, yes: the Chernobyl disaster was a mess.   I came away from the TV series — and the bits of reading I’d done on the event — thinking so much of it could have been avoided.   But that firefighter’s death … ? Seemed symbolic of the whole thing.   We can at least be thankful that DNA damage hasn’t been passed to survivors’ children.
I can only hope everyone’s learnt from it: and that the plants at Sellafield don’t go up in a similar way.

†        Yeah: they keep changing them, Trevor?   I prefer the usual format: it’s easier to scroll through.   And you’ve reminded me to keep an eye peeled on the station car park: the boot sales there used to be quite good.

‡        Hello, Mum!

^        Yeah: people keep mentioning that, Debbi!

ª        Oh, blimey, Sheena Easton!   I’ve not seen something of hers for years, Edith!   Did you know she got her start on a show called The Big Time?   It was a cross between a documentary and a reality TV show.   And her episode’s on YouTube!

Q4) AD69

Q5) Sun
Oh, Anna sent me a message telling me she thought her English test had gone very well. Fingers crossed she is right! There is one more unit left and a few more exams until the end of the course, but I hope she does well overall.
Keep up with the exercises. I'm pleased you feel some improvement. Diet is much more important for weight loss than exercise, as you know, but exercise has many benefits not only for physical but also for mental health, so it's definitely worth persevering with.

That’s a thought, Olga, as we’ve mentioned Chernobyl … have I mentioned that one of my favourite authors was a press officer for Calder Hall power station?

Bloody predictive text in Libre office wanted to turn Sun into Sunday. It is getting near to the time that this carcase of mine will have completed it’s 73rd orbit of the Sun.
