Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 28-3-2017

You kno, there’s times — times — when it’s nice to listen to talk radio.

Although I’m very aware of two things.

Not every has access to BBC Radio 4.

And the phrase, ‘talk radio’ itself, means different things to different stations.

At any rate … ?

I’ve been listening to last night’s Just A Minute: which was fun.

I have to say, comedian, Al Murray, did rather well.

It’s just a shame he lost, really …

But let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga*, Angel† and Debbi‡ putting in their answers: with all three scoring five out of five.   The day also saw Olga — inveterate movie fan that she is — leaving a comment, here.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video …

Q1) 28th March, 1801, saw the signing of the Treaty of Florence: a peace treaty between the First French Republic … and which Italian kingdom?
Q2) The second asteroid ever discovered, was found on 28th March, 1802.   What’s the asteroid called: 2 Pallas, 2 Palace or 2 Palance?
Q3) The Acheson–Lilienthal Report report was released to the public: on 28th March, 1946.   It proposed controls on what: chemical weapons, nuclear weapons or conventional weapons?
Q4) A new coin is due to be introduced into the UK: on 28th March, 2017.   What denomination of coin: £1, £2 or £5?
Q5) Who was named as Roman Emperor: on 28th March, 37AD?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1) Britain sank the HMS Scylla, on 27th March, 2004: in order to create an artificial reef.   The Scylla was a Royal Navy what: sloop, destroyer or frigate?
A1) A frigate.
Q2) The Soviet Union held its first multi-party elections: on 27th March of which year: 1981, 1985 or 1989?
A2) 1989.
Q3) 27th March, 1794, saw the USA government establish a permanent what: army, navy or air-force?
A3) Navy.
Q4) Actor, Michael York, was born: on 27th March, 1942.   In which year did he play D’Artagnan, in a version of The Three Musketeers?
A4) 1973.
Q5) Finally … which member of the Black Eyed Peas was born: on 27th March, 1975?
A5) Fergie.
I’ll leave you with a thought …
“Sometimes I think that being paid to go to the movies is the definition of paradise and sometimes I sit there thinking, ‘What on earth am I doing watching this tripe?’”
Michael Parkinson, born 28 March 1935.
And a tune from birthday girl, Stefani Germanotta …

Have a good day!

*        Cheers for the comment, there, Olga … ! And you’re right, Immortan Joe’s quite a looker.   It’s not Steampunk, either: the outfit definitely picks up on the Mad Max franchise’s post-apocalypic hard rock thing.   It’s impressive … but not as impressive as the guitarist!   (Reproductions of that guitar will go for a fortune, you watch!)

†        Morning, Angel!   Nice to see you back on board!

‡        I might just just to add him to the pile, Debbi!   Underneath Michael Moorcock, MORE LeGuin … And Flowers for Algernon, which is supposed to be one of the best SF novels ever written!   (Actually, Ratz is a minor character in Neuromancer: he’s a barman that serves the main character in the early stages of the book.   The chap that did the fan art’s rather good.   He’s on DeviantArt, and got the Finn, spot on … )

Q1) The Kingdom of Naples
Q2) 2 Pallas
Q3) Nuclear weapons (or atomic energy…)
Q4) £1
Q5) Caligula (OK, difficult to believe but he makes modern politicians look tame…)
I agree on the guitar and everything else. By the way, I’ve had some bad news. My mother phoned me this morning. You remember I mentioned a cousin of mine who’d been doing family research, when we were talking about my mother’s uncles? He just passed away. He’d been very ill but wasn’t very old. Sad news.
Oh, I got confused by the message in Google as it said 27th of March but the content didn’t look familiar. Have a good day.
