Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 17-3-2017: Saint Patrick’s Day

You know, you can tell you getting older, can’t you … ?

You can tell …

When the caffeine from the first cup of tea takes a bit longer to go through.

I think — for now, at least — I might just need to start using an extra tea bag.

It’s OK.

I can give up, if I need to … !

But let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga* and Debbi† putting in their answers: with both scoring ten out of ten.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video …

Q1) 17th March is Saint Patrick’s Day.   Saint Patrick’s Cross is a red … what: saltire or cross pattée?
Q2) The Saint Patrick’s half penny was used in England, Ireland and Wales.   In which century: the 16th, 17th or 18th?
Q3) The National Museum of Ireland has what it calls ‘Clog Phádraig.’   In other words, Saint Patrick’s what: bell, book or candle?
Q4) Saint Patrick is patron saint of Ireland.   And which Australian archdiocese: Sydney, Adelaide or Melbourne?
Q5) Finally … Saint Patrick is patron of Ireland, New York … and which Spanish city: Madrid, Bilbao or Murcia?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1) 16th March saw the birth of actor and comedian, Jerry Lewis.   In which year of the 1920s?
A1) 1926.   (He’s 91, today: assuming he’s not died between the time of writing, and publication.)
Q2) Which US state was he born in: New York, New Jersey or California?
A2) New Jersey: in Newark, to be precise.
Q3) 1946 saw Lewis made his debut: as half of a comedy duo with Dino Paul Crocetti.   Crocetti was better known as which singer: Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr, or Dean Martin?
Q4) The duo lasted until which year of the 1950s: 1953, 1956 or 1959?
A4) 1956.
Q5) The pair had their own comic book adventures published.   By whom: DC, Fleetway or Marvel?
A5) DC.   (That’s added a new terror to Gotham … )
Q6) Lewis’s first solo film, in 1957, was called The Delicate what: Drunk, Delinquent or Dishcloth?
A6) The Delicate Delinquent.
Q7) Lewis made his directing debut with which 1960 film: The Bellboy, GI Blues or Sex Kittens go to College?
A7) The Bellboy.   (GI Blues was an Elvis film.  Sex Kittens go to College … well, the mind boggles …)
Q8) One Lewis film was remade: with Eddie Murphy in the starring role.   Name either film.
Q9) In 1983, Lewis appeared in The King of Comedy: as a talk show host  stalked by Robert De Niro.   Who directed The King of Comedy?
Q10) Finally … In his film studies lectures for UCLA, Lewis described one student’s efforts with the words, “That’s what filmmaking is all about.”   Who was that student: George Lucas, Steven Spielberg or Francis Ford Coppola?
I’ll leave you with a thought from the man, himself …
“I am imperfect in many things, nevertheless I want my brethren and kinsfolk to know my nature so that they may be able to perceive my soul's desire.”
Saint Patrick.
And a traditional Irish tune …

Have a good day.

And remember: if you’re going to dance on tables, wearing a silly Guinness hat, tonight?

You might want to burn the negatives …

*        I think I’m — sort of — with your father, there, Olga: I never could get the hang of Jerry Lewis.   Or Mayall and Admondson’s Bottom.   I think there’s only so much slapstick a body can deal with!   (I know I missed you, yesterday: but did my usual ‘Find a Regular’ routine.   Check my spam folders, online and in Thunderbird, THEN double check on the Old Peculiar’s Awaiting Moderation section … )

†        That’s rather good, Debbi: the cover?   I’d’ve probably gone gone for Hœfler as the font, and used caps for the title, but the basics?   Are good, and very eye-catching.   (The font should show up in the various drop downs, Debbi, and small caps should be under the Format > Fonts > Capitalisation.)

I hope you have a great weekend. I'm off to Wales tomorrow and will be house and pet-sitting so not sure how much I'll be around (on the other hand is a quiet spot. I guess it depends on the dogs, but there are three!)

I shall have to get back to Ireland and the UK someday. Now, that I'm not as whacked out on horrible drugs for pain relief.

I might even be coherent! :)
