The Daily Teaser — 29-11-2014: C. S. Lewis

You know, I really am going to have to learn to replace my stick, every-so-often.

My flash memory stick, I should add at this point.

I’ve got a couple of 16GB ones: ones I use for recording programmes on my TV.

And wouldn’t you know it?   I forgot to take an (almost) full one out, last night, and replace it with the empty one.

Right now … ?   Right now I’m glad what I was recording, is on iPlayer.

That documentary about the Marshall amp is fascinating stuff … !

But let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Debbi* putting in her answers: and scoring three out of five.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s themed questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How ToLicense and video …

Q1) 29th November saw the birth of author, C. S. Lewis: in which year of the 1890s?
Q2) What did the C stand for?
Q3) His series of children’s novel set in a mythical country were collectively called The Chronicles of … where?
Q4) The first (published) book in the series was ‘The Lion, The Witch and the … ’ what?
Q5) What’s the title of the first book of the Chronicles: if you read them in chronological order.   (In the chronological order of the Chronicles own fictional world, I should add.)

Q9) Lewis was part pf an informal group of academics who called themselves The Inklings.   One other famous Inkling was the author of The Hobbit: who was he?
Q10) Finally … Lewis’ American wife, Joy, died of cancer in 1960.   What was the name of the 1993 film about their marriage?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …
Q1) 28th November, 1979, saw an aircraft crash into Mount Erebus: killing all 257 people on board.   Mount Erebus is on which continent?

Q5) Finally … 28th November, 587, saw King Guntram recognise Childerbert 2nd as his heir.   As king of where: Aquitaine, Burgundy or the Auvergne?
A5) Burgundy.
I’ll leave you with this tune: included in an album recorded was a tribute to C. S. Lewis …

And with this thought …
“It may be hard for an egg to turn into a bird: it would be a jolly sight harder for it to learn to fly while remaining an egg. We are like eggs at present. And you cannot go on indefinitely being just an ordinary, decent egg. We must be hatched or go bad.”

C. S. Lewis, 29 November 1898 – 22 November 1963.
Have a good day … !
