The Daily Teaser.

Hmmm … !

Well!

I think we have something of a Facebook versus Twitter thang going on!

Tim, who’s an old friend of mine I’ve recently contacted on Facebook, managed a very respectable 7⁄10.

On the other hang, @starlingpoet, over on Twitter, managed a slightly more respectable 9⁄10!

Mind you, they both got the question about Haile Salassie’s reign wrong; granted, he ruled — as Emperor — for 44 years.

But — and this is what brings the total up to 58 years — he was also ruled as Prince Regent, for 14!

Or Ras Regent, I’m not too sure of the exact Ethiopian equivalent!

At any rate, here’s today’s questions; Tim, JK, lets see what you can do with them … !

Q1) 13th September, 1814, saw Francis Scott Key write “The Defense Of Fort McHenry.”. How is this poem better known?

Q2) 13th September, 1953, saw who appointed as General Secretary of Soviet Russia?

Q3) 13th September, 1982, saw Lindy Chamberlain go on trial for the death of her nine month old daughter; what animal did Lindy claim her daughter had been eaten by?

Q4) 13th September, 1916, saw the birth of which Anglo-Norwegian children’s writer?

Q5) And finally, 13th September, 1990, saw the death of which rapper?

And here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1) 12th September, 1940, saw the discovery of famous cave paintings; in which French town.

A1) Lascaux.

Q2) Which country of the UK voted for Home Rule, on 12th September, 1997?

A2) Scotland.

Q3) After the 11th September attacks on the World Trade Centre, which US President declared a “War On Terror”?

A3) President Bush.

Q4) 12th September, 2003, saw the death of which Country singer?

A4) Johnny Cash

Q5) September 12th, 2005, saw which team win the Ashes?

A5) England.

Q6) Actors Jeremy Brett and Anthony Perkins, died on the 12th of September, in two different years of the 1990s; which of them died in 1995?

A6) Jeremy Brett. (Anthony Perkins died in 1992.)

Q7) More to the point, which of them played a psychotic serial killer?

A7) Anthony Perkins. (Who, of course, played Norman Bates.)

Q8) September 12th, 1974, saw the Emperor Haile Salassie deposed as ruler of Ethiopia; did he reign for 38, 48, or 58 years?

A8) 58 years.

Q9) Which Welsh “James Bond” actor, was born on 12th September, 1912? (I’m not talking Timothy Dalton, here, either.)

A9) Desmond Llewellyn. (The longest running Q.)

Q10) And finally, today in 1977, saw the death in custody, of which South African Civil Rights activist?

A10) Steve Biko.

Enjoy those, folks! I’ll catch you later!
