The Daily Teaser — 9/2/2013: The Day The Music Died

Hmmm …

You know, I have to admit, I’ve had just enough in my iTunes account to rent a movie last night.

The ONE problem with that, of course … ?

Is that I couldn’t, for the life of me, figure out what to watch!

Either I’m getting old … Or there’s getting to be nothing to watch on a Saturday night … !

Still … At least I know the iTunes store has a copy of Fritz Lang’s Metropolis, something I’ve never actually seen: I might just have to rectify that, at some point …

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yes, let’s …

~~~~~
Yesterday’s Teaser saw Debbi* putting in her answers: along with admitting she’s thinking of a few questions, herself, and that Change is a’comin’ in, she ALSO bagged 6 out of 6.
Let’s see how she — and you — do with today’s questions.   Here they are, along with the ‘How To’, License and video …
Q1) 3rd February, 1959, was the day the music died: name any of the three rock and roll stars who died in that famous plane crash.
Q2) Who was the youngest of those stars … ?
Q3) How old was he … ?
Q4) One of the stars had a hit with Chantilly Lace: which country does Chantilly lace come from … ?
Q5) Which of the stars was one of the earliest to both write and sing his own material … ?
Q6) Which of that star’s songs was taken to number 3 in the UK charts, by the Rolling Stones … ?
Q7) And finally … what was the name of the Don MacLean song that includes the line ‘The Day The Music Died’ … ?
And here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …
Q1) 2nd February, 2013 is a Saturday: its Latin name, dies Saturni, associates the day with which planet … ?
A1) Saturn.
Q2) Which of the world’s three monotheist religions sees Saturdays as its holy day … ?
A2) Judaism: it’s the Sabbath, of course.
Q3) Many Scandinavian words for Saturday are variations of lørdag: meaning what day … ?
A3) Bath — or wash — day.
Q4) The French name for Saturday — Samedi — is also the name of a spirit in which religion … ?
A4) Voodoo.
Q5) More to the point, in which James Bond film does that spirit appear … ?
A5) Live and Let Die.
Q6) And finally … according to the old nursery rhyme, what does Saturday’s child do … ?
A6) Work hard, for a living.
I’ll leave you with this mild clue …
And this quote …
“I only needed specs for reading, but as a result of wearing them all the time to try to look like Buddy Holly, I became genuinely nearsighted.”
Elton John.
Enjoy the day …
*        Good luck with THAT, Debbi: trust me, it’s one heck of a job … !   (Actually, I’ve a whole spreadsheet of questions that never gets off my computer.   It’s in .ods format, and LONG since gone past the size of the old floppy disc it was originally stored on.)
