Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 6-5-2018: Jamaica

6th August, 2018.

I THINK …

That I can say I’m feeling a little better than I was.

At least, at the moment … ?

My innards have calmed down, a bit.

A bit … ?

Quite a lot, actually.

That helps …

A bit …

What possibly wasn’t helpful … ?

Was putting new batteries in my electric toothbrush.

It always seems to take a couple of goes …

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga* and Debbi† putting in their answers: with Debbi scoring six out of six, and Olga on five.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video …

Q1) 6th August is Independence Day in Jamaica.   Jamaica became Independent on 6th August of which year?
Q2) Independent from where?
Q3) According to Wikipedia, 1.1 percent of the population of Jamaica belong to which religion … ?
Q4) What’s the capital of Jamaica?
Q5) Finally … Live and Let Die, Doctor No and The Man With the Golden Gun, are all set — in part — on Jamaica.   Who wrote those novels?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1) The Battle of Dogger Bank took place: on 5th August, 1781.   It was part of the fourth war between Great Britain: and where else?
A1) What was then the Dutch Republic: the predecessor state to what’s now the Netherlands.
Q2) Dogger Bank is in which sea?
A2) The North Sea.
Q3) 5th August, 1962, saw Marilyn Monroe found dead in her bed.   Who was the last man she was married to … ?
Q4) 5th August, 1975, saw the Forestry Commission announce Dutch Elm Disease was spreading in the UK.   The disease was spread by a type of what … ?
A4) Beetle.
Q5) The UK’s Admiralty rejected the invention of Francis Ronalds’s new invention: on 5th August, 1816.   The device was a type of electric what: telegraph, gun sight or bacon slicer?
Q6) Finally … 5th August, 1930, saw the birth of astronaut, Neil Armstrong.   He held a teaching position at which US University?
A6) The University of Cincinnati.
Here’s a proverb …
“Wa de goat du, de kid falla.”
Jamaica Proverb.
And three songs …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Have a good day.

*        Yeah, you’re right, there, Olga: there’s always one trigger you don’t expect!   I THINK it’s the cooking oil I’m using.   Time to change brands, I think.   Or have boiled spuds!   At ANY rate … ?   If it IS one episode Jessica Lange crops up in?   That would make sense: as she’d be giving something over to another character.   And then — quite possibly — getting horribly killed.   Mind you, it’s American Horror Story: Taissa Farmiga’s character died halfway through series one, and was a ghost for the rest of it.

†        CBS All Access, you mean, Debbi?   Discovery’s on Netflix, over here, I know that.   But you can see why video piracy’s still popular: even now.   The popularity of streaming means there’s less off it.   But if you’re on a budget ….  And you’re right: Attack the Block’s fantastic!   It’s sort of a shame it didn’t do better than it did.
