Just as a How-To for Newcomers!!

You know, it still surprises me how many bright people I’ve met that can’t figure out how to leave a comment, here!!

It does!

I’ve got to admit, I spent a happy-ish half hour, emailing a brief tutorial over to Sue, who’s an old friend. And who’s son, Dave, was occasionally known to play the quiz, over at the King Harold.

Now, those were some wild nights, I tell you!

But I’m digressing, are I?

I am!

But as I said to both Sue — and Tim — it’s basically very simple.

As I told them — and anyone else that asks — all you need to do is — if you’re on Facebook or Twitter, for example — is to click on the relevant links. It shows up as a shortened URL, in a Twitter post, and as a link at the bottom of a FB note.

Either of which take you to the original post, here on the Old Peculiar blog.

Says I, stating the blooming obvious …

At any rate, it get fairly easy — if a little hard to spot — after that.

Usually, at the bottom of each post, there’s a bit that say’s “0 (or whatever) Comments.”

If you click on that, it’ll take you through to another window — oh, boy! — as the screen grab towards the bottom will show you!

The actual comment screen itself is fairly simply; put want you want to write in the box, and then press the “Publish Your Comment” button.

One thing, though that I will emphasise here, though, and it’s something I’ve always asked people to keep in mind.

I usually don’t mind anonymous comments.

I don’t.

But, as I’ve had the odd somewhat contentious comment, I’d prefer people to leave at least a name, even if you’d rather not put a URL in!

Cheers!

27/10/2009: Just as a quick point, I was watching Kevin leave a comment, here, today, when I noticed that you have — as I’ve got Word Verification turned on — to make sure that you feed in the word, correctly; otherwise the post doesn’t go on, correctly.

Kevin had to have two tries at it; the page didn’t publish his comment, that first time.

It simply asked asked him to feed another word, before he hit the ‘Publish Your Comment’ button.

And, after talking it over with Tim, one of my more frequent commentors, this morning, I’m willing to beat that’s why I’ve had one or two people complaining they couldn’t get their answers up!

24/1/2010: Just as a further point, you might just want to get round the problem I mentioned on 27/10/2009, by using whatever light-weight text editor you happen to prefer: TextEdit, gEdit, or WordPad. But I think the video explains it a little better.

At any rate, lets move on, shall we?

Shall we?

Yes, let’s!

I’ve got to admit, I downloaded a copy of the all new iTunes, just recently — on the day of release, in fact — and, so far, I’m mildly pleased.

There’s not a lot that’s different, between it and version 8.

However …

The Genius Mix feature is rather handy; it’s generated a dozen or so mixes, based on the genres of music I’ve got in my collection, and keeps them handily all together, in one screen.

It’s as near as I can get to having a controllable radio station, on the Mini, as possible.

I also know iTunes 9 comes with am new feature for when I’m syncing the rather diddly 3rd generation iPod of mine; in addition to the usual ‘Pick a Playlist’ routine, I can now organise it by artist!

I’ll let you know what I think, once I’ve toyed more, with it!

ThankU for the invitation and i am a little confounded currently, but that is my current state where I need to operate in quantum, 'out-there' mode; but not able to absorb effectively your whole site as yet!
BUT certainly pleasantly entertaining and enjoyable. also stimulating! I look forward to returning, and appreciate the nudges to come and visit. I tend to drive tangentially and dont always arrive at destination co-oridnated.

Cheers for say ‘Hi’, Ulyssess!

Feel free to float around, and comment on a post that grabs your attention

I tend to just use very basic HTML tags; and rely on an HTML tutorial site, here.

Enjoy!

I liked that ThankU If I am correct assuming U have named me Ulyssess?? A little unsure at times of what I read! None the less, I will certainly enjoy perambulating your site.
Was wondering if I could please create a link to my newly made tarot page (being up front-includes my blog and also is selling my readings)
I understand if you do not want to be linked with a site selling something.
If not could I link you onto Posterous where I also post blogs and some poetry?
