30th April, 2020.
Hmmm …
Stuff is — truly — going on.
You’ve possibly realised I’m a Terry Pratchett fan: have been since I first read his work, back in the 1980s.
And I’m one of the — seemingly many — fans who’ll be boycotting BBC America’s The Watch as, when and if it gets a UK showing.
It’s wrong, on so many levels.
Including the casting.
At any rate, because of that, I’m planning to avoid it.
But also very pleased when the Guardian announced that Narrativia, the Pratchett family multi-media company had done deals with a couple of production companies: to produce. versions more faithful to the novels.
I’m looking forward to those.
The BBC America version is both wrong … and insulting to the fans, it’s American audience, and Sir Terry’s memory.

And a song …
Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.
Have a good day.
* I had heard about the easing, Olga: there’s a bad joke doing the rounds about it^! At any rate, the shopping went OK. About the only BAD point … ? Sainsbury’s didn’t have the muesli I wanted. They’re offering Nectar points on it, too!

‡ Surely the weather’s OK, Debbi … ? Ummm …
^ “After lockdown restrictions were loosened in Spain, a group of people in Bilbao attempted to leave their apartment block and got stuck in a revolving door. You shouldn’t put all your Basques in one exit.” I’ll go sit in the naughty corner, Olga … … … … …

A10 The war started 1 November 1955. The American involvement in the war really got going in 1964. The US has been there earlier as “Advisors” as far back as 1961.
Yes that was the original 1936 coat of arms. The English replaced the Latin in the 1970's. The area that I was born in is represented by the middle link of the chain.
What are the 4 Queens of Scunthorpe and what are the Queens names.

Q10) Do you mean of the 1950s? It seems to have started in 1954. (Wikipedia says 1955 by both History.com and the Encyclopaedia Britannica say 1954 https://www.britannica.com/event/Vietnam-War)
And the number of deaths due to the Coronavirus in the US has topped the American deaths during the Vietnam War.
Oh, I don't mind the joke. I'm not a Basque and they do have a sense of humour. They do need it, for sure! Here they're joking about the de-escalation plan, that is as clear as mud. It feels a bit like that sketch from the Marx Brothers when they are reading a contract https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G_Sy6oiJbEk). Nobody seems happy with it, the regional governments, the businesses, the opposition... It takes some doing to get everybody to agree to something, but they've managed to get everybody to agree they don't like the plan...
I guess. Since I don't remember the question. :)
