The Daily Teaser — 10-3-2015

Bleugh … !

I have to admit to having had some thing of a late night, last night.

At work, believe it or not.

Through no deliberate fault of my own, I should add.

Believe it or not … ?

I was due off at 10·30.   Had finished off wiping down and cleaning the restaurant area, counted my till, and headed off …

And got home.

Only to realise I’d gone home … with the office keys.

Talk about an embarrassed pause … … …

At ANY rate … ?

At any rate, I managed the late night … because I’took the things back to work: and got there just before the place was due to shut.

Eventually getting to bed, by one, and asleep by two.

Right now … ?

Right now, I’m hoping you can understand WHY the bleugh … !

But let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Debbi* putting in her answers: and scoring five out of five.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How ToLicense and video

Q1) 10th March, 1977, saw rings discovered: around Uranus.   Uranus’s name is derived from that of the Greek god of what: the sky, Earth or sun?
Q2) 10th March, 1831, saw the establishment of the French Foreign Legion: by King Louis Philippe.   The regiment was founded in support of a French war in which North African country?
Q3) 10th March, 1903, saw the birth of Jazz man, Bix Beiderbecke.   Which brass instrument did he play: the trumpet, cornet or flugelhorn?
Q4) 10th March, 1862, saw the US issue its first paper currency.   What is the USA’s currency?
Q5) Finally … 10th March, 1940, saw the birth of martial artist, Chuck Norris.   His school of martial art — Chun kuk do — is based on one from where: Vietnam, Japan or Korea?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …
Q1) 9th March saw Gold discovered: in California.   In which year of the 1840s?
A1) 1842.
Q2) The strike was in what was called Rancho San Francisco.   Parts of the Rancho were in Ventura County, California.   Others are where: Kern County, Los Angeles County or Orange Country?
Q3) California’s famed Gold Rush was six years after this strike: and therefore in which year?
A3) 1848.
Q4) The gold was found after the man who originally found it — Francisco Lopez — dreamt about gold, whilst sleeping with his back to a tree.   What KIND of tree: an oak, pine or elm?
A4) An oak.   (It’s #168 on the list.)
Q5) Finally … the owners of the Rancho found what, in 1936?
A5) Oil.
I’ll leave you with this thought …
“Let me tell you this: If I was campaigning, and I go against my opponent and he started attacking my character, and I leap over the table and choke him unconscious, would that help my campaign?”

Chuck Norris, born 10th March, 1940.
And this song …

Enjoy your day …

*        We can never have too many towels, can we, Debbi†?

†         I’m also convinced Chuck Norris couldn’t drink two Pan-galactic gargle-blasters …
