Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 19-3-2017: Oh, Lord … !

Oh, now that’s a pain …

You’ve possible worked out I like a two monitor set up.

Well … My main screen is fine: it’s what I’m using to write this, in fact.

My second monitor?

My second monitor, died, yesterday: quite why it started flickering, then gave up the ghost?

I really couldn’t say.

But I want to get a new cable: just to rule that out …

In other news … ?

In other news, rock and roll legend, founding father and song-writer extraordinaire, Chuck Berry, has died: at the age of ninety.

Only weeks after completing his first album for 40 years.

What can I tell you?

Except that the man was one hell of an influence: especially when you consider the Beatles, the Stones and many others, were influenced by him.

Ninety years?   Is one hell of a good innings

A having a seventy odd year career, during that?

Is fantastic.

Being THE icon … ?

Well …

He’ll be missed …

But let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga*, Trevor† and Debbi‡ putting in their answers: with all three scoring five out of five …

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s themed teaser, shall we?

Here it is, along with the How To, License and video …

Q1) 19th March saw the House of Commons try and abolish the House of Lords.   In which year?
Q2) Both Houses were part of the Parliament of England.   Today’s Parliament is the Parliament of where?
Q3) The House of Commons has the Speaker of the House.   What’s the equivalent post in the House of Lords?
Q4) What’s the Upper House of the UK’s Parliament?
Q5) What’s the Lower House?
Q6) Like many such governments, Parliament is what: bisexual, bimetallic or bicameral?
Q7) Some members of the House of Lords are hereditary.   The majority are what: elected, appointed or easily bribed?
Q8) Crossbenchers are members of the Lords who are what: independent members, party members or bishops?
Q9) Members of the House of Lords who aren’t bishops, are the Lords … what?
Q10) Finally … Bishops of the Church of England who are members of the House of Lords are called the Lords … what?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1) The US Congress passed a law on 18th March, 1968.   The Law meant the US Dollar was no longer backed by a what reserve: gold, silver or platinum?
A1) Gold.
Q2) Soviet advisors left Yugoslavia on 18th March, 1948: in a split between the two countries.   The leaders of those countries were Marshal Tito of Yugoslavia … and which soviet leader?
Q3) 18th March, 1846, saw the birth of Kicking Bear: a noted Lakota tribal leader.   He fought in the Battle of Little Bighorn, along side his brother, Flying Hawk, and his cousin.   Who was his cousin: Sitting Bull, Crazy Horse or Geronimo?
A3) Crazy Horse.
Q4) Jacques De Molay was burned at the stake: on 18th March, 1314.   He was the last Grand Master of which order: the Knights Templar, the Knight Hospitaller or the Knights of Ni?
A4) Knights Templar.   (They were truly the knights who no longer say Ni.)
Q5) Finally … 18th March, 1965, saw Alexey Leonov became the first person to what?
A5) A space walk.
I’ll leave you with this thought …
“Look, I’m a member of the House of Lords and I’m the first to admit that I don’t understand how one gets new laws through.”
Alan Sugar, Baron Sugar, Kt.
And this …

Have a good day …

*        Ah-HA!   You’re out numbered, Olga!   If it’s any help, though?   I know at least two ex-girlfriends had dogs: and swore by those little dentastix things doing the rounds: apparently, the things are supposed to be good for the teeth.   (Contraption?   Good word for a dog treat, actually.   :D )

†        Yeah, it’s May it finishes, Trevor.   Well … that’s what we’re told … (Shame Brentwood McDonald’s is shut, really, I’ve not had Big Mac for years!)

‡        You didn’t seem too bad, Debbi, really: recovery is always a tricky thing, isn’t it?   :D   (How you manage, I really don’t know!)

Yes, I'll do some exploring. Doing the teaser with three dogs might prove complicated but my friends aren't leaving until tomorrow. I hope you sort the problem with your other screen.

I try and keep trying. You were facing some tough times, as I recall. Respect!

Doing these teasers is like a civics lesson. If I ever decide to become a dual citizen of the US and one of the British or Irish countries, I'll have a head start! :)
