The Daily Teaser — 4-2-2013: Snow Who … ?

Just as a thought, folks … ?

Just as a thought, you might want to have a read of this article, on the BBC’s news site.

To summarise, quickly, it seems malign hackers in Germany have come up with with software that opens a pop-up window on your machine: one that threatens to lock your pc, unless you pay a fine.

Seemingly, it’s what’s called ransomware: for obvious reasons.

The reason I mention it … ?   Is because an old friend of mine gave me a call on Saturday.   It turns out her brother’s machine got hit, the day before.   The advise I gave her was my usual: give the laptop a clean re-install.   Or buy one of these.   If you do manage to find an alternative … ?   Please feel free to leave me a comment, if you’ve got an alternative.

Let’s move on, shall we … ?   Yes, let’s … !
