The Daily Teaser — 15-3-2015

Hmmm …

You know, for a day where I have nothing to do … ?

For a day where I have nothing to do, I’ve actually got stuff — in theory — to do.

Well … I say stuff …

Mostly shopping.

But a few other bits, as well.

I don’t know about you, but I’m getting used to the idea of having fruit around …

~≈®≈~

But let’s get a move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw both Mr Strict* and Debbi† putting in their answers: and both scoring five out of five.

Let’s see how they — and you — do with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How ToLicense and video …

Q1) 15th March, 1892, saw the founding of Liverpool football club.   What colour is Liverpool’s home kit: red, blue or white?
Q2) More to the point, which UK football league are the team in?
Q3) 15th March, 1978, saw Somalia end its war: with which African nation?
Q4) 15th March, 1985, saw the first internet domain name registered: by a company called Symbolics.   Which US state was the company in?
Q5) 15th March, 1990, saw the first ever President of the Soviet Union, elected.   Who WAS that first President?
Q6) Finally … 15th March, 1974, saw John Poulson jailed: on corruption charges.   Was he a doctor, an architect or an accountant?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …
Q1) 14th March, 1647, saw ambassadors from Bavaria, France and Sweden sign the Treaty Of Ulm.   During what: the One Hundred Years War, the Thirty Years War or Six Day War?
A1) The One Hundred Years War.
Q2) 14th March, 1942, saw Anne Miller become the first patient in the US treated with what: an Iron Lung, penicillin or radiotherapy?
A2) Penicillin.
Q3) Which of Gilbert and Sullivan’s opera’s saw its debut on 14th March, 1885?
A3) The Mikado: or, the Town of Titipu.
Q4) Eli Whitney was granted the patent for the Cotton Gin: on 14th March, 1794.   The Gin separates cotton seed … from what?
A4) Fibre.
Q5) Finally … 14th March, 1900, saw the USA put its currency — the US dollar — onto the gold standard.   In this case, it meant $20·67c bought how much gold: ½ ounce, 1 ounce or 2 ounces?
A5) 1 troy ounce.
I’ll leave you with this thought …
“Anybody who comes to the cinema is bringing their whole sexual history, their literary history, their movie literacy, their culture, their language, their religion, whatever they’ve got. I can’t possibly manipulate all of that, nor do I want to.”

David Cronenberg, born 15th March, 1943.
And — as Dee Snider’s a Pisces —this tune …

Have a good day …

†        Look at it this way, Debbi, it all helps.   (And are you feeling as bad as Mr S … ?)
