19th May, 2025: the Commonwealth.
It’s officially official: I’m knackered.
But that’s what you get, when you’re up early on a Monday morning!
At any rate … ?
I’m off to my weight management group, today.
Hopefully, I’d’ve lost weight.
~≈🏋️≈~
As an up side … ?
I’ve finally manage to get my video review of “The Interstellar Song Contest” finished.
Granted: I think my whole chain of thought — on the poppy front — could well be wrong: I’ve been reminded that the little girl seen in “The Story and the Engine” was a version of Captain Poppy, from “Space Babies”.
And … ?
Well …
Feel free to leave me a comment!
Let’s move on.
Yesterday’s Teaser saw Mum*, Olga† and Debbi‡ putting in their answers: with everyone scoring five out of five.
Let’s see how everyone does with today’s five question set, shall we?
Q1) 19th May saw England named as a Commonwealth. 19th May of which year: 1649, 1651 or 1653?Q2) The relevant Act of Parliament was enacted by the English parliament then known as what: the Rump Parliament, Sirloin Parliament or Brisket Parliament?Q3) The Commonwealth saw the execution of the former king of England. Who was that king? (There were a few with the same name: so we want name and number.)Q4) From 1653, the Commonwealth was led by Oliver Cromwell. In other words, by the Lord … what?Q5) Finally … ? The Commonwealth was a what: republic, or monarchy?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …
Q1) 18th May saw Tonga named as a protectorate. On 18th May of which year: 1900, 1902 or 1904?A1) 1900.Q2) It was a protectorate of where: the UK, Germany or France?A2) The UK.Q3) The country is where: the southern Pacific, northern Pacific or northern Atlantic?Q4) The country has some one hundred and seventy-one islands. Roughly how many are inhabited: thirty-five, forty-five or fifty-five?Q5) Finally … ? Tonga has a state religion: true or false?A5) False: although the country has a Wesleyan pastor who performs coronations.
Here’s a thought …
“The Commonwealth period is better remembered for the military success of Thomas Fairfax, Oliver Cromwell, and the New Model Army.”From the Wikipedia entry on the Commonwealth.
And a video …
The next ten question set will be on 28th May: it’s about the Old Firm!
Comments and answers will be published tomorrow morning.
Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.
Decisions about scores are final.
Thank you for coming: have a good day.
